  1. if abbatacola takes over, i start listening to waddle and silvy again It'll be Laurence. Guaranteed. Unless he wants to keep his 120 Sports gig and night time slot.
  2. Law is a lot more tolerable when he loves your team's prospects.
  3. A lot of it was that in Lovie's defense, the corners weren't in 1 on 1 coverage a whole heck of a lot, therefore negating the need to have unbelievable cover skills. A guy like Tillman, a very good cover guy, but could also tackle well, which a lot of the very good cover CBs can't do, was the ideal Tampa-2 corner. Now that they're moving to a 3-4 with presumably more blitzing and 1 on 1 coverage, a top CB is more of a necessity and one of the reasons I'm worried about Jennings who has good ball skills and is a solid tackler, but isn't the best in 1 on 1 coverage.
  4. I don't think so. While Revis would obviously be an upgrade, there are areas that need significant FA dollars more than CB. While its not an elite CB duo right now, it does consist of last year's first round pick and a 2012 and 2013 Pro Bowler. Fair, but Jennings was garbage last year. This is probably his last year. You don't not go after Revis because you have Jennings. If the argument is that you'd rather spend on Safety, D-Line, etc...I'd buy it, but they didn't go strong after McCourty and have signed McPhee, so it at least makes a little bit of sense, no?
  5. Good for him coming from being a complete unknown to getting a huge contract. Hopefully he donates some of it to Peyton Manning's charity of choice. This is going to be a complete bust of a contract solely due to the atrocious Jags QB situation.
  6. Good atmosphere so far. The NYCFC goalie just smacked his head on the goal post and ridiculously stayed in the game. He had to have a concussion.
  7. Matt Harvey comes out guns blazing in his first inning back. 98MPH on the corners and broken 2 bats. Christ.
  8. I am listing mine on there now. But they don't allow instant download yet. Not sure how that works should they sell as I did the print at home option You'll have to enter the barcodes once you receive the tickets by the date you selected (default was like a week before the game). It's in the email they send you after you list.
  9. Our initial tickets (UD Infield Reserved) for Opening Day just sold on StubHub for $125 each plus fees. If you have seats out there, go raise your price a little bit as people are starting to realize the game is basically sold out and it's in high demand. Do it before the inevitable 30 degrees and rain forecast for that day comes out. We were lucky enough to get better seats for the game in the presale, so we basically got a free upgrade from the seats we originally had.
  10. If they're gonna suck, hopefully they suck bad enough to draft a potential replacement for Cutler (since I don't see him lasting much past next year) Agree. Suck hard if you're going to suck.
  11. Reinsdorf sucks, plus Miller has a roof that will eliminate rain outs which would be impossible to make-up with 162 home games all in the same season. Plus, I would not be surprised if gate revenues would be likely higher from Miller rather than Reinsdorf's stadium. Good point with the rainouts. Though, I wonder if higher % of revenue of a smaller crowd in Miller would still be more than a lower % of a larger crowd at Comiskey?
  12. I thought the idea of moving elsewhere for a season wasn't anything more than idle speculation. Damn. Why not work with the White Sox? Is Reinsdorf too much of a raging [expletive]?
  13. I was thinking, when Bryant is up something like this Fowler Soler Rizzo Bryant Montero Castro LF platoon/Alcantara P Baez Sexy.
  14. Completely agree on all fronts. Now, if they can get, say, a 3 and a 5 for Marshall and use the 3 on a good receiver, I could be on board. Still, though, would like to give Marshall/Cutler one last run OR completely rebuild rather than half ass rebuild by bringing in a guy like Hartline.
  15. So if they get Hartline, it's pretty much guaranteed that Marshall is gone, right? I'll trust Pace/Fox and the fact that everyone seems to think that Marshall's a knucklehead is probably enough proof, but it doesn't mean I won't question the fact that they don't think Marshall is far superior and that they can't make it work with him. That's disappointing.

  17. Basically not playing in a competitive game for 3-4 months tends to do that to you.
  18. Doesn't matter all that much since weather still sucks around this time for the northern teams so they're still on the road most of the time (although not nearly as long). Can't really move it back too much either because that means you're starting the tournament around mid-late June instead of late May and CWS would be in July sometime unless you shorten the season. MLB Draft is early June. You're messing with the deadlines for draftees and whatnot. See, I never understood the reason to have the baseball draft when it is. It's the only sport that has the draft during the middle of the season anyway, so why not move the draft to like right after the trade deadline? Move the start of the college baseball season back to mid-March or whatever, have the CWS championship be held in conjunction with the MLB All-Star Game in July--ideally have their games the Wed/Thur after the Tuesday baseball ASG, have the MLB draft on or around 8/1, ideally the draft picks become tradeable assets like every other normal sport. What are the rookies really accomplishing by playing 2 months of A ball or whatever? Would Kyle Schwarber be that much further behind without those 100 at bats off of guys who will mostly be working at Wal-Mart in 3 years anyway? I guess the signability of the HS kids is rushed then with colleges starting classes in mid-August, but with the current slotting system, most kids know what they are going to do when they are drafted. The downside is that the "student athletes" don't really get a summer break, but most of those guys are on-campus taking classes because they take the bare minimum during the baseball season or in Cape Cod leagues or whatever anyway during the summer. The current approach of basing college athletics off of the antiquated agriculturally based school year is dumb to me anyway.
  19. As of now, yeah. While expectations are high, if they start out 10-20 or something, demand will be the same as the past few years. If you are really into Cubs-Sox still for some reason and want to guarantee yourself tickets, you could do it as the MC/Pre-Sale premium would be about the same as StubHub prices, but no other game will be worth 15-20% more than face right away without some carrying costs involved due to the dynamic pricing tiers the Cubs already use for summer weekends and whatnot.
  20. There was an exclusive season ticket holder presale from 8a-10a. And from 10a today-10p Wednesday there is a pre-sale for basically everyone. If you use a MasterCard, it is a 15% premium on the price and if you don't have a MasterCard, it is a 20% premium on the price. Tickets go on sale to everyone on Friday as you mentioned. Apparently Opening Day sold out in less than 5 minutes. Not sure if they set aside a certain number of tickets for the presale or if all seats were available.
  21. Ha. Title edited. Thanks!
  22. I know we've had these in the past and it hasn't mattered the past few years for the most part, but I thought it would be nice to have given that tickets might actually be something worth discussing this year. Reminder: this isn't the right forum to be selling/buying. If you have tickets to give away for free, I think the mods would be OK with that. I'll start: Got some Opening Day tickets through the pre-sale this morning. We have season tickets, but people share them and we wanted to sit together, so we got 4 tickets in infield UD Box (vs. 2 infield UD Reserved where our tickets usually are). Praying for temps at least in the 40s for the most anticipated Cubs game since at least 2010, but likely 2009.
  23. I thought the Sharp Vermette Saad line looked quite good. Sharp had an extra hop in his step last night, likely for obvious reasons
  24. All of us would, but in no way would that be better financially which is probably why they didn't consider that more than one day most likely.
  25. If I had 4 M$ as a 16 year old I probably wouldn't have made it to 17. In fairness, his handlers and family members will probably steal most of it from him and he won't get to enjoy any of it.
