  1. I would guess our interleague schedule would look like this: @ White Sox @ Red Sox (never been) @ Tampa Bay (never been) vs. Baltimore (never been to Wrigley) vs. White Sox Fenway tickets, please :D :D :D
  2. That's the answer I wanted to hear. Hopefully that 2 year deal is with the Cubs so he can repeat his 2008 World Series MVP season... How sweet would that be, back to back in 07 and 08 Twice!
  3. Bring him back, but only on a very similar contract as this year. Maybe give him a vesting option or something if he wants multiple years.
  4. Let's just say Prior comes back next year and has a Rich Hill/Ted Lilly 2007-like year (~4.00 ERA, 175+Ks), what kind of contract offers does he get? I would say he could get at least 5/$75 out of someone if he doesn't get hurt at all next year. The real question would be, are the Cubs willing to do that? That being said, I can't see him wanting to stay here unless the fans and management absolutely "go down" on him next year...which they probably will.
  5. The real question is if he has any chance to become the starter next year? If we re-sign Kendall, I'll be pissed...even though he has been good with the Cubs. Because if we do, Soto is screwed. Blanco is getting severely overpaid to be a backup next year and the Cubs aren't gonna eat that money. But, yes, Soto should have a bit of a chance at MLBPOY, because the other guys who were tearing it up have already been significantly contributing at the major league level for the past few months.
  6. Can we redo this poll to add Michael Vick coverage? I can't wait until this guy is getting pounded in the rear from Bubba and we don't have to hear about plea agreements anymore.
  7. Williams is essentially lucky. The Sox caught lightning in a bottle in 2005 and "rode the lightning" to the championship. (Lame Metallica reference). I mean, they really had 4 complete games in a row in the ALCS? From very average pitchers. However, you can't really argue with what he did in 2005 offseason either...at the time. Now, however, who would you rather have, Chris effin Young and Rowand or Vasquez and Thome? Also, the Freddy Garcia trade is looking good now because he's injured, but what happens if he comes back and is decent for the next 2 years and Gavin Floyd predictably sucks and Gio Gonzalez doesn't pan out? In addition, the Dye extension is kind of risky, and not trading Crede last offseason was predictably disastrous. Do you realize they might have been able to land AROD for Crede and Garland and prospects last offseason? Yikes. Their lineup for next season should be pretty brutal unless they make a huge AROD signing or something like that. If they re-sign Rowand, their OF could be decent (Fields, Rowand, Dye), but their infield will be in shambles outside of Konerko. Paying all 4 starters over $10 million doesn't leave them much room for change, either. Their bullpen should continue to suck because Kenny won't pony up for middle relievers. Overall, I would give Williams an A, for the simple fact that he ended a 90 year drought. However, for any organization outside of Chicago or Boston, he would get a C.
  8. What were the odds to win the NLCS after game 4 in 2003? Probability does not account for bad luck and moronic managers/players.
  9. Best stat I've seen on this site in a long time. Holy crap, Bonds is good.
  10. From MLB.com The 30 runs were the most in the Major Leagues since 1900. The Boston Red Sox scored 29 runs in a game in 1950 and the Chicago White Sox matched that in 1955. Chicago of the National League scored 36 runs in a game in 1897.
  11. We really got the shaft in these pitching matchups. Lincecum, Zito, and Cain. At least the Brewers have to face Webb or I'd be a bit concerned here.
  12. Why not wait 11 days so you can keep Hill on the roster as well? They obviously feel like he has some sort of worth or he wouldn't have been around so long. Although anyone with a brain could see that Soto would have brought more to the table than Hill the last few months. Nevertheless, a curious move unless Blanco was threatening some sort of grievance for keeping him in the minor leagues.
  13. Thanks!
  14. Has anyone received an invoice for ordering playoff tickets? They usually send them out around the middle of August as long as the team is within 5 games or so of the playoffs. We haven't gotten ours yet, just wondering if anyone else has. Thanks.
  15. I'd rather have Dye for the next 3 years/$33 than Soriano for the next 7/$126
  16. ...Tony LaRussa should get a special, one-time only "Manager of the Century" award. I mean, seriously, they have the worst starter's ERA in the National League and a pretty much terrible lineup and they will probably win the division. If I ever have to hear any complaining from a Cards fan about "blah, blah, blah, this player died, so many injuries, blah, blah, blah," I might punch them in the face. It must be nice to root for a team that has a permanent lucky horseshoe planted in their rear ends. Cub fans would seriously contemplate murdering someone for the run the Cards have had under TLR...
  17. What a bad idea. An 18 year old kid who just signed and clearly hasn't been prepped for dealing with the media. That was absolutely hard to listen to. Bad move Cubs. Good luck to Josh in the future...
  18. Sweet info! Maybe at least Hendry knows what he's doing in this situation. When Floyd comes back, I would imagine that EPatt gets sent down and then recalled on Sept. 1, with a maximum of 16 days in Iowa. Nice job, Jimbo.
  19. Well, gotta give the guy credit for going after the pitcher's hands. If you're going to flip a lid and try to end some careers, at least be smart enough to hit him where it hurts... Freaking psycho
  20. Looks like the magical home runs that we have been missing lately weren't the answer. 3 homers in this game and we still lose. A 4th by Fontenot would have been nice though. We suck...
  21. Um...after 99 years, I'd take an outfield of Hussein, Hitler, and Bonds with Satan on the hill. People need to get over it. I remember in 2004 when people were saying "I don't even want to win it because Alou is such a complainer and Sammy cheated (cork) this year. Blah blah blah". Just win a damn trophy.
  22. His arbitration clock won't have started (there's no way he'd be up long enough this year to be a "Super 2" after 2009). His option clock would start, however. Thanks for the clarification. Starting his option clock still sucks.
  23. Good thing we started his arby clock for about 10 at bats... Although we could put Ramirez on the DL to activate Ward (that would suck)
  24. I hope I missed an attempt at sarcasm. Yeah, let's mail it in when we're 1 game out. Although in your scenario, Soto would be your catcher, not Old Man Kendall. If Ramirez is hurt, the other 24 guys in that clubhouse need to sack up and play some effin baseball. Excuses are for losers...
