  1. maybe someone can fill me in here (that's what she said) but what is the difference in purpose between something like, say, creatine and steroids. Obviously steroids are illegal and more potent, but isn't the purpose basically the same? Both are supplements that help someone get more out of the their workouts, except one you can buy at friggin walmart and the other makes sportswriters hate you. all these tears about "THEY'RE NOT DOING IT NATURALLY" ring sort of hollow when these guys can theoretically pump thousands of dollars of legal supplements into their bodies and work out 20 hours a week if they want to. That's not "natural" either.
  2. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/chris_ballard/01/27/lebron.james/index.html Did anyone read this article? 270 pounds? f taking a charge
  3. Speaking of LeBron, did anyone see the SI article that said he weighs 270 pounds? yeesh
  4. by the looks of it, it was taken not long after a workout, when everyone looks about 15 times better than they do in real life
  5. Al Jefferson is all T'Wolves got. Everybody else was spare parts. Al Jefferson is a more valuable player at this point vs Garnett. The fact that Ainge and McHale are friends I'm sure helped facilliate the deal, but it was far from some lopsided exchange. Prolly, but maybe a handful of teams would take Jefferson over KG right now. KG still have alot of game left in his body. Thus, IMO, he's more valuable to a team like Boston then Jefferson is to Minnesota. With KG, Boston is a average team. With Jefferson, there's not that big of a drop off. i cannot figure out what the hell any of this is supposed to mean
  6. i have no idea what of worth detroit has... they traded billups so they could play stuckey, he's not going anywhere.
  7. ap crossed a story on the baseball economy today where it mentioned wolf had a 3-year, $27 million deal on the table from Houston in november. The astros pulled it because they decided they couldn't afford it and now he's gonna make $5 mil
  8. was that the year we gave up our pick for latroy hawkins?
  9. In 1999 his games played began tailing off. He had only been inured once before that. Bonds began taking steroids in 99. he played 256 games as a 41 and 42-year old and OPSd over 1.000 both years. Steroids did much more good than harm to his longevity.
  10. Of all people, who would have thought that Jose Canseco would be the voice of reason? jose canseco isn't the voice of reason, he's just the only one desperate/sleazy enough to out everyone so he can sell a few more copies of book
  11. Barry was very healthy right up until 2000 when he started taking steroids. The original SI article documents this pretty clearly if I remember correctly. Just wait 10-20 years. Bonds' body will deteriorate much more quickly than the average baseball player's body. that's not what people are talking about though.
  12. steroids didn't put barry bonds on the dl, old age did. steroids allowed him to rape mlb pitching for like 7 more years than he would have otherwise im sure the 400 million dollars he made while he would have otherwise been hanging out at home will help him cope
  13. im sure if they could do it again, they'd draft durant and deal with it
  14. first half in OKC, the first game between Oden and Durant.... OKC 60, Portland 40. Durant 22 points, 2 boards, 2 assists... Oden 0 points, 2 boards, 2 assists, 2 fouls
  15. a 23-year old stick figure 4 that averages 9 points per game and shoots 43 percent is probably not a top 45 player, but that's really just nitpicking
  16. if you want 15 breathless paragraphs about florida football - meph is your man if you're looking for tips about how to beat the goblin boss on a final fantasy game - meph is your man if you want to talk about anything baseball related - try someone else
  17. yeah, you're only going to get one year out of him, so you sink a little bit of this year's available cash into him for the right to have him for 8 or 9 or 10 or whatever next year. It's a risk, but if there's a FA in this year's class worthy of one, it's Sheets
  18. Can't wait for the combine. Gonna have to lock the tv onto the nfl network
  19. i saw this today when i was at the gym and this was my same thought. Give him a 2-year, 12-15 million dollar deal. Pay him a small portion this year to rehab, and then the rest next year. If he struggles in 2010, oh well, it's just a one-year pill you swallow. If he hits it big, he gets paid and gets to go for a big deal in 2011 12-15M seems too much for a guy who could be throwing his first pitches next year. 2/10. it probably is, but you have to offer him something he'll take, too. Maybe make the 2010 cash incentive laden, but who knows if he'll take it. I'm going to be relatively upset if Hendry doesn't even test these waters. I mean, Wade Miller... come on.

  22. i want the olives
  23. incorrect yet another stat you got wrong.
