  1. Baseball malpractice is what it is. With all due respect to people that say Dusty is even an average manager, his continued lineups of this nature say otherwise. It may be one small aspect of the game, but it is a hugely significant one. He has wasted three months of the most potent bat in the league. Does that sound like something an average manager would do?
  2. *Sigh* I know its an opportunistic time to say it, but I'd rather still have Farnsworth.
  3. Borowski would have gotten the out. (J/K)
  4. Yep. sportsline says that macias is still in Yeah, I saw that. The real sad part is that for an instant, I thought Dusty actually could have done such a thing (double switching for Neifi instead of Macias who just made the last out).
  5. I just arrived. Someone please tell me how Macias 3B, Neifi SS is better than Neifi 3B, Cedeno SS? Are we really asking that much of Baker to use common sense? Jesus, that man is infuriating.
  6. I get the distinct feeling that Walker does not agree with many of Dusty's philosophies. I think Walker likes him as a player's manager, but I don't think he often sees eye-to-eye with him, going back to comments he made last year. At this point, on the days there is a lefty on the mound, Corey should get spelled by Hairston rather than Walker.
  7. I don't think trying to get around the word censor like this is something that Tim or the mods appreciate. Tim had previously asked people to avoid such attempts in a post some time ago, but I think its be more prevalent recently. Just a friendly suggestion. Thank you Mr. Rogers. Hey, its a slippery slope. Recently, I've noticed this habit more and more. I'm not threatening anyone (as I have no power to do so), and I don't know whether he was aware of that policy. Thus, my post was a simply caution before the mods got to it. Though not a mod, as a responsible member of this community, I make no apologies for bringing a board policy to the forefront when necessary.

  9. Hendry has wisely taken advantage of salary dump and player dump (Nomar) situations. But, to suggest that he is hoodwinking anyone is absurd. The teams that are being traded with have their own responsibility for scouting and agreeing to the selected players. Hendry isn't playing any slight of hand, and I would doubt he would tell you differently. The responsibility of getting value in return is a function of the opposing team moreso than Hendry's manipulation.
  10. As far as the big, fat, slug analogy goes, while I wouldn't go that far, he seems to have gained some weight. Thought they aren't terribly restrictive, I do have some mobility concerns with Dunn.
  11. Prior to the season, Maddux needed 187.2 innings to get his option to vest. Maddux has thrown 101.2 innings so far in the first three mos. of the season. He has made 17 starts. Thus, with half of the season over, Maddux has only to pitch 86 more innings to vest. (Note the sig.) Barring some injury, Maddux will easily make his mark. Some may even go so far as to say his contract is akin to a large web-footed bird, chiefly of the oceans of the Southern Hemisphere, and having a hooked beak and long narrow wings.
  12. She is likely giving Jim Edmonds the nod since they both look like they learned to apply makeup from the same person.
  13. WHAT!?! My two favorite things.... Jennifer Anniston's knockers.
  14. The board is under a denial of service attack right now. The regular board has been temporarily disabled while I work on things. Premium members still have access. Membership has its advantages.
  15. Maddux's ERA is precariously close to 5.00.
  16. I think the Dread Pirate Roberts could steal off Maddux even after being mostly dead all day.
  17. Mitre has been up already. Thanks, Fred. That didn't show up on sportsline.
  18. You need the hitters to hit for themselves though since you only have 5 bench guys and don't want to run out early. I wasn't suggesting a double switch. Just have Mitre ready. If Maddux rights the ship and Mitre isn't used, fine. My point was that if you burn Mitre with the warm ups, there are plenty of yahoos left in the pen.
  19. With that stupid 7 man bullpen, I would consider getting Mitre up now. Maddux is near 40 pitches for just 2 innings, so its obvious he can crash and burn in the third. If he started to struggle, I wouldn't hesitate to pull him as it looks like this could be a moderately high scoring affair. Why have a 7 man pen if you can't take advantage of it?
  20. Nice job, Jose. Way not to suck.
  21. Wow. Maddux is getting beaten like a pinata hanging from a rented mule standing on a dead horse.
  22. It doesn't look like Maddux brought his $9M arm today.
  23. In the immortal words of Arne Harris, two runs won't win this game!
  24. In 40 ABs against the Cubs, Hall has 4 homers. In the remaining 185 ABs against everyone else, he has 8 homers. Jerk.
