  1. Because it’s not *just* Sasaki. We’re just talking about him because he’s our latest FA failure. in reality this is the most frustrating because it’s emblematic of the bigger issue. Every single prior FA failure has come with a caveat. Contract is too long. Money is too high. He won’t age well. He wants to be a DH. He wants the coast. Sasaki came with none of those. His contact isn’t too long. He costs nothing. He’s a position of need. There’s no defensive or positional worries. And he still won’t come here. If we can’t sign that guy, who can we sign?
  2. be good enough that he wants to play for us? harper's contract was too long, ohtani wants to be a DH oops now he just wants to stay in LA, Soto is a bad defender, Sasaki wants to be on the coast. always an excuse.
  3. no, by that logic he considered us a better option than the braves and phillies
  4. the fact we are considered a lesser option to the messy ass blue jays is 100000x worse than him just eventually picking the dodgers
  5. maybe his preference was to play for the best team, too bad that's not us. Let's call Brooks Raley real quick, his shift at Taco Bell is almost over.
  6. we're quickly running out of reasons we failed to sign a FA. harper's deal was too long! 13 years? Crazy. Ohtani? Oh he wanted the DH. What, he's a FA again but now we can offer DH? Well he just always wanted LA anyway. Soto? He's already a poor defender. PASS. Sasaki? He costs nothing and only pitches? Oh uhhhhh well he really likes the coast too. Who else am I missing? They can't keep missing on these guys and losing. One or the other please.
  7. you absolutely can blame Jed. he's managed this roster for how many years now? And every year the top FAs hit the market as *perfect* options for our roster, and we either don't try, can't try, or try and fail. Any idiot could trade some spare parts for Kyle Tucker. At some point he needs to succeed at the actual difficult parts of his job.
  8. oh im sorry, are we getting bonus points here for being obtuse now? the cubs yet again tried and failed to present themselves as an acceptable location for a top FA. There's always an excuse for why we couldn't sign a guy, or why he picked another team, and so on. At some point, they need to lure one of these guys to Chicago, and if they can't do that, they need to win without them. So far they're failing in FA (at times failing to even try!) and failing on the field.
  9. Wonder what the excuse will be this time
  10. The cubs eventually need to field a roster good enough to lure a single good FA
  11. oh im sorry, i was talking directly about the posts you are making. are you hallucinating
  12. hey dude maybe it's time to stop acting like nsbb's top intellectual authority while simultaneously being unable to read or comprehend what literally anyone is saying on here
  13. the median british bricklayer is better than 35% of all american MLS players for sure
  14. great post man, everyone definitely knows exactly what youre talking about here. have you ever considered not being a gigantic freak no one can stand to be around or listen to
  15. you were just jacking off over 39 year old kyle hendricks not being treated well enough by 12 message board posters for his 6 era on a team that missed a playoff spot by like half a game, shut the horsefeathers up
  16. it's not a horsefeathers book club, dip horsefeathers, it's a baseball team that's supposed to be winning games. Shut the horsefeathers up
  17. he was talking to congress and trying to avoid going to prison for being illegally buff, it's idiotic, who gives a horsefeathers these guys are all freaks anyway
  18. pisses me off that they black balled him for years simply because everyone (rightfully but still) assumed he did steroids, as opposed to the countless others who used banned substances and were never good enough for anyone to care whether they used or not, then let him back in as a PR move after forcing him to apologize for using steroids while never saying steroids. So pointless.
  19. "damn bro my b i thought u were mike stanton lol"
  20. if the cubs are going to be remotely decent offensively in 25 it literally requires Busch to be good. Pondering whether he actually is or isn't good is meaningless. If he doesn't hit next year, we suck, Bellinger on the roster or not.
  21. better known as murderer's throw
  22. im more interested in the cubs payroll
  23. soto in toronto feels cool for some reason
