this is a real fun back and forth just kidding. its kind of a pointless exercise. even if you determine the exact perfect ratio of strikeouts to contact or strikeouts to homeruns or whatever.... ok now what? how does that inform your decision making as a FO? There's like 4 decent free agents every year and they all go to the dodgers. You can't really use that information to build your roster anyway. -

still love corey patterson. I was digging around in some boxes last christmas looking for horsefeathers in the garage and found a bunch of stuff i bought off ebay in the early 2000s, including some patterson rookie cards I thought were going to fund my kids college one day. Awesome player. Love that we're running it back in 2025 with PCA

yeah but the margins are slimmer today and the profit routes are much larger. owners arent rich fans anymore, they're businessmen trying to fund their other horsefeathers with guaranteed baseball profits

i dont know if league is taking their lead as much as very few owners actually care about going all out to win when it mostly just hurts their bottom line. they'll cost cut and penny pinch their way to 85 wins and lots of profit
