Now that would be a good idea. -
Jacque can be traded to a team who misses out on a corner OF on the FA market later in the offseason. As I stated in the other thread, compared to other RFs, he was surpisingly very productive and is signed to a very cheap short term contract. He has some value. Trade him to Oakland.

I would like to see Drew in RF. Drew playing CF would be a big injury risk.

Interesting note from Peter Gammons. He said Barry Zito hasn't missed a start since high school. Schmidt's up and down velocity should scare you. Huge hint at a possible shoulder injury. Plus, he has been over worked by Alou the past couple of years.

Zito. Batter's have a .232 career average off of him, 1.25 career WHIP, and a career .618 winning %. Not ot mention he is still pretty young and he throws the ball from the left side.

?? Do you think Hendry doesn't have time for both? Figure Miller at the least got between 1-2 million, while this isn't alot, what is the gap right now in regards to re-signing Aram? 4-5 million? He needs to hold off on these recovery projects and take care of buisness ASAP. Get Aram signed now. I don't think signing Miller would delay Hendry's chances of signing Ramirez. -

Agreed. Basically, you would be paying 10 Million for a platoon player. That doesn't make much sense to me. 10 Million for a platoon player? I think the money can be spent on a SP. Murton doesn't need a platoon partner. He is going to have a great year in 07.

And then this to sum it up. I think this is a legit concern. The 500 innings more than Wood, doesn't say too much given his workload the past 3 seasons, but the amount of abuse Wood took before even being drafted might be similar. No FA pitcher is a lock, and Matsuzaka is a bigger investment than any other pitcher if you include the posting fee. Winning him will be great, but losing him will not be the end of the world unless the Cards somehow got him :-) I dont know much about Matsuzaka, but if he has mechanics like Wood, then I think it would be a huge concern.

I dont know if I would agree with that. I would take the proven major league player over a guy who hasn't even thrown a single pitch in the majors. So why isn't Zito in your sig? Zito is in my heart. LOL...I am a big fan of Zito. I have had many Zito avatar's and sigs in the past.

That's what I thought when I first read about him, maybe he's been overused. Definitely a concern, in my opinion. No matter what, the Cubs are due for a break, so if they get this guy, he better stay healthy. Don't count on it.
