    THE OTHER SHOE THERE IT IS i wish will carroll would shut up so i could enjoy this season in peace but seriously, i'll always be worried about any pitcher on the roster, especially young ones that we owe a lot of money too and that have thrown a ton of innings unchecked.

    a while back, some friends of mine were really heavy into baseball cards... they might still be. anyway, some of the stuff was cool, so i'd go to shows with them occasionally and i ordered some stuff off ebay. I just dug up the box and it's a smorgasbord of Cubs disasters. A bunch of Prior jersey cards and rookie cards. Some Bobby Hill card, some kerry wood cards including a bat card (????), a bunch of sosa jersey cards and the coup de grace, an autographed jersey rookie card of corey patterson.

    Yeah, he did it to himself, but that doesn't make addiction something he could just shake off. It's a disease. "Nobody says, "foresooth Mitch, you have lupus!" Comparing drug addiction to something like lupus is pretty ridiculous to me. Also, this "it's a disease, they cant help it" argument has always seemed like an excuse to me. Trust me, I've known drug addicts before so I understand how difficult and serious drug addiction is, but ultimately a person has the ability to stop doing drugs if they want it bad enough. A person with lupus can't make it go away, it's not possible. there's been an epidemic of people whiffing on hedberg jokes lately
