if clement cant even make stl's patchwork rotation, what makes you think he could beat out marquis the only reason that i brought that up is that the cubs have had some success with reclaimation projects. fox and wade (i think, correct me if i'm wrong) were busts. dempster was a hit. lieber (when he actually got the chance to pitch) is so-so. i'm not saying that clement would be a solid 3 guy like he was years ago, but at this point could anyone really be as bad as marquis now? having not paid attention to st. louis this season, was this more of a release because we have no options release, release because you suck release, or a hideo nomo situation? if it's a nomo case, he did do well after he left iowa. its a low risk move should the cubs bring him in. Marquis has a 96 ERA+. League average for SP is something like 95. He's been fine for a fifth starter. Clement hasn't pitched in the majors since 2006. He had a 72 ERA+ in 65 1/3 innings. He sucks, he's done. He had a 4.61 ERA in AAA this year, the same as Jason Marquis' major league ERA.
