  1. Wieters is in AA. Milb is wrong. He is on the Bowie BaySox OPS 1.081 in 42 plate appearances. Limited plate appearances so far. But, thought I'd throw it out there. Ah. Well thank you, I didn't know that.
  2. I'd really hate to trade Hill now. His value is really low and he might be turning it around. However, I would do that trade.
  3. He would, given his position and how far Vitters is from the bigs. Touche
  4. I mentioned yesterday: Wieters is OPS'ing 1.024 in A+ ball at age 22 Vitters is OPS'ing .923 in A- ball at age 18. I'm not even sure Wieters has more value right now. He would have to the Indians, but I don't know about overall.
  5. Cubs don't match up poorly with a Burnett deal. Though that could end up as a disaster in its own way I guess. He can be had for peanuts Why does everybody keep assuming that? What motivation does Toronto have to trade him if it's for "peanuts"? That doesn't make sense to me. They've pretty much come out and said they want to get rid of him and that the asking price isn't very high. They want to dump his contract.
  6. So, at worst the offense is a wash. And the starters? And the pen? Mets and Mets. The Brewers aren't that good. I'd say they're similar teams. With the addition of Sabathia, I really doubt the Mets make up 5.5 games on them.
  7. Check both teams offensive numbers and get back to me. This is me getting back to you. A whopping 9 more runs in half a season. That doesn't change my mind. Especially since Milwaukee has a higher OPS. I would bet on the Brewers having more runs by the end of the season.
  8. That's not even close to a good comparison. do explain. vitters is somewhat of a project whose trade value, if he pans out, is likely to be highest 3 years down the road when he's continued to hit well into AA. wieters is a known commodity who is likely to come in and destroy minor league pitching right away. wieters offers more trade value on the open market at this time, which is something that should be very important to a "built to win now" team like the cubs. Why are you assuming their sole purpose for drafting was immediate trade value?
  9. The Cubs offense is better the Brewers WITHOUT Soriano. As far as (b) goes, that spot will be occupied by the Phillies or Mets. The Mets aren't that good. For the wild card they are. Stack them up against the Brewers and who would you take? Starters? Maybe a slight edge to Milwaukee. Pen? Mets, easily. Offense? Mets. I would take the Brewers offense 10 days a week over the Mets. Not really. Actually, not at all. Oh, I wouldn't? My bad.

  11. Wieters is OPS'ing 1.024 in A+ ball at age 22 Vitters is OPS'ing .923 in A- ball at age 18. I wouldn't throw in the towel on that move just yet.
  12. The Cubs offense is better the Brewers WITHOUT Soriano. As far as (b) goes, that spot will be occupied by the Phillies or Mets. Philies will win the division and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Mets finish 4th.
  13. You know we had something like an 8.5 game lead on them not long ago. Even when they were up 8.5 games last year, the pythagorean records were within a game or so. After their hot stretch that has brought them to within 3.5 games of us, our pythagorean record is 9 games better than theirs. I just thought his little taunt was pretty unnecessary.
  14. There was noise of them going after Matt Holliday, but if the Rockies do move him, its pretty safe to say that the Angels will be adding him to their logjammed outfield/DH spot. The Cards are just anxiously waiting for the 2 weeks when Carpenter and Mulder are healthy. If they're anxiously awaiting them being effective, they'll be anxiously waiting a long time.
  15. You know we had something like an 8.5 game lead on them not long ago. That ground has been made up during what I believe will end up being by far the Cubs' worst stretch all year. I'm surprised they didn't close more ground. I don't think they're going to pass us. I just thought it was dumb to start mocking Brewers fans when they've made up like 5 games on us in the past couple weeks.
  16. We'll lose 2 of the next 6, max. No Volquez or Lincecum. The matchups are all favorable. I don't know the matchups for the Giants series, but the Reds series is tailor made for a sweep. Obviously, looking good on paper doesn't mean everything, but I like our chances.
  17. You know we had something like an 8.5 game lead on them not long ago.
  18. Oooooh, that's exciting to hear. Knock us on our asses, Jim.
  19. We need Bruce to come give us some good news about what Hendry is up to.
  20. I dont think he'll stink up the joint, but I dont think he suddenly makes the Brewers a lock for the division, or even the playoffs. If Gallardo ends up coming back, then watch out. What? Sheets, Sabathia, Parra, Suppan, Bush=good rotation. Sheets, Sabathia, Parra, Gallardo, Suppan/Bush=watch out. I think he meant that it's a pretty done deal that he's out for the year. That's what I thought I've heard anyway.
  21. If were going to go for Hudson, may as well go for broke and go for Peavy. Im just saying. Either one is fine with me. I think Peavy would cost more and is a little bit more of an injury risk....but it'd be awesome to have him.
  22. Harden is better than CC, if healthy. That's just a big if. But i agree with vance about trying to pry Hudson from the Braves.
  23. lets be realistic here. There are other contending teams in need of pitching, and they will be pushing just as hard for these guys. I think Hendry can pull a rabbit out of a hat and get one, but I dont see him getting both. If we are going to get Harden, were going to give up a lot. Probably more than hes worth. Yeah, I just really want Jim to do something to counter this.
  24. He wasn't going to stand pat before this. I want him to just come out swinging like a madman. Snatch up Harden, Burnett, and Milton Bradley. I don't think any of them would cost all the much. Harden maybe, but his injury history cheapens him a good bit, I think. Right now the Brewers are probably feeling on top of the world. This would send them right back down.
