  1. Exactly. His arm more than makes up for his occasional truly terrible play. His range has seemed to be pretty darn good this year as well, it might have something to do with his legs being fairly healthy.
  2. Seems to me that if your last name is Ramirez, you should probably lock yourself in your house for a few weeks: Manny: Suspended for PEDs Aramis: Out at least a month with separated shoulder Alexei: Benched for Jayson Nix (LOL). So much for being the "best player in Chicago".
  3. Dusty with a pretty good forfeit lineup in tonight: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2009_05_07_milmlb_cinmlb_1
  4. Anybody who has been removed from the game can't come back in. Anybody who is new on the roster is eligible to play. If Dukes is on the DL, then they would just substitute anybody else on the 25 man roster the day the game is resumed that hasn't already been in the game. This is correct. Last year, Luis Montanez technically got his 1st career hit 3 months before he was actually called up to the Orioles. He got a hit in a suspended game vs. the White Sox that was suspended from April/May and resumed later in August/September.
  5. Agreed. 92 pitches and 7 innings is enough from Harden. I don't care who is in your bullpen, if you can't hold a 5 run lead for 2 innings against the Astros, you don't deserve to win.
  6. DePaul, coming off an 0-18 Big East campaign, lost its 2 top players to the draft (Dar Tucker & Mac Koshwal). Is it possible they win less than 5 games total this year? It certainly is. DePaul Basketball, its Fantaaaaastic.
  7. The last two days (5/5 and 5/6), our starters (Marshall and Harden) have had very strong starts through 7 innings, yet Lou has put them back out there in the 8th because he has no one he trusts in the pen besides Marmol. He couldn't use him on Tuesday and had to on Wednesday in a game we were leading 6-1 after 7 and 1/2. This is bad and will eventually catch up to us. Marmol can't pitch every game, even though Lou wants him to. Good thing we let go of Wuertz and Eyre for essentially nothing. Lou's doghouse nonsense is brutal.
  8. It's not you. It's because of the 575 DPs that Derrek grounded into last year.
  9. Here comes the forfeit lineup: Gathright Theriot Fuku Ramirez Hoffpauir Fontenot Hill Miles If he gives Theriot the day off, substitue Scales for him.
  10. Pitcher slipped and fell. Damn, I was hoping for a Miles spontaneous combustion.
  11. Its more amazing that Daryle actually ran 270 feet at one time.
  12. Highest ISOd ever? Also, anyone ever finish with a .000 BABIP?
  13. I officially apologize to anyone that was annoyed with my past pessimistic irrationality. The main reason I visit game threads is to remind myself that no matter how bad I feel during/after a cubs loss, somebody is feeling worse and/or overreacting far more. It's kinda like watching The Jerry Springer Show when you are feeling bad about your own screwed up life to remind you that it could be a whole lot worse. Or you just fail to acknowledge reality and your life (the Cubs) does just suck that bad and you will continue to hold out hope forever. 1) my "life" isn't the cubs. they are important, but not most important 2) take a deep breath and glance at the calendar It was just an analogy. Just kidding. But, I'm still concerned, even though its April. These type of things just have a way of snowballing.

  15. The Blue Jays pitcher has a SWEET mustache.
  16. Alexei Ramirez making Theriot look like Ozzie Smith at SS in the Sox game right now.
  17. The Cubs road uniforms suck. Can we get some red trim or something? Maybe the 1968 style back? Its the Mitchell and Ness Santo and Banks ones if you google them.
  18. Can't Miles get some sort of disease that prevents him from playing but lets him live or something? If not, let him get hit by a bus.
  19. Good thing we moved Soriano, turning him into Lee 2.0...
  20. To be honest, that's what its going to take to get people off his back at this point. His past offseason was a complete over reaction to 3 bad games in September. There was absolutely no need to change anything from last year whatsoever except maybe adding a bullpen guy (like Heilman). Keep DeRosa, keep Wood, let Kosuke/Reed platoon CF, let Hoff/DeRosa platoon RF with DeRosa also splitting 2B with Fontenot. No need to trade Marquis, use Marshall as lefty in bullpen instead of Cotts, no need for Aaron Miles with DeRosa still around. No need for Gregg if you still have Woody. Joey Gathright could have not been signed and we could have used Jake Fox as our last bench guy. Replacing Hank with Koyie Hill is a non-move. So, he should have let Ward, Howry, Blanco, and Edmonds go and replaced them with Hoffpauir, Heliman, Hill, and Fox and we'd have the team we should have. Instead, he had to tinker and bring in a bunch of garbage.
  21. Just enough to collect his extra $10 million...
