    I was the pitcher in this scenario when I was a teenager. When I was 13 I could really ramp it up on the mound, but more velocity = worse control. I still remember the team we were playing, too - The Miners - I hit two or three kids and then later I hit one in the side of the knee. All of this was on accident, I might add, I just had no control. The last kid cried so hard that when he got up he had dirt streaked all over his face. Later, one got loose and flew over a kids' head. He just dropped his bat and walked back to the dugout before his third base coach intercepted him.

    Yeah, nobody is talking crap about him, to do what he's doing after three years off and with basically no minor league seasoning is astounding. But you gotta hit a ton of homeruns if you're going to be the best player in baseball with a .375 OBP.

    He's given up 9 earned runs this year, five of them in two games where he recorded no outs. We won both of those games. He hasn't given up multiple runs in any other game this year. In fact, we've only lost one game this year in which he gave up a run(s), the 5-4 loss to Pittsburgh on May 24. A) I'm talking aout career numbers, not a 2 month sample size B) The numbers you just gave me are not very telling since they don't account for situations like tonight. He didn't give up a run but he clearly was not good. Close and late, in his career, he has a .575 ops against. What a choker.
