  1. Amen to that. Happy for you, Mr. G. I'm sure a few of us take special interest in Sean just because you post here (not to mention the ability to throw one pitch 97mph, then the next 83). He looks like he has great stuff, and a bright future. Thanks for sharing. Really cool to see the tight bond between a Big League pitcher and his dad. I'm curious - what is your baseball playing history? Did you play college, pro, etc? When did you realize that Sean "had the gift?"
  2. I am very impressed with Gallagher so far. Todays game ball goes to Sean, who is giving it to his dad. Where you at, dad?
  3. I think it was more like "GILLLLI-gaaaaaan." With the head tilt, lean back, and really stick those teeth out there...
  4. Some of you guys are just a bit too literal when someone mentions a comparison. Not really comparing Edmonds to Lofton, just the situations.
  5. This Edmonds/Pie debate makes me think back to the 2004 season. I was a fan of resigning Kenny Lofton, despite Corey Patterson emerging. I think Lofton brought more to the team at the top of the order than Patterson ever could have. Time has proven that it would have been better for the Cubs to go with Lofton in CF in 04, or at least a Lofton/Patterson combo (not necessarily a platoon). I think the Cubs have a chance at winning this year. I am not so sure why Pie hasn't hit at this level, but I don't think it is because he has been sitting and I do think he eventually will hit. I have no idea why Pie is the expendible part that has to be sent down. Personally, I think Pie brings more to the team than Darryl Ward does.
  6. Some of you need to go watch "Coming to America." It really is a great movie.
  7. LF Soriano SS Theriot 1B Lee 3B Ramirez RF Fukudome CA Soto CF Edmonds 2B DeRosa That really is a potentially stacked lineup. Probably what we'll see tomorrow. DeRosa effectively becomes the BEST 8 hitter in the game.
  8. Electron, I want you and this young lady to tie that sacred knot - and hold on to God's unchanging hand. Cause He helped Joshua fight the battle of Jericho, He helped Daniel get out the lion's den, he helped Gilligan get off the island.
  9. I don't saturate him with drills, but work with him maybe once a week. He is still distracted a little. My daughter (almost 5) can absolutely rip - and she does it from the left side naturally. I give him soft toss, but I think he's just not real ready to hit a moving ball. The tee is working pretty good for now - and I'm making him swing lefty because if Ted Williams can do it.... nevermind.
  10. That's not the point he's getting at at all, really. It's just the fact that Soriano has been terribly unlucky when it comes to balls in play actually dropping in for hits - thus causing the pathetic numbers early. Isn't his point basically that Soriano's numbers don't really indicate how well he is hitting the ball, and that it will level out?
  11. The way I see it - the statistics are relative. Yes, Soriano's numbers are down - and I think I see the point you are making. He started "slow" last year also. As well as the Cubs offense was clicking, it was hard to accept the change of having Soriano back in the lineup at the top for some of us. It looks to me that he has found his stroke. He's hitting bullets and getting big hits. We know what kind of numbers he is going to put up, and he is on that clip right now. Things are looking good, methinks....
  12. He's literally got three legs. It's just jokes, Mojo.
  13. Yeah, he is a mutant. He was born with three legs if you know what I mean, and I think you do. Kidding (not really). Thanks OMC, I have him swinging lefty off a tee now, and he's three. He'll be swinging like bosshogg's kid before long.
  14. I am absolutely giddy about the offense in 2008. This is a TOTAL 180 from the offense in 2006. Look at how many guys we have with 20 walks, OB% at or around .400, and most impressively - a team OPS OVER .800.
  15. There are two pretty good reasons why I'm not punking out on her for Mother's Day..... http://a529.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/107/l_4b4239600ed117bb5d084b64ef34a998.jpg and http://a104.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/94/l_16e1e53a8ba321776e2e741dc0708ce7.jpg
  16. I'd be willing to bet that he smuggled in some whiskey and put it in a coke or something. He's kinda poor being in PT school.
  17. I was there. Maybe I should stay as far away from Wrigley as possible.... They are 4-0 with my kids up there...
  18. ...and not going to Chicago with my buddies because it was Mother's day weekend? I get to miss out on dinner and beers with Mike Fontenot, Darryl Ward and Ted Lilly - and to add insult to injury, I would have been sitting with these schmucks when they caught Soriano's HR tonight in the 5th inning. http://a606.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/60/l_ae656454346130cf77467e7e6fc45725.jpg That's my buddy in the light blue on the left, the friend who caught the ball is down on the wall, and Mike Fontenot's little brother is on the right in the light blue. http://a35.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/5/l_3957422732c767bf91e2a590a47115e2.jpg Jackarses. Sometimes I don't know if it is better to be a good husband or a good Cub fan....
  19. Gone are the days of the $200 direct flight from Shreveport Regional to O'hare. Dammit.
  20. You might want to post up on Waveland Avenue, in that case.
  21. Jeez, I didn't know SG could bring it at 97. When I saw that on the gun and then a pitch that was 83 to follow it up. Looked good to me.
  22. That sounds like a pretty bad trade for the Cubs - plus Greene isn't leaving the West Coast, right?
  23. I notice that his slider, or maybe a cut fastball, is now tailing IN to the RH hitters. Nassy.
  24. Dude was a ballplayer. Pretty, but a ballplayer.
