  1. Now "Happy Pawelek Day" would just be when (or if) he finally makes it to a full-season level. He made a few starts at Peoria last year, didn't he? No. He made 2 relief appearances at the beginning of last season with Peoria. can you imagine if we would have drafted Rasmus, ellsbury or bucholz, instead?
  2. rich hill makes me so antsy for some reason, like im always waiting for him to just lose it forever i went to baseball reference to make myself feel better, but it turns out his no. 1 comparable is jason vargas for some reason
  3. I've shown almost everyone I know this video. I hope we're laughing with you and not necessarily at you, but we are laughing. Anyway, I thought it was hilarious.
  4. he also led the league in RCBs (racially charged beatings)
  5. His buddy Dopirak is also doing pretty good this season. Through 7 games he's hitting .385/.484./.538/1.022 with 5BB/5K. He also played LF tonight and got an OF assist. At high-A. As a 35-year old
  6. he pitches backwards, setting up his fastball with his curve. He couldn't throw his curve for strikes, so he got behind, and then his fastball had nothing to it. Just a bad outing.
  7. I don't understand this argument. The back-up catcher plays every 5th game or so and is typically the last option pinch-hit AB off the bench. Even a strong hitting catcher won't be the first or even second pinch-hit option. In other words, the role's value is defined in the games he plays, not in his pinch-hit prospect. Would you really sacrifice 32 games of defensive performance for a few dozen (at most) extra PH opportunities? um yeah, I never said a single word about pinch hitting. i see (kind of) what he's saying, but he's forgetting that the backup C still has to hit in those 30-some odd starts.
  8. Please no one respond to my posts - i'm not in the mood to be trolled. in fact, whenever i think about baseball, i think i'll just email them to myself to make sure that no one responds and trolls me.
  9. hmm, upton or hanley (if he can play CF) if i picked a pitcher, hamels, maybe. Or Kershaw.
  10. Bull pucky. He waved at me when i opened the gate for him in the parkinglot. Oh, you work for the Cubs? I lol'd. Roast does works for the Cubs, he does crowd control in the bleachers I think. oh for gods sake
  11. we'd probably have to get a third team involved
  12. I thought Mulder was throwing in the 70s
  13. i remember when we used to have "happy pawelek day"
  14. Hey dummy, the pitcher's spot is up next
  15. Soriano 3-run bomb and lets call this ish a night

  17. That's incredible. I've always thought about making a blog dedicated to collecting those type of videos. Videos of watch party reactions, or just videos of crowds in general? Because I always loved the center field shot of the crowd of Wood's home run in Game 7 of the NLCS. I can't believe Wrigley didn't collapse. Just reaction videos in general, it's the best thing that youtube does. that's a brilliant idea. WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP

  20. It was crystal clear. Barrett started what he couldn't finish. Z was a complete idiot, but nothing would have happened if Barrett wasn't a hot head who made the first physical move. Z was just very quick to respond. It wasn't crystal clear at all. I also watched the video a lot and saw nothing that I would even remotely consider a lunge from Barrett. Barrett's body weight moved toward Zambrano before Zambrano pushed him. It was clear. He may have not been trying to throw the first punch, but he was trying to initiate contact, and got it. It's funny that everyone sees it differently. When I watch it, I see contact from both of them at the exact same time.
  21. Spring training means something. Spring training statistics and records do not. I know that's sort of not the point, but it's a misrepresented point that bothers me.
  22. I don't know or care whether leadoff is a position or not as that is semantics. I do know you must have capable on base players at the top & we don't have that. Roberts is clearly one of the best in the game & I feel would provide a huge boost to a struggling lineup. The Cubs have scored almost half a run more per game than they did last year, when they finished 8th. They're on pace for 833 runs, which would have finished third in the NL a year ago.
  23. i, for one, have been saying for years that one of the cubs' biggest problems is a lack of investment in robots. with the renewed interest from the cubs in pacific rim scouting, maybe robotic investment is the next step
  24. none whatsoever, and i absolutely do not want roberts anywhere near this team
