  6. Wow, I wonder if they got him confused with Jeff Clement of Seattle, he is the All Time US HS HR Champ with 75.
  7. FYI- My DISH Network TV Guide shows that this game WILL be on TV Live at 2PM on ESPN2 Alternate, Channel 146 I believe. Not sure about other networks, but ESPN will be carrying it live on their "Alternate" Channel.
  8. btw... Mitre threw 2 scorless innings in his start vs Mulder, and did not walk a batter. Borowski also pitched a scoreless inning giving up a hit and a walk.
  9. Historically in his career you are correct, however, he is making the decision fairly difficult with his performance this spring. Judging players based on spring performances is really silly. It's not a lot of playing time, and the competition that playing time comes against varies wildly. Pagan's on the 40-man, so it's not like a decision must be made on him right away either. True enough, I wouldn't argue that, I am just saying he is playing very well. Some other's cant say that so much.
  10. Historically in his career you are correct, however, he is making the decision fairly difficult with his performance this spring. It's only been 7 games, that's not that big a sample to say he's making the decision fairly difficult. Well since we have only played 7 games and he has been impressive so far, I would say the Cubs brass is looking extremely hard at him...I am not implying he is a world beater, but if he keeps up this type of play the decision will be fairly difficult.

  12. He's definately got speed on his side, hopefully he can really come around as a hitter. No sooner said, and Pagan raps a double !! This is really encouraging to see...the brass has to be happy with him so far.

  14. Fox has been hitting great this spring. If you want to follow the prospects stats, I am following them on my website... http://www.cubsminorleaguereport.com/springtraining06.asp
  15. Exactly, so why risk it. It is easier to promote than to demote him and he is still young enough that Peoria is a safe place to start. I hate the obsession by the Cubs with wanting to rush young kids...
  16. I dont like the idea of sending Veal to Daytona. He is very young and there is no need to rush him. Start him in Peoria and make let him make the club promote him. Holliman in Daytona is not a problem however.
  17. Upton's future is in the OF, probably Center.
  18. I am not saying that these guys will be world beaters, but this is a start for you to research a little... Off the top of my head...I know I am missing some, The NL crop of Rookies is very good this year. Francisco Liriano lhp Minnesota, Jeff Mathis c LA Angels, Justin Huber 1b KC, Ian Kinsler 2b Texas, Andy Marte 3b Indians, Delmon Young OF Tampa, Nick Markakis OF Baltimore, Brian Anderson CF Chicago WS, Kenji Johjima(sp) C Seattle, Jon Papelbon rhp Boston, Jason Kubel OF Minnesota, Justin Verlander rhp Detroit, Joel Zumaya rhp Detroit, Anthony Reyes rhp Cardinals, Craig Hansen rhp Boston, Jeremy Hermida OF Florida, Josh Barfield 2b San Diego, Prince Fielder 1b Milwaukee, Mike Jacobs 1b Florida, Ryan Zimmerman, 3b Washington, Jason Hirsh rhp Houston, Matt Cain rhp San Francisco. Conor Jackson 1b Arizona, Paul Maholm lhp Pittsburgh, Anyone else? Who am I missing here?
  19. The only difference I would have Tim, is switching Billingsley and Cain on your list...Cain simply walks a few too many batters for me to rate him above Billingsley
  20. It just struck me as funny for some reason to see you put Ervin Santana in with this group of pitchers...Santana is nowhere near the others in this group in my book.
  21. Where is Pie going to start 2006? AAA? Most likely. Though a really bad showing in ST could land him back at West Tenn. That would not be the worst thing for his development either...I just hope the Cubs begin being patient with him since they have Pierre at the big league level...
