  1. Wood said he felt better in his second apperance than his first one. Hopefully everything goes well for him.
  2. Im hearing that most of Northern Illinois is supposed to get 2-6 inches of rain between now and tomarrow morning.
  3. I think the Cubs could use a long man in that pen. Someone like Zach Grienke would fit that role.
  4. Blanco's almost ready to bring his big bat back to the Cubs lineup. I'm sure Lou will make good choices and ride the hot hand. If Blanco comes back and hits like he's able to hit, Kendall will sit more often. If Kendall regains his form from 7 years ago, Hank will ride the pine. Blanco is probably better off getting the surgery and coming back next year.
  5. I was very impressed with Lincecum. Reminds me alot of Roy Oswalt. Located his fastball very well and he changed speeds very well also. Although he walked Jones in the 7th, his sequence of pitches in that AB after falling behind really impressed me. After falling behind in the count 2-0 to Jones, he came with his change with the next two pitches. He has a very bright future.
  6. I could see Hendry going after Kevin Millar.
  7. depends on your assessment of Marmol. I've thought for at least a year now that Marmol's repertoire was better suited for the bullpen, so I'd have put him there coming into this year. The alternates for the rotation would've been (for me) Guzman and Gallagher. couldn't have said it better myself. marmol's performance this season has made a strong statement that his career will be in the bullpen, and it looks as if it will be a pretty successful one at that. marmol's performance has made a strong statement that a young guy will need some time to adjust to the majors. he's not a one-pitch guy or someone who doesn't have any stamina...he could be an effective starter. his changeup is pretty lousy, and his control can be spotty - which would lead to high pitch counts. He doesn't have a big frame or thick lower half, so I could see him tiring fairly easily. If he learns an effective change, I'd give him another shot in the rotation, but at this point it ain't broke, so don't try to fix it. Jack McDowell says hi.
  8. Wood is scheduled to throw an inning of work tomarrow.
  9. Espn1000 reported that Pie will be sent down. It really does not makes sense to carry 3 catchers.
  10. Old news. And for some reason I completely didn't see the post that said that. My bad. Wake up.
  11. It is a really bad injury. Special for a pitcher who needs that area to develop his power.
  12. That will be one helluva standing O when he makes his first Wrigley appearance. Can't wait ... just the kind of boost this team will need down the stretch. Yep. Im really looking forward to it.
  13. Matt Morris might be available.
  14. I'll take him. Bat him between Soriano and Lee.
  15. Barrett has done nothing for the Padres since that trade. He has bascially done nothing all year.
  16. You could say that this is a learning experience for Reyes and that he will come back next year a different pitcher.
