  1. thank god howry is the bomb again
  2. ehhhhh that pitch was just ok for me
  3. they dont give out separate nl and al awards for exec? surprised
  4. 7 games up doesn't sound insurmountable, but we're 24 games over and they're 10 games over. I'd still love for them to beat out Milwaukee, but I don't see it happening.
  5. without a doubt
  6. she hasn't made one worthwhile post here, ever. people just want her to post again so they can rubberneck.
  7. Blanco roped a low liner past izturis. izzy was in on the grass and it looked like he slipped making his jump or something, he only got about 10 inches off the ground. Mather 8 hopped (no exaggeration) the throw to the plate
  8. i had to leave during the bottom of the 8th and i was sure i would get back and see that we lost winning the first game was so huge, especially with milwaukee starting a home series with the nationals. One out of the next two saves us having to sweat their sure-thing sweep.
  9. what a goofy pitch to swing at, but whatever
  10. this dude is nowhere near the plate and when he is he's just laying it in there, 3-2, just dont strikeout
  11. who is this scrub? we better win this inning
  12. Fixed. Ramirez has power. Derrek Lee is so overrated. He has turned himself into Mark Grace. Which is fine, if you aren't paying him as much as we are and batting him in the three hole. I've been talking up replacing Derrek at #3 next year for a while now. Aramis has his awesome flashes this season, but he's having a down year and has large stretches of crappiness going back a couple months now. Fukudome is still adjusting and Soto is streaky as hell. Why not bat Edmonds #5? aramis' ops+ is the same as it has been the last two years
  13. got him by three steps, suck it beyonce
  14. I think we can start considering him in the team's Top 10 prospects list. You know what? Screw the Cubs' top 10 list. 14.6K/9...8.6 K/BB. That's just stupid. I look forward to see how he does pitching over 4 innings, though. Also, this threw me off. Jay Jackson Full name: Randy Jackson huh? he's doin his thing, workin it out... makin it his own
  15. i'll take the artificial bump in ISOD, ok
  16. Except that DFA'ing him now would be a complete waste. He's here already so we're paying his salary no matter what. We haven't been able to trade him to this point, but in the winter when there's just one year left on his deal it might be possible. That way we get something for him - or don't have to pay him for that final year. Cutting him now accomplishes nothing. Does pitching him now accomplish anything, especially if Milwaukee or the Cards get hot again and challenge us for the division and he's getting lit up every 5th day? If you don't cut him, then move him to the pen and give Marshall the spot. So what if Marquis doesn't want to pitch in the bullpen? Boo friggin hoo. I have plenty of things in my job that I don't want to do, but I do them anyway, and he's making more money this year than I'll ever see in my life. Jason Marquis is not getting "lit up every fifth day". He's only given up 5+ ER five times this year, which is not good but also probably not unlike most 5th starters.
  17. I think we can start considering him in the team's Top 10 prospects list. badnews is gonna have to change his name to goodnews Weak. badnews is gonna have to stop posting entirely

  19. The Cubs are 69-46, the Cardinals are 64-53. If we go 24-23 to end the season, we'll finish at 93-69, which would mean that the Cardinals would need to go 29-16 to close out the season, a .644 winning percentage, to catch us. They're also about to go on a 10 game road trip. We'll know a lot more in a week and a half. A sweep this weekend would break their backs imo
  20. hahahaha, i was thinking more along the lines of mona from who's the boss but this works as well
  21. this episode was so great asking T.O. how much he weighs "two what? two what? two what?" "too sexy"
  22. ozzie's play was good enough for the hall
  23. Marmol wasn't a good starter at all because he doesn't have a good third pitch. That's why he was converted into a reliever. You can be a dominant reliever with two good pitches, as Marmol proves. marmol was a good starter in the minors that time has likely passed, obviously, but the reason marmol wasn't a success as a starter in the majors go way beyond the lack of a third pitch
  24. ive often argued with myself... who's the better strikeout pitcher, jesse orosco or bob veale
