  1. Are we already at the point where it's basically useless for Schwarber to even be in the minors hitting-wise? He's already overall more advanced than Bryant was at this time last year, which is almost unfathomable. [expletive] MLB and their dumb ass DH rules.
  2. Bickell and Crawford out, Hawks give Saad a ridiculous offer sheet and two middle fingers to Columbus. Hahaha. Would be so awesome. CBJ would still just match. Would be a poor plan. I know, but how awesome would it be if they didn't.

  4. It could work for Boston since they could move easily. Chicago is stuck in Bridgeview for a while since that stadium is less than 10 years old. It was an awful idea when it was first presented and has played out as such. Put that thing in the South Loop or even by the UC and it's packed.
  5. He added another 10 today. Oh, and his pitch count over that course (including today) 109 110 109 113 120 112 119 125 111 111 Good thing the White Sox are using him in that fashion in such an important, franchise-defining season /puuuuuke Especially today, they're down 6-1 and leave him in there for at least 2 hitters after he hit 100 pitches. Dumb.
  6. THIS. The Hawks ones are absolutely fine. That LAC logo is atrocious.
  7. Just watched the replay of last night's game on CSN. Even though the Cubs struggled to score, they maintained good at-bats. The Fowler, Russell, and Denorfia at bats to end the game were all excellent. Fun stuff!
  8. The Score may not have bid on the Sox. The CBS group owns both 780 and 670 and this might have been their plan all along--using 780 as a 1 year bridge for the Cubs until the Sox deal expired so they could eventually get the Cubs on the Score.
  9. That's what she said? Well done!
  10. The Left Field "Moat" at the front of the bleachers is now the "Hornitos Hacienda" sponsored by Hornitos Tequila. Marketing it as a place for bachelor/bachelorette parties. Whatever. Get that paper, Tom Ricketts! http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20150619/BLOGS04/150619745/ivy-and-tequila-hornitos-signs-with-cubs-for-new-left-field-space
  11. also, don't bring up sosa because he played for zero of our rivals Tell that to the White Sox fans and front office. Unless we made them an offer they couldn't come up with any excuse to refuse for Sale (think Bryant and Russell or something equally ridiculous), it isn't going to happen because Jerry Reinsdorf and Kenny Williams think the rivalry is real.
  12. Once again, Soldier Field is pretty much the worst stadium experience on earth.
  13. Gomez and Chapman would be unbelievable. Unfortunately, also both in our division which tends to make trading for them tougher.
  14. 'Sup? http://image1.redbull.com/rbcom/010/2015-04-17/1331717679418_4/0010/1/1500/1000/4/kris-bryant-portrait.JPG
  15. Isn't this a decent comp for Schwarber? http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=11003&position=C/DH Evan Gattis was a terrible defensive catcher last year and was worth 2.2 WAR over 108 games. Extrapolate that out to ~125 games and you're looking at 2.5 WAR or so. If Schwarber is better offensively than Gattis was (which is likely due to OBP), it is likely he could be worth 4 WAR even while being a butcher out there. Derek Norris was also terrible on D, actually worse than Gattis, but had a better OBP, but worse SLG, and was worth 2.6 WAR last year. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=6867&position=C So, yeah, Schwarber could end up being extremely valuable as long as he's not completely incompetent behind the plate.
  16. The hotel was by O'Hare, not downtown so they had farther to go. I blame #PoorGaryBettman for making the cup guy stay all the way out there. I didn't even notice the lateness until a guy mentioned it on the street this morning while I was walking the dog. They claimed to have left the hotel right at puck drop, which still seems weird to me. Why not just park it at the stadium in advance? Traffic was insane yesterday due to the weather, but, still, no way they left at puck drop. I don't doubt that it took 2 hours from O'Hare to the UC, but that still would have gotten it there in time without the need for a police escort like they got. Maybe the cup guy was rubbing one out or eating dinner or something.
  17. Schwarber activated for tonight's game. Looking for a late inning pinch HR. Not too much to ask, right?

  19. There is a 100% chance that the players use this as some sort of faux outrage that "galvanized the team" and "helped them focus on the field to deliver the BFIB their 12th World Championship". I am already vomiting 4 months in advance of this obvious outcome. HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THIS? [expletive] the Cardinals.
  20. Missing Versteeg as well. Hes got 1 year $2.2M left. Would be nice to get him out in an effort to keep Vermette or Richards or Oduya. Doubt it works though.
  21. http://blog.ausbildung.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/GIF-bye-disdain-disgust-disgusted-do-not-want-gross-leaving-loathing-nauseated-no-thanks-WTF-GIF.gif ahhh they do get 2 bases, confused it with softball ASA only get 1 base.. but look at the video, castro technically had a ground rule double. http://m.cubs.mlb.com/news/article/130657384/replay-starlin-castro-walks-off-cubs-vs-reds-again I believe it is only a ground rule double if the OF immediately puts up his arms and the ump then calls it. The OF gave up on the ball and didn't care, so the ump wasn't going to make the effort to make the call. If the ball bounced into the stands for a "traditional" ground rule double then maybe he gets that added to his stat line automatically. Although he may have to hit second base to make it official. Castro should have run all the way to second. His OPS could use the slight increase he would have gotten.
  22. That's the Catholic school from my home town. My old coach is now coaching that team. Hahaha.
  23. Kenley Jansen being black is one of the most surprising things I've seen in a while. That's pretty much the whitest name ever. And, yes, that K/9 is something to behold. Uh.... it's his sixth season in the league. I had somehow never seen him until yesterday. And I looked it up, he's from Curacao, which makes the name thing make sense and me feel like a dick because the last name is likely slave related going back hundreds of years I'm sure. uhhhh isn't that the case 99% of the time? In the Western Hemisphere, yes. Anyway, guy is a great pitcher. Dumb of me to even make a comment despite my amazement.
