  1. son of a bitch
  2. it's bill simmons' dream come true
  3. stuy, i read that quote from you and i knew that you couldn't be talking about alabama, but i didn't want to even get my hopes up in the slightest. if it happens i'll probably fly out to florida and kiss you
  4. you'd know, boom roasted
  5. So it's true then,.... the apple don't fall far from the tree, eh? Ohhhh snap! fred was just joking around with me. we have a great, great, greatgrandfather-grandson relationship
  6. especially especially when his replacement is joey gathright. i mean, there wasn't another way to get garret olson/aaron heilman? a couple of decent lower level guys wouldn't have gotten it done?
  7. debunked many times Maybe not Dunn, but we could have got a lot more than a PTBNL. While sophmore slumps do happen, nobody would have imagined that 2008 would be the trainwreck it was for him. the hill departure doesn't sadden me too much outside of the fact that he was really good, lost it and could never find it. theoretically there's nothing to lose by keeping him and letting him try and find it during spring training, but im sure the cubs have been monitoring his progress and probably figured it was best for them both to cut ties now and re-unite him with the minor league instructors that helped him get it together in the first place. what really gets me is the pie situation. just like three years ago the whole organization was calling him the michael jordan of baseball, and no matter what you think of him as a prospect, 300-400 ABs spread out over two or three years is not enough of a chance to give him. Especially not before just shipping him out for garbage.
  8. boom, roasted
  9. five years of wieters kicking ass at catcher > 10 years of vitters at 3B
  10. "like you're waiting on line.... at the bank? HO"
  11. how did i miss this? in my case you just stand around and bleed a lot and then go to sleep later
  12. when you said this, were you planning on wieters dying or something
  13. just goes to show you that the apple coaches a lot like their father
  14. kobe (age 20) .465 FG, .267 3-point, .839 FT 19.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1.4 spg, 1.0 bpg 18.9 PER, .548 TS% Durant (age 20) .473 FG, .415 3-point, .858 FT 24.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.2 spg. 0.8 bpg 20.2 PER, .573 TS%
  15. that made my turtle go back in his shell, what a disaster that would be
  16. i have some friends up in KC, I might have to hit a few games this summer
  17. Awful. I could see trying him at #4 or even #5, but #6 is just pissing away AB's. Lee is natural 2 at his age/skills. Bradley and Ramirez are a natural 3-4. Soto and Soriano are more or less interchangeable at 5-6 (if consider Soriano's natural age 33 decline and Soto's age 25 rise). You're welcome to disagree, but calling it 'awful' is reactionary and discredits your contribution. By stating 'pissing away AB's' your basically saying Soriano is measurably and obviously better than any of Bradley, Ramirez, or Soto at 4 or 5, and that simply isn't true. Soriano likely produces the lowest OPS of the bunch in '09, if only by a small margin (I expect all 4 guys to be in the .860-.900 range). soriano is a much better hitter than theriot, so i'd rather get him the extra 60+ at bats at the top of the order
  18. give it to hansborough, he'd be the best player in the big ten if he had gone to school in the big ten
  19. ok, well all (except soul) know that's fake, but i want my paper to start doing that to people that want to go to area high school/college games. maybe that way my 401k will actually end up being worth something
  20. True, and I'm sure that's part of it. But there have been offseasons before and it's never gotten this bad. you were too busy blogging last offseason to realize what it was like around here
  21. *something about prison sex*
  22. It's a good thing a certain Bama fan friend of ours isn't an ND fan, because he'd have a very long response to this post. I hope we get this guy but he probably wouldn't be a RB at ND, since Charlie is averse to ever running the ball (but maybe with our crap OL coach replaced it'll be better). Nah man, my days are trying to convey my thoughts about my team in more then a few sentences, if that, are long gone. My answers were be short and to the point. The only thing about ND that I want to see happen is Urban "The Classless Liar" Meyer become the new head coach of that program. so much to love in this post
  23. yeah guys... because this thread, or any other thread on this site for that matter, has never had an evolving conversation... if it is relevant, why complain? you aren't following along too well. the entire conversation is about whether or not the team is better or worse than last year, excluding budgets, age, injuries, all of that.
  24. i dont think the edmonds signing can be called anything other than genius
  25. yet you're sitting here repeatedly ignoring the recognized standard for how to judge a prospect's age. What age anyone here places him at is not important, but you're still on the wrong side of the standard way to judge a prospect's age. Not to mention "pointing out how stupid it is to get "riled up"" is pretty ironic when you're on the wrong side and have still made a handful of posts arguing about it.
