  1. You can't counteract the fire Dusty calls by saying Hendry should be blamed as well. Most people who want Dusty gone also want Hendry gone. But since Hendry just got a contract extension it's kind of pointless to hope for his immediate dismissal. That extension was mistake #1, you don't fix that mistake by keeping Baker out of some sense of fairness. That's just 2 mistakes, and you don't need me to tell you what 2 mistakes does not equal.
  2. He had his chance. He had it in 2003, when the team melted down. He had it in 2004 when the team melted down. He had it in 2005 when the team stunk. He had it 3 weeks ago when the team stunk. Why not fire him now? He's a bad manager, has been for a while. You fire him now because the team is playing like crap and Dusty is a bad manager. What other reason do you need?
  3. I think the Cubs have a problem with his dedication/motivation. I've felt for a while that they don't believe in him much, and question his toughness. I've never been much of a fan, but I do think he's a better option than many of the others that are trotted out there.
  4. Equivalent players get 1 year contracts for similar or less money. Big difference. Very big difference.
  5. I think alot of discussion about 'worth the contract' on here misses the fact that average free agent outfielders get paid 5-6M per year, and average free agent startes get paid 8-9M per year. while I agree both the Maddux and Jones contracts were too long, neither was really overpriced in today's market. Jones isn't average.
  6. Oh, give me a break. Seriously. You are going to try and compare Jones and Lee and their worth to this team, now or ever? Lee was still a good player who was young. He just wasn't an elite hitter. Jones blows.
  7. With the collection nancy speed demons that Hendry has collected, do you really think they'd do well in a brawl against Jenks/Konerko/Thome/Crede/etc.? Sometimes getting your ass kicked is a good thing. Or wait they are getting there ass kicked right now. nevermind. Eventually, after one of these butt whoopings, they are going to get sick of getting their butts kicked and do something about it....... like turn around and get kicked in the groin.
  8. Cubs notes: DH gives lineup extra hitter That's the dumbest headline I've ever read. It's like saying, pitcher is guy who pitches.
  9. That insinuates we've seen super Neifi before. This contract is probably his last unless Hendry extends him.
  10. The Cubs are keeping them all out of spite.
  11. Blanco is one of the few Cubs with any good history against Buerhle. He and Barrett should both be in the game. He's batting 0.61... I don't care how good he's been against Buerhle... and 3 for 12 is not that good... With some of them being homeruns. Look, there is no good option for DH since they got rid of the one RH threat off the bench.
  12. Right, Neifi never makes any mistakes in the field....... sure.
  13. Maddux was crap in the first and Pods wasn't on base. bases full now.. brenly = right How? Maddux has sucked like this in the past, and he sucked like this in the first. I don't see how Pods makes a difference.
  14. Blanco is one of the few Cubs with any good history against Buerhle. He and Barrett should both be in the game.
  15. Maddux was crap in the first and Pods wasn't on base.
  16. We can put a man on the moon, but........ In one of the worst uses of that stupid phrase, the other White Sox announcer said, ...but we're still dragging our luggage through the airport. These guys are unbelievable.
  17. "They say Hairston's grandfather was one of the best hitters in the negro leagues. I don't know about that, but he had the numbers to prove it." What?
  18. What did he do? Sacrifice himself for our sins? Not really. He was born on another planet and came to earth with limitless baseball ability. But the love of a woman brought him to give up all those powers and live like a mere mortal. Hendry and Dusty know this, and think he's such an honorable man he should be allowed to live the life of a major league player, even if he's not qualified to be one.
  19. Cubs conceded the inning like a golfer in a skins match. By rule Buerhle had to make 8 warmup pitches then go back in.
  20. Back to back to back? Outs? Yes. 8 pitches.
  21. If you are waiting for Cintron to leave the ball in his glove a little longer you are going to be waiting a long time because it doesn't stay in there long. That makes no sense whatsoever. This radio guy gives off the aura of a guy who thinks he's just a total dude.
  22. He'll be 24 in August and batted .258/.304/.387 last year at AA. How fast? Versatility?
  23. Isn't this Sharon Pannozzo's job? Or was Jim just filling in for that woman who left for another job? Jack of all trades, master of none. Yes, in general, I would think this is Sharon's job. However, it may be that this escalated beyond Sharon. Hendry is her boss, too. He's ranked higher, but her boss? I'd think she'd report to MacPhail before Hendry.
