  1. Cycling is quite exciting, actually, and has an almost religious following around here. Not many annual events can turn out between half a million and a million people on the streets like the Ronde van Vlaanderen. i'll never understand those third world countries
  2. no But essentially what is the difference? Leaving early was seen as "giving up on your team", even though it was the last day of the season and the Cubs were mathematically eliminated. Sammy was still a superstar player, and he was crucified for it. Hanley almost walking after that ball is giving up on the play, therefore hurting your team in a game that matters. Yet he shouldn't face the same criticism? How is his offense any better than Sammy's? the people who were mad at sammy were idiots. put 2 and 2 together here
  3. Ha. I never said I was concerned, I said I thought it was odd, that's all. What do you find odd? And why is it odd? People were mocking Theriot for his lack of power, and yet are praising Castro for his ability to put the bat on the ball. I know the age difference, makes it more impressive on Castro behalf, but essentially Castro has been Theriot with better defense since his first game. ryan theriot has 4 XBH in his last 160 at bats. what point do you think you're trying to make here
  4. We were similarly concerned about your ability to make quality posts on NSBB at the age of 20..... but look how well that turned out !!! so you're saying castro is going to be a HOFer
  5. I'm very concerned about his power. If a player doesn't show much ability for XBH in his first 36 at bats as a 20 year old .... it may never show up.
  6. cousins annoys me. i think his vertical is about 2 inches more than zack randolph, who dunked once last year and his teammates were so surprised that they had to perform CPR on some of them on the bench. i think cousins is a bust, personally.
  7. glad utah didnt sneak into the top 3, that would have been a disaster. also glad that wall and turner are headed to the eastern conference
  8. I know it. If I was a millionaire that occasionally played baseball I would probably just kill myself. lol
  9. The most impressive thing so far to me is his composure. I mean he comes up and hits a HR in his first at bat, finishes with 6 RBIs. He's tearing the cover off the ball from day 1 and that's impressive enough. But then he comes to wrigley, makes a million errors and gets booed. Would anyone have sweated him if he freaked out a little bit and started pressing? But he just shrugged it off and kept hitting. Eventually pitchers will figure out a way to get him out and he'll have to make adjustments and blahblahblah, but even if he finishes the season hitting .270, he's basically shown everything that a 20-year old shortstop could show in his first season to make you think he's going to be a stud. And he's done it in 15 games or whatever.
  10. "Come on out and check out the Cubs and talk about them on the internet radio show" didn't fit on the billboard
  11. it's easier if we just pretend he never existed
  12. i kind of feel like that about when i was at game 5 of the NLCS when the cubs went up 3-1 in the series. the stadium was all cubs fans and at the time, we thought we had basically just won the pennant and were going to the world series. i'll never forget what the place was like after the game. the tunnels were completely swarming with cubs fans just yelling and high fiving everyone that walked past. people were doing the hop/high five thing that sosa/alou/lofton did in the outfield after wins too. it was completely insane. craziest sports moment of my life, even though it ended up being meaningless. This is so angsty and stupid and just flat-out wrong. I swear, some Cubs fans don't deserve a WS. i think he just means meaningless in the effect that we ended up losing that series in literally the worst way possible.
  13. steve nash kicked his ass
  14. not a game, per se, but i would have liked to have witnessed deucebaseman's slide trials to see how accurate they were
  15. when dave dravecky's arm broke off and hit some old lady in the stands (i may be misremembering)
  16. SHawn Estes shutout in 2003
  17. game 6 2003 nlcs and i'd spill a drink on steve bartman or run out on the field before the implosion or something
  18. pretty sure i was down with the pick from day one, so suck it losers
  19. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/05/carlos-zambrano-dances-on-tables.html Heh. Petey Pablo? What is this 2001? i was watching late night tnt the other night and drum line came on, with a cameo by, you guessed it, petey pablo i said the 2001 thing too

  21. bwahahahahahaha
  22. i think everyone in baseball hates his fat ass and makes fun of him behind his enormous back
  23. They can't sign both. they can, but they won't. Agreed. It's not that they can't, they won't. Agreed. They could sign both but they won't do it.
