  1. I would offer Almora and trash if 1.) we're convinced Alcantara can play CF and 2.) We're going in on Lester in the offseason as well. A rotation of Lester, Hamels, Arrieta, whoever, whoever plus a lineup of alcantara, castro, rizzo, baez, bryant, valbuena, etc... to start 2015 would be very interesting.
  2. Almora set a new career-high for home runs in a season ... in the last two nights.

  4. the very real possibility that soler, baez, bryant and alcantara all own is so frightening that it's like you don't even realize we also have the no. 6 prospect in baseball, as well as almora who is hitting like 400 in the last month AS WELL AS THE SCHWARB.
  5. these aren't ALL baseball, but they ALL own also jon bois is the best follow on twitter
  6. man if we get good results in AA and AAA tonight im definitely gettin on top of my wife
  7. Don't worry, Parks will be slobbering all over him in the offseason when he pulls up his baseball reference page for the first time in 18 months. "Why didn't anybody tell me he was good again," he'll say to his cardboard cutout of screech from saved by the bell.
  8. SI is going to have an awesome longform in 5 years when we're about to win our first world series and the astros are winning 65 games and still rebuilding. unbelievable
  9. ask vance to do it
  10. HOLEE COW. THAT HURT MY FEELINGS. IF YOU WERE A HOT DOG WOULD YOU EAT YOURSELF? BATTING THIRD IS STARLIN CASTRO. IM A BUD MAN.
  11. Also I don't see any way Baez can put on more weight. He looks like a tank.
  12. I know what I must do nm he tweets too much, i dont want to spend an hour going back that far Plus, he'd just point out that the Cubs had to include both Shark and Hammel to get a return that high. it's not about being right or wrong, it's about annoying him enough to respond

  14. Soler's single came on a 7-pitch at-bat where he fell behind 0-2, and laid off two pitches in the dirt in between foul balls.

  19. Observations from one live viewing Alcantara, Baez and Bryant all obviously pass the eye test, but Baez is like on another planet entirely. Everything he does just screams "major leaguer." His first at bat was a rope to the RC gap even thought you could tell he didn't make great contact. Then he flied out to the track in center on another ball he didn't make great contact on. One of his Ks was a terrible call. On defense he had just one play that I remember, and it was a lazy hopper into the hole. He was playing on the grass, no joke, and the ball is just slowly chopped to his right. He took two or three easy steps and fielded it like he was taking throws in between innings. It almost looked unreal because any other short stop would be charging it. But he just casually stuck his glove out, and then fired a strike to Valaika, getting the guy by two or three steps. Everything he did appeared to be "this is a thing I have to do for a while in order to be in the majors." Not in a bad way, you could just tell he's the kind of guy that has to be challenged or he gets bored. Alcantara didn't get to make a play in the field, but he had two walks and a sharp single, and he was basically running at will, even though I don't think he was credited with a steal. You can tell the coaches just let him do what he feels like at this point. Bryant had a nice single, a walk and then took a tough K on a curve (right after Baez K'd looking on the same pitch. That pitcher was sharp, 95mph with a big curve.) and then struck out on a changeup in the dirt. At third he looked like a mess. He made one nice snag and throw, then missed a throw from the catcher on a steal, that cost Iowa the lead (and the game,) missed a diving catch on a Torreyes grounder (remember him?) that was probably 50/50, then made a nice catch on a chopper to his left, but sailed the throw and looked horrible doing it. Oh, Manny walked and stung a grounder to third, but the 3B made a nice catch and got him at first. He still looks pretty good.

  21. You're not crazy, I don't think. Castro already shows 20 HR power and is going to keep filling out. Russell is more likely actually "be" a shortstop 5 years from now. the possibilities are [expletive] endless
