  1. Amazing what can happen when you put people where they belong in a lineup.
  2. ? I don't follow. I just expect too much from him I guess. He has 5 Ks, so that accounts for a larger number of pitches. But, at the same time, I'd like to see him go as deep as possible and with his elbow still being injured, high PCs don't really allow for that.
  3. Prior's 48 pitches through 3 innings is obscene.
  4. Can you spin every event in the game to something negitive? Thanks in advance. I'm not spinning anything. Sure you are. It was a hit and you turned it into some ficticious negitive. JC - Point taken. Just trying to enjoy the game I can't watch from work. The excessive negitivity brings me down from time to time. Carry on. EDIT: Everyone on the same page.
  5. Can you spin every event in the game to something negitive? Thanks in advance. I'm not spinning anything. Lets not look for fights in the game thread.
  6. I'm not sure there would be a definitive explanation. We could easily speculate that because he sucked wearing 9 he wanted to try something else. If you want to start a rumor, find out a good player who wears 9 and construct a trade involving that player.
  7. Keifer Sutherland landed an Emmy nomination.
  8. Watch him bat .390 from here on out. And Mariotti come out with a novel article about the cheap Cubs and how Preston Wilson is a savior that would allow Cubdom to forget the tragically flawed Corey Patterson.
  9. I was just thinking the same thing. He didnt used to be 24.... That's what I thought as well. His old number was 9. Has he taken his mask off? Perhaps the Cubs signed Jack Bauer... :cloud9:
  10. Man, you've completely lost me on this one. I think they are the best to listen to, by a fairly wide margin. Same here. I love Mike Patrick. Are you guys serious? Among the football community I belong to these guys are one man short be being the four horsemen of the apocolapse. They are easily the worst football crew ever assembled. I think I would rather listen to a non-stop loop of a babies crying during the game than these guys. I agree that Patrick is serviceable but the Thiesman McGuire combo is brutal. Sometimes I wish LT would go into the booth and break theisman's leg again so he would just shut up. McGuire's "Let me tell ya, this guy, you see this guy right here? Let me tell ya, this guy right here, he's a football player! Ha Ha Ha! I mean, let me tell you, this guy, he likes to play football, ha ha!" is unbearable. You two are honestly the first people I have encountered who actually like these guys. I usually watch the Sunday night games on mute (I do like to hear the sounds of the game though). This topic was discussed during the football season, probably before you came around. I think there are several people that agree. As a three person booth, I think all three work well together. I generally can't stand Joe Theisman, but I think he offers quite a bit from the booth. And, while Paul McGuire is the goof of the bunch, he is entertaining to me, and his banter with Patrick and Theisman is fun to listen to. The three of them strike a good balance of football vs. other talk. Michaels and Madden are awful together and have been since day one. Simms and Gumbel are good, but I prefer a 3 man booth and those two can be dry on occassion. Collinsworth is a nob, but Aikman is continuing to grow in his role, I think. The ESPN crew is the best for my money. For the sake of this thread and for not rehashing old discussions, I'll just say that I couldn't possibly disagree with you more. I hate those guys and the butcher job they do probably more than I dislike anyone involved with the game of football. Ha! You're scared. Just kidding. I'll start a new thread in Social if you'd like to respond further. Non-Premium
  11. OMG! The man flies?! Can you imagine being stuck on a plane with him? :headache:

  14. I'm sure that Cedeno will get sent down. He is not exactly excelling in a backup role. Yeah. 1 for 16 since his callup. 17 PA's in 13 games, sheesh. That sure doesn't live up to the 17 hits Dusty got in his first 8 ABs.
  15. The Cards look to have better ML ready pitching. Reyes has a 3.32 ERA and a boatload of Ks. Wainright has a 6-6 record with an ERA in the mid 3s. Interestingly, the Cards also have Kevin Jarvis at AAA putting up a pretty good ERA (3.00). :x
  16. Of course, Bruce Levine has a track record like a one legged horse.
  17. Hairston Walker Lee ARam Nomar Burnitz Murton Barrett Provided Nomar returns truly healthy, of which I am highly skeptical, he would be able to protect ARam at least as good as Burnitz. Of course, Neifi will play for Walker against lefties, and swap out Nomar against many righties...
  18. No thanks. Furcal's OBP this year is .310. It hasn't approached the high water mark in his rookie year of .394, with .354 being the next highest year.
  19. What number are you thinking, Craig?
  20. I think I'd rather have him say that than what could be the real reason --- fans making Wrigley Field the UnFriendly Confines. boo! I was waiting for someone to say that! The thing that makes you wonder what's going on is that the Cubs since the '84 playoffs are playing under .500 ball at Wrigley during the postseason, too. In '89, Will Clark was unconscious. In '98, Atlanta was clearly a better team. In '03, Bartman, AGon, Baker, Prior and Wood choked.
  21. I have remained pretty confident that Nomar would return in 2006. He really has little choice unless he wants to play 2B for the Angels or Dodgers. Then again, with the new Chicago house, perhaps the White Sox would jump in for his services next year? :-k I'd give Nomar $3-5M with incentives. Cedeno is a nice player, and my choice if Nomar bolts, but he can't compete with Nomar if he has anything left in the non-injury tank. (Big 'if'.)
  22. A-Rod did look at his citizenship card. It has two countries on it as he has dual citizenship, USA & DR. The United States doesn't recognize dual citizenship, I'm fairly sure. The DR may recognize his U.S. citizenship, but the U.S. doesn't recognize his DR citizenship. I think you're right on here. This issue often comes up with respect to Jewish citizens granted citizenship by Israel.
  23. Eck is precluded due to the HOF provision.
  24. A-freakin'-Men. ARod has turned into a wanker since donning pinstripes.
