I bet you a million internet dollars that this thread would be two pages shorter if you had just said that up front instead of piggy backing on top of arguments saying things that were far more polarizing. I said it several times in the last 10 pages. It gets overlooked because it's less polarizing. Ideally, the last two pages would still exist but with higher-quality posting. And then someone says "it would be if you stopped posting" and then you say "my opinion being different than yours doesn't make it worse," predictably making you out a victim while even more predictably not being about anything.

Epstein has said lots of things over the past two years (i.e. "building on dual fronts", "every season is sacred", etc.). Do you not see how these things (your response and what you responded to) go hand in hand? Look who you are talking to. "Hey, Bum, you know nacho cheese isn't magically created in a machine??"

I'd also feel so much better about theo world serious champion Epstein if this 70 win cubs team had a competent bullpen for no reason If this team had an average bullpen, we would have been buyers at the deadline. What would we have bought? Matt garza????? Scott Feldman!??? Who got moved that would have done any [expletive] good at all and at what cost?

Anibal Sanchez didn't want to sign with a loser, we didn't bid enough on darvish and we were one of oh about 29 teams that didn't bid an exorbitant amount on a then-fat unknown puig. I mean what the [expletive] are they supposed to do. Michael Bourn would have made a huge difference!!!!

How pointless. "They're not trying." I they "tried" under the parameters you want them to, in 3 or 4 years we'd be saddled with horrible players/contracts and the same people would be griping about "they leveraged the future!"

im sure anibal sanchez/liriano/etc are just really sad that they missed out on the chance to be a part of a team so bad that its fans are actively rooting for losses at this point so they can add another prospect.

seems like every time we were in on a big FA and lost, they went to a better team. gee i wonder if our shitty record had anything to do with sanchez going to a world series contender, darvish picking texas, etc. if they can't/wont overpay these guys it's just not going to happen until the big league team has some positive momentum
