  1. But sure, Callis is right, he totally can't handle Boise/Peoria Keith Law. Maybe it is not his bat, but his glove?? I think it's more his Keith Law. I am really not very concerned about sports writers. But I am interested in player development. When is a player ready to depart from Arizona. I find it hard to believe it is just when his bat is ready. Is Vogelbach ready, defensively, for the NWL.

Votto is out for 3 to 4 weeks. Picked up Delmon Young.

I vote to leave things the way they are.
  6. Baez isn't sticking at SS. Should we move him too? Baez will eventually become too big for SS, Geiger is physically not able to field third base like a professional should(.884 fielding percentage, stiff movements, lack of range). There's a difference. We wouldn't put Vogelbach at 2B for a season just to prove that he can't handle it, similarly there's nothing wrong with being honest about Geiger not being able to handle an infield position that isn't 1B. While there's little doubt he will eventually be moved, he's barely played 100 professional games, and he's only played 28 this year. I think it would be worthwhile to let him try 3B for at least a full season, if nothing more than to be able to get into a normal routine and not have to learn new positions in the middle of the year. He's not going to stick, so I don't see any reason to keep him there unless they need somebody to play the spot at whatever level he happens to be at. Unless Baez does get a lot bigger, I don't see any reason he can't stick at SS. He appears to have very good instincts, soft hands, and a rocket arm. I'm basing this on seeing him just one time, but he made several plays that would lead me to believe he can handle the position long term. I would concur. But I too, saw him just once, etc.....
  7. I would agree with the assessment that Baez has a cannon for an arm. I saw him play the other day in Peoria against the Burlington B's.
  8. Again, it appears to be interpretation of his tweets and no real confirmation yet. From what I saw of Dunston, I would not label him as a flop. He was rushed, but I think that he is still someone to keep an eye on. Be patient.

    Week 15

Are we having a 3 day week, or are these three days combined with next week? How many starts?
  10. I'm visiting my brother in Illinois. He is taking me to see the Chief's game tonight:)
  11. For some reason the Live Scoring is messed up. It still has Dickey pitching in the 6th. But I think the overall point totals are correct??? I wish I could take credit for picking Dickey in the draft. Sure I thought he was going to do well this year, but not this well.
  12. not quite true What happened when we played :-k
  13. Has anyone seen Rosario pitch this year. I saw him pitch for Boise last year. My memory was a real nice fastball, but he needed to work on his secondary stuff.

Going to take me a long time to get past that fit of insanity, isn't it? In this league would we resist the opportunity to get a dig in,...nah:)
  15. Raisin mentioned a .900 OPS. Makes sense to me. Badler loves him and said it's quite possible he could make it, by the way. Hmm...I would have doubted that someone who has only played in short season ball could make the list.
  16. I think Dunston is going to be a solid prospect.
  17. Nice ... wouldn't mind seeing him fast-tracked a bit more this year if he shows well in limited outings in Peoria. I wasn't too impressed with what I saw of Matt while he was with Boise.
  18. hell i hopped on that bandwagon after his second start. didn't know what his signing bonus was but sometimes you can hit it big on those raw lower bonus guys (castro, pie). nice to see him pitching so well against older competition and missing plenty of bats. He's smallish(under 6ft) and doesn't hit 90. More of a "knows how to pitch) guy. Keeps me from getting too excited over him. Your other guy is the one I want to know more about. Paulino is 6'2 at least, so he's got a projectable frame. No one has answered a question from me yet on him, so I've got no clue what he throws. But he's the pitcher, for now anyway, until we find out stuff, to keep an eye on down there. What I saw of Paulino was someone who topped out around 93. Nice fastball. Needed to work on his secondary pitches. His control was off.
  19. this would almost be exciting if it wasn't in boise This is also true. But I will remind you that Burke worked as a situational relief pitcher for Boise last year too (and he looked good). But having said that one should not get excited until he pitches like this at a higher level.

As the victim of this situation, let me remind everyone that this is a $10/year fantasy baseball game among friends. Am I upset that my opponent is essentially given a do-over? Yes, a bit. Do I understand the need to keep the rules simple? Yes, and in 95% of the situations the league's ruling would be good. But this time, it actually worked to my opponents advantage. Do I think that my opponent purposely mishandled his line-up? No. I would be happy if the league kept with its current ruling, but I would like to make the following suggestion. Maybe our penalties should be like those for football, where the assessment of the penalty is up to the victim. ie ... Do you want the play to stand or do you want to apply the penalty? So if a holding penalty is assessed on a play where the offense lost 15 yards, then the defense declines the penalty. Automatically assessing the penalty could actually help the perpetrator. So does the victim want all the stats from the day erased or let the stats from the day stand? Remember, justice needs to be blind here. If at some point in the future I make a similar mistake, then this choice needs to be given to my opponent. I would like to point out what is probably obvious to everyone. Adam is not the innocent by-stander in this situation. A Quaker's win could mean a great deal to him. Again relax and have fun. A heated discussion of the league's rules is part of the fun of the game.
  21. Wow they really don't like Marra I guess. If they didn't like him, he'd stay in Boise. They want him to actually get into games, which he'll do in Mesa. He wasn't going to play ahead of Contreras and 2 college seniors. Raisin is right. BTW, Marra looked good in his one game. All three singles were solid hits and he looked decent defensively.

I think his stats from yesterday are on the stats page. What was the illegality. 4 reserves? After doing his trades, he had the following issues: You have 17 active players. At most 16 are allowed. You have 8 active Pitchers. At most 7 are allowed. You have 11 Pitchers. At most 10 are allowed. He's made the roster legal since then. Ok, but have you given him his oints from yesterday? I am most concerned about the two starts he used.
