A lot of it was that in Lovie's defense, the corners weren't in 1 on 1 coverage a whole heck of a lot, therefore negating the need to have unbelievable cover skills. A guy like Tillman, a very good cover guy, but could also tackle well, which a lot of the very good cover CBs can't do, was the ideal Tampa-2 corner. Now that they're moving to a 3-4 with presumably more blitzing and 1 on 1 coverage, a top CB is more of a necessity and one of the reasons I'm worried about Jennings who has good ball skills and is a solid tackler, but isn't the best in 1 on 1 coverage.
