  1. Nobody has been realistically projecting huge things for Soto. He should definitely be an improvement over last year. And how do you figure the rotation will regress? Zambrano had his worst full season as a pro, it was Hill's first full season, and with all the options for 4-5, that shouldn't be any worse than last year. Lilly may regress but it won't be by a whole lot.
  2. I think I remember last year you saying the Cubs would get 4th in the division, so things are looking up.
  3. Does anyone else see a little bit of irony in this post? This is a message board and not a blog...big difference. Not understanding why the boys here are always wanting to fight with me and challenge everything I say. Been a little more vocal of late because what I say no longer affects my employment as it did in the past. No, before you ask, I am not Carrie Muskat or any other beat writer. I bet its because they're sexist and not because you're an anonymous internet poster.
  4. With the Indians and Tigers in their division, "probably" doesn't belong in that sentence. And comparing them to the Cubs: (factoring in defense) LF: Soriano > Fields CF: Pie < Swisher RF: Fukudome = Dye (can't really know yet, could go either way) 1B: Lee > Konerko 2B: DeRosa > Richar SS: Theriot < Cabrera 3B: Ramirez >> Crede C: Soto = Pierzynski (I would bet on Soto being better, but I'll be safe and say equal) The White Sox have more question marks in their rotation, so I'd give the edge to the Cubs The Cubs bullpen should be significantly better. The Sox do have a much better bench. A lot of this is just my opinion, but I'd say the Cubs easily have the better team.
  5. Do you have like, 2 posts that you just copy and paste from?
  6. I don't know why I'm even gonna bother, but I can't help myself. A lot of "baseball people" aren't very intelligent minds and are only in baseball circles because they were good at playing it at some point in their lives and were able to move up the ranks when they were done. That's not to say that that is the case with all of them, but many of them. Why some people refuse to understand this is beyond me. I'm not even saying it (necessarily) about the names you mentioned, but CHRIST, is it that hard to believe that some people in the general population who happen to post on baseball message boards just might be smarter people or better at analyzing the game than this fraternity of former players? Is it also that hard to believe that some of these smarter individuals (although the tide is starting to finally turn a bit) have a hard time getting into the game's upper ranks because this fraternity has historically generally only allowed its own in? Joe Morgan is "in the know," too. Yep, you basically just touched on my biggest pet peeve ever. BTW, you seem pretty certain that Piniella and Hendry think Soriano leading off is a bad idea, considering the fact that they did it all year last year. Ummm...Joe Morgan PLAYED baseball. Therefore, he is smarter than anyone who hasn't played major league baseball. How hard is THAT to understand?
  7. Every week everyone says the Patriots are going to win in a blowout but it hasn't happened in the past several weeks. After the Chargers beat the Colts everyone was predicting 41-10 and such, but it didn't turn out that way even with Rivers and LT hurt. The Patriots are probably going to win, but it won't be a blow out.
  8. I know you Colt fans will hate me for saying this, but I'm actually as irritated at Indy for rolling over for the Chargers as I am at Norv and his horrible coaching ability. If only the Colts had been in this game, there would have been a good chance they would have won. Oh well. How do you think we feel? I'm right there with you. Yeah, no argument here.
  9. Stupid good for nothing Chargers.
  10. This has been some absolutely horrible game management by the Chargers. That's their second ridiculous timeout call.
  11. What a stupid timeout by the Chargers.
  12. WOOO!!! Suck it, Brady!
  13. Alright, stop sucking, Rivers.
  14. I knew I shouldn't have posted that.
  15. Chargers defense looking great so far.
  16. Where did this thread come from? I looked back 2 pages.
  17. Charger @ New England Giants @ Green Bay I don't really think the Chargers will win, but I'm going to pretend I do. Here's hoping for a Patriots loss and then Randy Moss going to prison for hitting a woman.
  18. My post on page 66 of this thread. One you (illiniguy) clearly read, because you took exception to it and responded to it by naming about 10 other teams you thought were better (I'd like to point out that of those teams Xavier, Dayton, Butler, and Texas A&M all lost to non-ranked teams). So right there, I named two 1-loss teams that I think are better than IU, and Georgetown was a 1-loss team when I posted that. How convenient of you to forget that. And again, I have repeatedly called UCLA the best team in the nation in this thread. My bad, I mix a lot of you IU fans up. If Minn and Illinois shoot free throws like most girls junior high teams you lose twice this past week. Teams start to lose on the road in conference. And if IU made a few more shots, the games wouldn't have been that close. Its like Gordon Bombay obsessing about missing that shot by a quarter of an inch and then Charlie has the wisdom to tell him if it was a quarter of an inch the other way he would have missed it completely. You, illiniguy, are obviously not as wise as Charlie Conway.
  19. I hope you're saying that you have a very good chance.
  20. They just need to get a bedazzler and go to town on those bad boys.
  21. Oh yeah, you guys are in the same league as UCLA or Tennessee. Ohhhhhhhhh shoot, son! You did not just give him the eyeroll! Major props!
  22. I assume you're referring to IU. That was some kind of ugly. How many turnovers did they end up with?
  23. I'd say that this is not great, but doesn't suck. If we could get rid of Marquis and trade for Burnett or someone similar and have a rotation of Z, Hill, Burnett, Lilly, Lieber then this would be a really good move in my opinion. But I doubt that happens.
  24. Both teams have a pretty wide fan base. The Colts mostly just because of Manning. Wasn't it one of the highest rated superbowls?
