Sounds like Kirby Smart has been offered the Florida DC job. I'm betting he goes.

yeah, he's holding out for a better job. If he doesn't get the head coaching offer he wants this offseason, then Auburn will be willing to give him 1.3-1.5 million/season to remain the offensive coordinator. I'd prefer Malzahn over Chizik as AU's head coach. Or Muschamp offering him that at Florida. He is the guy Muschamp wanted at Texas, but he is also the guy most every school who needs a OC wants too.

Isn't he like the 3rd or 4th highest ranking official in the Hurricanes athletic department. Now that I didn't know. I just thought he was a big booster for the program.

Luther Campbell of 2 Live Crew tweeted that Randy Shannon is going to Texas as the DC. He did call the Miami HC before they named it so he might have some credibility. Still its funny that he of all people might be breaking the news.

This. It's comparable to Lebron leaving Cleveland. Him going to us may be worse because we're their arch rival. Except Pujols already got them a ring, so it won't sting quite as bad for them. Except white trash overract much much worse. -

This would not be surprising as Mack Brown has been wanting to develop a power running game. But before all of this Harsin from Boise St or Applewhite were the two clear favorites. And the OL coach from Wisconsin in a lateral move who will probably be offered regardless of the OC.

Speculation on Longhorn boards are that Smart and Holgorson are going to Florida now. Which could have been the staff at Texas had Mack retired. Oh and some tweets that Randy Shannon is going to Texas as the DC which would be a really good quick move. Still I wish nothing but the best for Muschamp, and hope he succeeds at Florida. And do you really think any DC is going to make a lateral move and have less control of their defense? I just don't see Smart doing that. Again this was just rumors from about a month ago that Smart was getting sick of Saban and thus the interest Texas would have had in him if Mack Brown retired and Muschamp took over. I don't know and regardless he will be in HC in less than 2 years anyways.

Also heard earlier today that Shannon has already signed a contract at Kentucky, but I don't know that I believe that one either, as nothing has come out about it. I hope Smart goes. Anything that hurts Bama is fine by me... unless you mean another Smart. I heard Shannon also pulled him name from Kentucky after Muschamp took the job. It was always rumored that Mack wanted Shannon over Muschamp from the beginning but then he got the Miami job. Yeah Kirby Smart, since he and Muschamp have the whole Georgia alum thing going.

Rumor is he's taking Applewhite as his OC. Yeah he has either the job at Texas or Florida now. Word was Muschamp was the one who was going to have the big say in the OC at Texas in the transition of him taking over.

Mark Hughes claims he won't sell Dempsey which from makes some sense as they are fighting to stay up in the Premier League right now and he is fighting for his job.

Not even close to worth it. And to be honest, I think Friedman is smart enough to go ahead and maximize value than taking a chance of Garza starting off badly and lowering his value even more, which is more probable than him having an "ace" type start most likely. He's going to get a slight mulligan(meaning their going to get slightly more than normal) by playing in the AL EAST as it is right now anyway, assuming he keeps doing what he's been doing. I'm thinking the Cubs would probably rather sign Webb than trade for Garza to begin with, but if we don't get Webb, my guess is something happens relatively quickly with Garza. I've been a big proponent of Garza and really think he can become a solid 2ish type starter in the NL Central, but I don't want to give up the farm for him either. Their salary problems must be bad.

Portland has been brought up many times as a possible destination for a MLB team, but does it have the population to support a team? All they have are the Blazers in terms of professional sports. Portland Timbers start next season in MLS. I know its just soccer but it is a soccer crazy city that will outdraw the Rays.

It sounds like he still believes that Bo Pelini is a candidate for the Miami job, as well. One year after he took over at Tech, who does he think he is Nick Saban?
