  1. They do have one. His name is Augie. Augie has a 0 era as well. Maybe he can start on Thursday...
  2. Clark had an ops of 1.003 last year and 30 homers in 349 abs. And from what I've heard there are no problems with him defensively. Plus he gives you that big target at 1st that Lee was. I think thats a more than a "slight" upgrade over Hairston... Again, he was great last year, but the 3 years prior to that he was terrible. I'm not sold that the guy suddenly found/regained the ability to put up outstanding numbers at age 34. It would be foolish to count on similar numbers this year, especially when he hasn't been that hot to start out with. I agree it would be foolish to expect him to match his numbers of last year but he would provide that power bat that we are desperately missing in this lineup right now. We've been fortunate enough to skate by with Hairston/Neifi but that's not going to last much longer. It only took Hairston 2 days to show that he may be the dumbest player in MLB. Tony Clark is probably the best option out there and he provides everything we need in a replacement. Maybe he can even play some OF when DLee does eventually come back. He has played out there before even if it was for only 2 innings back in '03....
  3. I totally agree with you. When he's on he's got absolutely electric stuff. I'll never forget the Houston game where he threw 15 straight sliders and made them all look like total fools. Williams is solid too. If we trade either, I'd rather it be for someone who has a more involved role than "stop gap for Lee and PHer when he gets back". I'd imagine that's about the max you'd get for either of them. We have a lot of pitchers who are right around their level, I don't object to dealing one to fill a glaring hole for 2 months. It sucks to lose Lee, but acquiring Clark or the like is only going to be a marginal upgrade over Hairston. Unless you're getting a defensive whiz too like a Mientkiewicz, the difference over only 2 months isn't worth giving up players of Wuertz's or Williams's caliber. 4. I'm thinking this is going to cost him about a month... But then again it was only a replacement ump...
  5. Yeah, both Daytona and Peoria's audio broadcasts tend to have issues from time to time. Peoria sounds pretty good tonite. Last year it was brutal but with Gallagher, Harvey, and EP I fought thru it and listened anyway. Ugh, Peoria was unbearable last year. Do you have updates from Peoria tonight? MiLB.com says Peoria leads 5-4 in the 7th. Jake Muyco had a 2-run HR. Sorry. I turned it off when Lost came on... :D Muyco did have a 2 run homer. Jody Davis was ejected for arguing. Mitch Adkins had a solid game going 6 giving up 3 earned with 7k..
  6. That's definitely some quality humor right there. I've been passing that around all day...

  8. And I switched over to Peoria just a little too late and missed Jody Davis get ejected....
  9. This is the first time I've tried to listen to a Daytona game this year. Has the audio quality been this poor all season or did I just have a bad connection tonite??
  10. Anybody have a report on how Wood did throwing with Mesa today???
  11. I just can't get excited with a lineup that has Hairston hitting 6th. I know there isn't much more Dusty could have done but its still not good. Guzman better be ready to pitch today...
  12. From ESPN 1000. XRays on Michael Barrett's finger were negative. He is listed as day to day but will not play today...
  13. Seconded Barrett hurt his finger last night so I'm guessing that Blanco gets the start behind the plate. My guess is that Neifi and Restovich make their way into the lineup today. Barret's thing isn't serious though so he shoud be back Friday right? Barrett had xrays taken this morning according to the score but they haven't released any results yet...
  14. Tony Clark is very inexpensive. Around $1M for 2006. He does have a NTC though. But what do we do with Clark when Lee comes back? Clark can only play 1b, and he's not going to get much time with Lee in front of him. Doesn't seem to be a fit for the Cubs IMO. We use him off the bench. He'll be that power bat on the bench that we don't have. That's much better than Bynum or Hairston pinch hitting late in games. And it would probably be wise to give Lee a day off here and there down the stretch to keep him strong anyway. That forearm is going to be really weak and that's where you generate most of your power from. That gave me a good laugh. Where's the laugh in that??
  15. MLB Trade Rumors shows just how bogus they are. I can't believe people actually believe what they write anymore... The best was they had the Royals and Cardinals listed as suitors for Maddux. That makes much sense....
  16. I'm pretty excited to see what Guzman can do....... I'm thinking 6ip, 5k, 3h, 3w, 2r
  17. From Yahoo Sports: Apr 23 Jerome Williams Sent to minors Apr 23 Angel Guzman Called up from minors Apr 21 Wade Miller Transferred to 60-day DL (Recovery from right shoulder surgery) Apr 21 Kerry Ligtenberg Signed to a minor league contract Apr 21 Michael Restovich Purchased from minors
  18. Jones looked horrible in his 2 ab's vs a mediocre lefty yesterday. He was diving out of the box on every swing. Against a real good lefty with a funky delivery it'll be even worse...
  19. How dare you criticize Jones for his play. He's just trying to play a game, and here you are being negative towards him. The Cubs fans are obviously as unloyal as they come. Yeesh. Yeah I am quite ashamed of myself. As should Jones be for his poor performance...
  20. Jacque Jones vs Lefties. this year 0-5. '05 .201, career .226.... For a guy like Dusty who believes so much in head to head and lefty-righty matchups its quite mind boggling that he refuses to sit Jacque vs lefties......
  21. Jones in the lineup is a joke. A good day for him will be only K'ing 3 times...
  22. And Clark does a game in the OF under his belt. Put him out there in place of Jones....
  23. The announcers in the Iowa game mentioned that Rich Hill is throwing a 4th pitch. Does anyone know what he's throwing???
