  1. take it easy, zamora
  2. why in the world would someone email scoop jackson after a cubs game
  3. That final score of the Missouri game is a bit misleading and you know it. UI scored a meaningless TD with no time left to bring them back to within 10. And I believe Maclin missed a big portion of the game, too. Was the game a blowout? No. But Mizzou won it fairly handily. C'mon. Don't put me in the lame position of having to defend those clowns. In summary: Donglashings aplenty from the Big 12's top 3 if they played in the Big 10. Aww how nice. Want me to get you a Mizzou shirt? TRUE STORY: Chase Daniel shirts only come in XL (cause he's fat)
  4. he's not the best pitcher on the planet ... in fact, he's nowhere near! stop the presses, matzusaka didn't deliver on the mlbtraderumors.com hype! that's like complaining that a movie didn't live up to gene shalit's review. you're just over exaggerating the public perception of matzusaka for some odd reason.
  5. i know, but it's like the third time you've brought him up on your own and then acted like people think he's the greatest pitcher in league history. i think everyone has a realistic expectation of who he is as a pitcher, the only view that's skewed on him is the one you're pretending other people hold
  6. in the offseason when everyone was wetting their pants over fukudome and the will he/wont he sign with us, i said he was a lefthanded matt murton and lo and behold as far as daisuke, i dont get your weird dislike of him, but the only standard he's not hitting is whatever odd, ridiculously high one you're pretending that people think he is at.
  7. god i can't wait for this game, though i'm legitimately scared of texas turning the tables on us. in 2001 we came into the game ranked below them, and on the way out everyone said "why was texas ranked higher?" i really dont want to be on the receiving end of that comment this year
  8. thank you god for felix jones
  9. that has to be purposeful irony or something
  10. So does that mean we aren't going to get more hourly updates on your cubs fandom soul-searching, cause that would be pretty sweet.
  11. Better, BETTER idea: quit acting like an 8-year old, figure out whether or not your fragile emotions can handle following a baseball team and quit this woe-is-me act.
  12. I never said I "knew the Cubs won't win." I said I knew the odds were against it, though better for them than any other team. Other than that, fair point, but you don't think that this specific way of losing was especially unfun? definitely was very unfun. honestly i'm just annoyed by your continual over the top melodrama. you spent a week flooding every postseason thread around about how the odds were stacked against us and it didn't matter so just enjoy the ride it was a good year blah blah blah and now you're flooding every post-playoff thread with the cubs broke me i'm thinking about quitting i can't take it any more. just hit the road, you're not breaking any hearts
  13. *posts 100 times before playoffs about how it's a crapshoot and he knows the cubs won't win so it doesn't matter* *watches cubs lose in playoffs* *posts 100 times about how he can't take it anymore and he's thinking about not following the team anymore*
  14. my brother in arms
  15. T.O. T.D. that was a great call on the kick though, they executed it perfectly. gotta think perry won't be seeing the field again for a while
  16. not only would you quitting the cubs improve your life, it would improve ours too. sounds like a win-win. see ya
  17. Wow, I can't imagine what you people are like when things don't go your way in real life. this is embarrassing.
  18. Does it make better sense than "hey the playoffs are a crapshoot dude keep sending the same bunch out there to get their ass kicked but at least we beat up the Pirates real good?" I call it realism, but you can call it what you like. Lee looks like a .760 OPS first baseman to me. Fukudome just plain sucks. I don't think it's cynicism to say that in 2009 DeRosa will not be an .857 OPS guy, Edmonds a .937 OPS guy, etc. Maybe Dempster could post a sub 3 ERA again. I don't like where Zambrano is trending though. He's not maturing, he's getting more emotional immature all the time. I haven't seen Rich Harden's velocity lately, he's been babied and he's still a 5 inning pitcher, he's getting swings and misses on his split-fingered, yeah, but this was a guy who was clocked at 100 mph just last year. The Rich Harden we've been seeing lately isn't that great. And Soriano can put up all of his good numbers against mistakes and bad pitching and have a 1.000 OPS and in the postseason, you know what will happen? He will swing through outside breaking balls he can't reach time and time and time and time and time and time again. Pedro Martinez made him look like a clown with that strategy in 2003 and 5 years later he has learned nothing except how to make every pitcher look like Pedro Martinez 2003. You haven't seen Rich Harden's veolcity lately ... so you didn't watch the game last night? way to go, superfan, you just lost your right to complain.
  19. i hope we face a team with lots of lhp like it or not, Hendry's probably REALLY going to amp up his efforts this offseason to find an impact LH bat too bad he missed the boat on Kazuo! ADAM DUNN THAT MEANS YOU
  20. i think i feel like a dad watching his kid strike out in little league
  21. i hope we face a team with lots of lhp
  22. i know everyone is in a big hurry to prove that this collapse hurt them more than it hurt anyone else and that they're such a superfan that they won't ever get over this but a lot of these reactions are pretty embarrassing
  23. I don't get the problem. Isn't being patient a pretty good idea/
  24. It doesn't seem like I'm being that obtuse. Every pitching staff in the NL playoffs did significantly better vs. right-handed batters than left-handed batters. How is it not therefore a detriment to have a significant portion of your offense tied up in right-handed hitting? I'm not saying it's not a detriment, I'm saying that it's not a surprise that a league that has a majority of RHB has worse splits against RHP. there are more rhp and rhb than lhp and lhb ... so it's common sense that splits against RHB will be lower. I would imagine every pitching staff in baseball with a majority of RHP did better against RHB, how is that a surprise? The NL as a whole had a much smaller split: .260 .328 .414 .266 .341 .421 compared to the Dodgers' .239 .301 .361 .268 .334 .396 Hmm, that's less of a difference than I expected. The Dodgers' RHP are better than the average RHPs, though.
