  1. I love wrasslin fan baseball players. What Dempster/Millar just did was sell tickets. All of a sudden, a not-so-exciting series has a little meaning. I love it when people say Dempster sucks. 3 blown saves? Loosens the clubhouse? I'd keep him.
  2. I respect the road Andy Pettite, Giambi, and the guys who "came clean" take as compared to the road that McGwire, Palmiero, Bonds, and Clemens are taking. I blame the players....partially. The owners and "commissioner" also get half the blame. They are playing stupid too.
  3. I think that is exactly what he is doing. Fuld is going to be a good guy off the bench - but there is no way that he can compete with the tools Pie has. I also like how the job is not being given to Pie.
  4. I have a few of those M&N "knockoffs" - I'm assuming they are fakes because of the price I got them for on Ebay. I got two pinstripe and two blue Sandberg 84 jerseys. Going to sell a couple when the season rolls around. I am a big fan of the white pants, blue jersey road unis.
  5. I'm with bhogg on those 89 style blue road jerseys. I am not a fan of grey jerseys, but I did like the 1990 version of greys with the skinny "CHICAGO" across the chest. I loved the 89 unis, though. Oh, and get rid of the ridiculous "Walking Bear" logo and bring back the 80's Cubbie logo. http://www.imagehostplus.com/v2/is.php?i=767964&img=cubs21xxx.jpg
  6. I understand the notion that a trial was done, but I have a hard time believing that sliding feet first will get you to first base quicker than running it out. One of those things I would have to see to believe. At any rate, baseball has been going on for a long time, and if sliding into first base were a practical way to get there faster, I am sure that someone would have figured it out by now. I am not even a fan of sliding into first. I think it is stupid and the player that does it is asking for injury.
  7. Watch the video and notice the sound of the ball off Aramis' bat. THAT is the most beautiful sound you can hear.
  8. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2414/2269218863_c33bcfc129.jpg?v=1203203295 http://d.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20080219/capt.45a12ab710374ee4a1cdb50b85779730.cubs_spring_baseball_azmg105.jpg?x=400&y=330&sig=_uHDrYlze58A.7X2utdW_Q-- Since when has Guzman been a righty, and is that Hendry's "ace" shirt again?
  9. Exactly.
  10. I think there is more than a handful of people here that would be happy if Piniella would move DeRosa to SS and Theriot to 2B.
  11. Mojo - that is the greatest avatar ever. I was thinking about doing that as soon as I saw the Pie ST picture. I still may....
  12. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080217-chicago-cubs-derrek-lee,1,7351686.story?ctrack=6&cset=true Nice to see Patterson really does take it seriously. I think he could be a big help in 2008.
  13. Yeah, my dad is from the Galilee, and my mom is Scotch/Dutch from the South Side of Chicago. I look pretty white too. With a big beak.
  14. I think it is hilarious how they are arguing (in the comments) on whether or not Felix Pie is a black man or not. With all due respect to the black man, Pie is blacker than Wesley Snipes. (relax, it is a Chapel thing and I'm not racist).
  15. I'd personally love to have the Texas Rangers in the NL Central.
  16. Wish him luck and can't wait to see him earn one of the starting slots.
  17. I'm sure Roberts would cost us - but at what expense. Personally, would love to see Roberts at the top of the Cubs order - but not at the expense of losing Felix Pie, Gallagher, Marmol, or Colvin. A package that would have included Bedard/Roberts, I might change my mind since the Cubs would be a better team. Just don't think the Cubs have many options at CF to cover the loss of Pie's sure defense/probable offense. Especially when talking about improving at a position in which the Cubs already have at least two solid options at. Has that been said before? (sarcasm).
  18. Jay Payton? Why? Only if he is in a blockbuster for Bedard and Roberts - and if we lose Pie, Patterson, & Murton.
  19. I can remember falling in love with the Cubs back in the summer of 89. I tried to switch my allegiance to San Diego a couple of years later (Sheffield, McGriff, etc.), but it didn't take. Bought a Pads hat and everything. There is no shaking it. In general, I hate MLB. I love the Cubs. I can't wait to take my son to his first game at Wrigley, and hopefully some trips to Spring Training. I'm going to need someone to commiserate with down the road.
  20. I'm hoping that if Murton isn't traded to net the Cubs something to plug a hole, the backup to Pie not working out is sliding Soriano to CF and Murton to LF.
  21. What exactly does it mean?
