  1. Kind of makes you think about that prospect's accusation about how Hendry treated him. Not to say Jim did ruin his career, but he comes across as a decent guy in most interviews, but it's coming out that he's much more of a jerk we might have thought.
  2. Now that's pathetic. They probably buy that "just being aggressive" junk. It wouldn't be surprising, considering how they've never shown the least bit of awareness that overaggressive play has hurt them.
  3. They have to call up a bat today, preferably Restovich. He's 2/7 against Buerhle, nothing great, but you have to sit Jones and nobody else deserves the spot. They can start Blanco and have Barrett DH, both have hit Buerhle. Walker starts at first and Hairston at 2nd, both have hit him. Put Restovich in RF.
  4. Maybe they yelled at Sullivan for his misguided criticism of the Cubs that focused on all the wrong things, and were telling him to be more like Miles (Bruce, not the bad guy from 24) and get to the heart of the matter. Or maybe they were mad at the Trib for all the "you can't blame it on Baker, nobody could win with this team stuff."
  5. If the reports are true, it's actually a fairly small number of tickets, and really just for the big hype games.
  6. Brantley: Jackson hit it a mile (ball is caught by fan in front row of LF bleachers)
  7. Nope. If a kid did that, he's benched or sent down. If it's a vet, he's just trying too hard.
  8. I'm guessing he didn't call it. He'll defend Neifi by saying he's trying to make something happen, glossing over Cordero's control issues.
  9. Neifi is the greatest human being to ever live.
  10. Let's go Jacquey, hit a drunken bleacher fan for payback.
  11. On the one hand it's nice to hear a Cubs employee talk about Pierre's need to walk more and his lack of patience. On the other hand it's annoying to hear a Cubs employee say "with his OBP I just thought he walked more", when all they'd have to do is look at the stats to know he doesn't. I know he's not a decision maker, but it mirrors a lot of the other things we hear actual decision makers say.
  12. Eckstein came over at 29, hardly at the end of his career. He was a WS hero for the Angels and had a 103 OPS+ once, just a 98 for STL last year. Santo with some of the smartest words I've heard him say talking about Pierre's lack of patience.
  13. Zimmerman FC 6-4, 2 outs, Marlon Byrd up with men on 1st and 3rd.
  14. That could be really useful. It would be funny to give it to kids and see their reaction.
  15. I know people just say things during the game. But the above is not "sad", it's baseball. Sometimes good hitters go hitless and bad hitters do something good. If Neifi repeatedly outhit Walker, that would be sad.
  16. Help on above please. EDIT Nevemind - thanks! Lots of strikes. No walks, may have been squeezed a little and left a couple right over the heart for homeruns. But pretty impressive, even though only 71 pitches in 5 innings.
  17. We'll trade him for Jeff Conine. We kept him all this time, kept him as "untouchable" he'll be in CF next year thank god. I can't wait to see what he does under Baker and Clines fine tutelage. I can wait, unless he's traded to Florida for Cabrera and Baker and Clines go work for Girardi.
  18. Blanco, Bynum and Hairston is all that is left.
  19. Wow, they're taking it to the extreme. When people talk about slow guys who walk and hit homeruns being station to station baseball, they are wrong. This single slapping and sacrifices is what station to station baseball is.
