  1. It seems like every team Rolen leaves (Phillies, Cardinals), he leaves with bad blood. His leaving St.Louis is far past due.
  2. So you're saying you just made up that little bit to try to get this thread to 120 pg's? (i'm not saying that like i'm mad or anything, i'm just confused) Sincerely, I have a mutual friend with a Cubs player - and my friend told me that this player said a blockbuster is about to go down. Take that for what it is worth - and who knows if players really have that kind of insight. It could very well not pan out. I think we all know that negotiations are going on as we speak - I just like to think more than just Roberts are being discussed. Didn't even get details on what team, just assuming Baltimore. We'll see what happens, I guess.
  3. Vance - Todd Walker is in no way related to this rumor, BTW (trying to push 120 pages).
  4. Have you been talking to Ryan or Mike? Cause the Bayou Basher isn't a Cub any longer. Huh? Who isn't a Cub?
  5. BBI is trading down 15% today. But that particular Blockbuster has been going down almost every day for 6 years now. Excellent point - but I couldn't not add to this incredible thread.
  6. I know your joking but it's not helping my sanity. I'm really being totally serious. But it's still rumor, which is kind of a joke.
  7. Take this for what it's worth, folks - but I have word from a Cub player that a blockbuster is about to go down, or is in the works. I'm guessing it has a lot to do with this thread.
  8. No Hector Villenueva? Domingo Ramos?
  9. Murton would probably be a very good #2 hitter.
  10. How about moving Soriano to 2B and Murton to LF?
  11. I just don't see him fitting. He was great for a stretch, but then just seemed he couldn't do anything. I can think of three guys on the roster who ought to play before him at 2B - his only position.
  12. "Take one down." Classic.
  13. I saw a sweet "Welcome to the Fukudome" t-shirt on Ebay.
  14. A few points on Corey Coles from Baseball America's Prospect Handbook: *Coles strength is a disciplined approach at the plate and his ability to make contact to all fields. *Works the count and is tough to strike out, but has well below average power. *Makes quality reads and jumps in the OF and can play all three positions. *Average speed and range, and can steal an occasional base. *Doesn't walk or run well enough to profile as a leadoff hitter or an everyday player, but has a skill set that could make him a valuable reserve player. *Even though he pitched collegiately, he has a below average arm. *One scout compared him to Orlando Palmeiro. Remember folks, he is a lefty and old for a guy who hasn't broken into the big leagues (born in 1982).
  15. The Mac statues are at most $15. I think I have gotten the majority of the ones I have for under $10, if I am not mistaken. My favorite is the Ted Williams, Babe Ruth, and Joe D.
  16. If the Cubs can acquire Brian Roberts, I wouldn't care if DeRosa was included in the deal. Trade DeRosa for a better SS, or even play him at SS.
  17. One of my best friends, a Texas Rangers farmhand with a 99 mph fastball, died at the age of 19 because he made the incredibly stupid decision to drive drunk. We've all been there where we have the delimma of getting a cab, catching a ride with someone, or just driving and taking our chances. Every time (and it is not often) I am in that situation, I just think of Kevin. He WAS a great guy, and he had a bright future in baseball. ONE bad decision, and he is gone. Forever.
  18. That's exactly what I was thinking: *Very good defensive projection (Pie with the better throwing). *Very good speed. *Seems like he needs to refine his base-stealing. *Left handed, long swing (unfortunate as a quicker, shorter swing would utilize his speed as he would hit more ground balls/line drives). *Lots of hype.
  19. You guys know why Mark Prior is no longer a Cub? It's because he doesn't want to be.
  20. Put me down as another interested and in favor of Kenny Lofton becoming a Cub again. Pie has great potential defensively, but somewhere I saw his minor league splits against LHP - and they are not encouraging. Maybe someone can elaborate on that? I think Lofton could be a good backup for Pie and occasional platoon mate - if that is something KLo might be interested in.
  21. Way, way to much sense in that statement. I am TOTALLY with you there. There are lots of schmucks in the HOF, and to me - Rose has more than paid his petty dues. Also, you have to ask yourself - if Sammy Sosa is a HOF player, why can't he get a job with the numbers he had last year. Why couldn't Jose Canseco play for free? This game is corrupt. Plain and simple.
  22. I think it is all crap. The writers are going to let whoever they want in there. Pete Rose isn't in the HOF, why should Bonds be? Or McGwire? If Kirby Puckett is in the HOF, why not Albert Belle? See where I am going with this. Jose Canseco was one of the best sluggers in the game for a time. He was blackballed from baseball because of steroids. He was one season away from 500 HR, and even offered to play for free. MLB is a funny business, as is the HOF. I think it has lost it's luster. The HOF and MLB need a makeover.
  23. Bruce - nice article. You're my caucasian.
