  1. Now I can order my kevin gregg jersey with confidence! In all seriousness though, I do want a Bradley jersey.
  2. Can we please go back to discussing the correlation between Z's bat and his salary? That was the point of this thread? If there's nothing else to say, that's fine, but can you guys spare me the sarcasm next time?
  3. To be honest I was hoping you'd come across this and expand upon it. I was unaware you had already.
  4. You're welcome. Hey, did you know Z is a good hitter? no, i dont watch cub's baseball much  I just didn't understand your comment. I know it's obvious that he's a good hitter, but I liked how it statistically broke it down. I don't understand your sarcasm? I thought it was interesting.

  6. My Mariners friend sent this to me. Enjoy. Carlos Zambrano is underrated Well, underrated in sabremetric circles, anyway. I know what you're all going to say too. He had a 4.17 tRA last year - above average, sure, but worth nothing close to the $18+ million dollars the Cubs spent on him. In fact, his pitching WAR (tRA based, not FIP), was 3.3, which would value him at around around $15 million. An overpay, then? Only if all you do is look at pitching statistics. Zambrano's true value was actually more than $20M. How? Hitting.
  7. It really does feel like most teams in baseball got worse. I don't know if end season W/L records will (or can) reflect that, but it's definitely how I'm perceiving things right now. In most cases it seems the money is simply not there to improve teams.
  8. My senior year I got in a huge argument with some old fart because he had an old leather "Pekin Chinks" coat on at a home basketball game for Pekin. Honestly I don't even know how he was allowed in a public area with that crap on. Asshat. I have two adopted sisters from China, plus lived there myself, so needless to say I was far from thrilled. Pekin is an incredibly backwards, racist town (they hate all non-whites equally, dont worry). I feel sorry for anyone that grew up or has to live there. I smile to myself every time they lose in any HS sporting event. Even better if the Panthers or Lions destroy them.
  9. Don't know about everyone else, but I'd rather stay INSIDE until about mid April - early May. ..you know what? you got me there.
  10. You could always buy a hard copy of it from the Tribune website for at most 2 dollars. I'm going to try and find one at the library later today, and scan it there, if no one has already. I don't really want to order one off the web just to see one page. :\
  11. $1.7M upgrade over last year for Gregg I'm going to reserve judgment on this for now...but...
  12. lol at the people predicting the demise of the 09 cubs already. go outside.
  13. Man that outfield really lacks power, though. They may end up with less than 30 HR's total between the 3. How many dingers did the Rays' OF hit last year? They were considered a fairly successful OF right?
  14. I'd be shocked if Pie puts up better numbers than Reed Johnson this year or next.
  15. no one on this board lives in chicago, and can place a piece of paper on a machine?
  16. You beat me to it, Ping.
  17. I don't understand the pansies complaining about April weather. I'd rather attend a subzero outdoor game then a perfect temperature game in a dome. Even if its baseball.
  18. your stadium sucks
  19. I can't believe people are complaining about a manager that led us to back-to-back division championships. Please save me the comment of 'with our payroll, a monkey could do it'. That's not true. I could give about 100 examples of talent-laden teams that completely failed, but what's the point. Lou is awesome.
  20. I'd rather have Blanco or Bako over LoDuca. As far as backup catchers go, I'd prefer at least a little continuity. LoDuca offers crap offense, crap defense, isn't familiar with any of our pitchers....I fail to see the purpose of acquiring him.
