  1. Man, this thread is like a support group meeting. I'm just picturing you all sitting in a circle, drunk, depressed, and on the verge of tears....And I can't help thinking how bad it will be if we blow this lead....I'm getting depressed and nothing bad has happened.
  2. Jesse Jackson deserves to be kicked in the head by a horse. I can't think of many people who perpetuate racism more than him.
  3. http://www.scholastic.com/goosebumps/books/popups/images/say-cheese-and-die-again.jpg
  4. I want him to be real so bad....I'm just going to pretend that he is.
  5. Yeah, I got $5 tickets....they're crappy seats....but they're also $5.
  6. Is Zambrano still scheduled to pitch next Friday?
  7. Jesus would have understood if you would have put it off til the off day.
  8. I'll be there with a group of 7 on Friday night. Looking very possible that it'll be the clincher.
  9. 1. Murton 2. Zambrano 3. Ramirez 4. Lee 5. Marmol If Prior ever comes back, he'll probably be 2 or 3.
  10. Yeah, $30m for a 42 year old Arod seems pretty scary. Bonds is the exception, not the norm. And he's probably the exception due to large amounts of steroids. I think could handle 6 or 7 years.
  11. I'm feeling good about Zambrano. He was starting to get back on track until he had to pitch on 3 days rest, and he didn't even do that bad last time out. I think he'll shut them down.
  12. Not much. You can't understate just how good Fielder and Braun have been. It's hard to see them being much better. Fielder will probably be as good, but Braun is probably going to regress at least a little bit. Having a full season of Gallardo will be a big boost, and perhaps Parra. But I don't see their offense getting much better. I just think the Cubs underperfomed this year. Only in September have we seen what was expected out of the offense all year. It's going to be a tight one in 2008, but I see both teams winning 90+ instead of the low to mid-80's. Yeah, I don't really get all the talk of how the Brewers are just going to keep getting better. Ryan Howard has dropped over .100 in OPS from last year to this year and he's not old. Look at Bill Hall. I really doubt all these guys are just going to improve exponentially. I'm not saying they don't have a lot of talent, but I think some people are getting carried away.
  13. I feel bery compertable at de homeplate.
  14. Ram and Lee trades weren't bad either. Agreed, which is why I said the Hart trade might go down as ONE of his best rather than THE best. However, I would be VERY happy if this did end up being his best trade. I doubt Hart has that much potential though.
  15. I'm hoping for the first game in Cincinnati to be the clincher. It may or may not have anything to do with me having tickets to that game.
  16. Hey, Chicago, what do you say The Cubs are gonna win today. They're singing ... Go, Cubs, go Go, Cubs, go Hey, Chicago, what do you say The Cubs are gonna win today. Go, Cubs, go Go, Cubs, go Hey, Chicago, what do you say The Cubs are gonna win today. They got the power, they got the speed To be the best in the National League Well this is the year and Cubs are real So come on down to Wrigley Field We're singing now ... Go, Cubs, go Go, Cubs, go Hey, Chicago, what do you say The Cubs are gonna win today. Go, Cubs, go Go, Cubs, go Hey, Chicago, what do you say The Cubs are gonna win today. Baseball time is here again You can catch it all on WGN So stamp you feet and clap your hands Chicago Cubs got the greatest fans. You're singing now ... Go, Cubs, go Go, Cubs, go Hey, Chicago, what do you say The Cubs are gonna win today. Go, Cubs, go Go, Cubs, go Hey, Chicago, what do you say The Cubs are gonna win today.
  17. It took 2 or three games combined to get the game threads to 12 pages. I remember getting home during a game last year in the 7th inning and checked the game thread to see what had been going on and there hadn't been a post since the 4th inning.
  18. Cubs were up 0.5 games on the Giants and 2.5 games on the Astros with 8 games to play (and only 7 to play for the Astros). The Cubs were up 3 in the loss column at that point. Oh...hey guys...shut up
  19. Soto already getting the Bonds treatment.
  20. Like sometime in 2016? Shoot, he'd only be 33 years old...I'm thinking he'll keep it up at least to his early 50's.
  21. Player A: 266/387/556 (2007); 249/381/511 (career) age 27 Player B: 291/336/520 (2007); 272/324/470 (career) age 31 Player A, please. Your stats don't reflect defense or the grit factor. black guys don't have grit nor do they carry lunch pails to work or blue collar kind of guys. nor are they scrappy, hard-nosed, gamers, spark-plugs, or guys who just play the game right Come on now, I've definitely heard Juan Pierre described as such. Crappy, over-hyped players know no color (but yes, there are a lot more white ones).
  22. this is for Ron: OH MY GOD!!! YESSSS!!! OH YEAH!!!! YESSSS! HAHA!!! OH MY GOD!!!!
  23. runner on 3rd, one out....please please please
  24. Maybe not, but I'd be fine with an undeserved win.
