  1. So, now the Cubs can sign Haren and keep Marmol?
  2. So maybe Marmol was instructed to blab to take some of the heat off LA as Haren is damaged goods?
  3. Still have 35 minutes to see what happens.
  4. If Haren has disc issues, that is chronic. He could still be effective, but he could also be finished.
  5. I just recently realized how unbelievably delicious Jessica Lang was in King Kong. The 1970's version. Wow.
  6. I think he goes by The Big I-talian.
  7. Calvary Baptist likes to get high profile guys to be their "coach." Last year it was former Alabama baseball coach Jim Wells, which lasted a few weeks before it ended. Not sure what happened there. They do surround those kids with experienced baseball people. I wonder how involved Walker will be? I do know that he coached his son's team in Shreveport Little League and was the All Star coach, so kudos to him for that.
  8. Well, see you next year! Just kidding. I'm surprised that I was finding myself ecstatic about the Rizzo acquisition, and I'm hoping that he can be a big impact and the next young superstar in the game. I like the direction the new FO is taking, and will watch this year with no expectations. I hope to see Rizzo, Jackson, and maybe a surprise player or two really blossom. Bolster the system, let the young players rise, and plug holes with quality free agents. That after purging the roster of bad apples.
  9. I take it you've never been to Miami Or Chicago. I've been to both. My point is, well, I'm not sure what my point was. But yours was taken.
  10. Does Cespedes REALLY want to be that close to Cuba? I'm sure there are plenty of Cubans in Chicago.
  11. From what I understand, Hamilton says that he has failed (relapsed) and struggles with that. In no way does he ever say that he is "cured" from addiction. I'm going to read it.
  12. Jeez, Theo - did Josh Hamilton pork your girlfriend? Seriously, big deal - he slipped. He will be fighting addiction for the rest of his life and this is really a minor issue. Kudos to Hamilton for reaching out and trying to keep other people from making the same mistakes he made. Look, I think as a Christian - my faith is a private relationship. I have a responsibility to act as Christlike as possible, but I don't believe in brow-beating and jamming things down people's throat. I don't really condone people who have "fallen short" parading that fact - it doesn't have to be done in a church atmosphere to be effective. I also know that it isn't my place to judge Josh Hamilton, or anyone else. If they guy feels convicted to tell Church going people that he was a drug addict and something awesome happened in his life, so be it. He isn't perfect and is likely going to slip again. This does not make him anything but human. Remember that.
  13. Juan Pierre signed with Philly. Is that considered breaking news, or wgaf news?
  14. FYI - that's probably 500-550 pounds of first basemen for Detroit. Wow.
  15. Well, he said that he is "comfortable in Chicago" meaning that he obviously doesn't mind being here - despite the strength of the team or where they rank in the standings.
  16. Campana may hit like s$*#, but he runs like Mays.
  17. This is all just buildup to the Cubs Convention, when they will announce the signing. What else to they have to get the fans fired up about?
  18. I hope it is mandatory for Cespedes to pass a PED test. That should be interesting.
  19. At this point, why not just stick Zambrano on 1st base?
  20. Matt Garza -vs- Prince Fielder - 9AB, 3H, 3 2B, 4RBI, 1BB, 2K (vs - Cubs - 225 AB, 65H, 21 2B, 12 HR, 38 RBI, 50BB, 54K, .289/.427/.551 & .978 OPS) Albert Pujols - 9AB, 2H, 1 2B, 1RBI, 2BB (vs - Cubs - 311AB, 94H, 22 2B, 26 HR, 61 RBI, 53BB, 34K, .302/.406/.624 & 1.030 OPS) I don't think that the loss of Pujols and Fielder from the NLC is going to affect Garza as much as it is going to help the Cubs lose two big thorns in their side.
  21. Load up the system with Soler and Cespedes countrymen.
