  1. And DePaul loses to Florida Gulf Coast a week after losing to American University. I would say they should be in the Horizon League, but that would be an insult to the Horizon League. F you Ponsetto and Wainwright.
  2. I can hear the Grabow/Capps exchange now: Grabow: This place is great. It's just like Pittsburgh but with a full stadium, a ton of undeserved money and a ton of day games so you can go get drunk after all of them Capps: How are the women? Grabow: A hell of a lot better than Pittsburgh Capps: I'm in. 2 years/$18 million sounds great!
  3. Yeah, old habits die hard. Erik for the win!
  4. Its going to be interesting how this affects his golf game. There are 2 very intriguing paths that he could go down. 1. Use this as fuel to work harder than ever and just eviscerate everyone in his path on his way to the grand slam this year and like 30 majors. 2. Derails him mentally and goes as far into the tank as anyone with that much talent can go. Like, what if his wife found out about this the night before he blew the PGA in Minnesota and he just crumbled and missed all those putts. Or he could just stay the same, but if either of the above happens, it would be amazingly interesting.
  5. There is only 1 respectable answer and that is Alfonso Soriano. He was worse than Bradley last year and is effectively stealing $18M/year from the Cubs for the next 5 seasons and not allowing us to sign any big free agents this year and probably a few years down the road. Thanks for sucking Alfonso.
  6. I think the tandem of Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are probably the most popular athletes in Chicago. i couldn't pick either out of a lineup. Me neither. And a hockey player will never be the most popular athlete in Chicago unless they're Gretzky-good. Even with the badness and injury, Cutler and Urlacher are both probably head and shoulders over anyone right now.
  7. There are at least 6 non-QB offensive skill players in this game better than any skill player on the Bears, maybe 8 or 9
  8. That's gotta be the worst All Big-10 team in a while. There may not be a starting NFL player on that list.
  9. I don't know that much about Purdue, but Tennessee has been shooting lights out from outside so far - only 51% from inside the arc, but 47% from outside it. They also run the usual Bruce Pearl style - fast, heavy pressure and trying to force turnovers and get quick shots. I haven't seen much from them this year, but from listening on the radio and from talk around the program, they're playing much faster than last year. Scotty Hopson has been the star so far, shooting 59% from the field and 63% beyond the arc. Tyler Smith and Cameron Tatum have been quite good from the field as well. No true point guard, though, (but Melvin Goins might become that) and the inside guys aren't huge. Anyone that only beats DePaul by 4 points can't be that good. Purdue should handle them.
  10. I like the trade for the White Sox. When you factor in that Fields was never going to do anything for the White Sox because Ozzie hates him, its like Teahen for Getz straight up. Good move for the Sox. Anyone else think they let Teahen try 2nd base and get a heavier hitting RF? Trading Fields makes me think Beckham will play 3B and Ramirez will remain at SS.
  11. Even if they worked from the first day that Chicago weather will allow it to the last, that'd take longer than a season, don't you think? Let's say season ends October 1, they would have 18 months to do construction. Even though that's two winters, its probably possible with enough determination.
  12. I like how they put a fantasy baseball spin on this. The 1 guy in the universe with Diamond on his fantasy team just started crying. Hahaha. Good for the Cubs though. Hopefully he can have a solid winter of getting healthy and give the system something in years to come.
  13. The Reds owe the Cubs a favor for drafting and trading Josh Hamilton. Time to call that favor in. :D If Dusty is still around that might not be a bad idea. Milton and Dusty would be a match made in heaven. The Cubs apparently were interested in signing Milton prior to the 2006 season and Dusty and Milton met and apparently that didn't go well. One of the only good decisions Dusty made in Chicago...
  14. My Rankings of MLB stadiums I've been to: Wrigley Fenway PNC AT&T Camden Coors Petco Dodger US Cellular Miller Nationals Great American Busch 2 Anaheim Original Yankee Busch 1 Shea County Old Comiskey Veterans Tropicana Metrodome
  15. Reed is actually a decent amount better than Byrnes. Byrnes OPS in 2008-2009: .641 and .619 Reed OPS in 2008-2009: .778 and .722 My god, I didn't think Byrnes was that bad. Did he even play the last 2 years? Those are Doug Dascenzo numbers.
  16. According to MLBTR, the Dbacks might release Eric Byrnes. If we could get them to take Milton's $21 million for 1 year and $10 million worth of Eric Byrnes, that might not be a bad move. Don't get me wrong, Byrnes is essentially Reed Johnson these days, but he's better than nothing.
  17. Really? Next thing you know, EL, will prolly start calling Ryan Braun "Dirk Diggler." Because he knows from experience :-))
  18. Or celebrate because you would have thought we won the division by 25 games.
  19. i could also end up marrying a supermodel. So you're sayin there's a chance!
  20. Colvin could end the season with more RBI than Bradley. Haha.
  21. Bradley + prospect(s) for Meche while swapping salaries (Meche: 10: $12; 11: $12 - Bradley: 10: $9; 11: $12) Then look to deal Lilly or Z for a right fielder Meche was decent in 07 and 08, but struggled this year. However, he was hurt this year so he might rebound next year. He's 30, so he's getting up there, but he's not old enough to expect him to fall off a cliff. It might not be a great option, but it might be better than most. Didn't Milton try and fight the KC announcer? That might not go over well with the organization.
  22. Does that piece of [expletive] still get paid?
  23. Agreed. Hendry needs to be the fall guy on this one. It's always somebody else's fault with Bradley. It's not 1 or 2 instances, its EVERY SINGLE TEAM he's ever been on. Hell, even last year, HE CHARGED THE FREAKING TV BOOTH to fight an announcer. What a piece of crap human being.
