  1. Martinez is likely to come in between 25-50 and has played 1 year in the states. I'm not going to claim that Martinez is on Miller's level, because he has a much higher chance of busting, but he's very highly regarded by just about everyone. Miller, Martinez and Jenkins are all likely to be in the BA top 50 with Wong and Cox in the top 100. Matt Adams has a shot to be top 100, but shouldn't be because he's fat and doesn't walk. You really think they will have Jenkins in their top 50? He's got a shot. Probably shouldn't have said likely. I know Law has mentioned him in his top 50 (I know it's not BA.) And I completely forgot about Oscar Taveras for some reason. Cards are pretty much a lock to have 6 players in the top 100 and could have a 7th in Adams.
  2. He was on a 1 year deal with a mutual option. He retired, but as far as I know didn't decline the option.
  3. Sounds fishy to me that the framework of a deal would've been done before TLR retired. I don't buy it either, but he's my #1 choice.
  4. Since he retired he's technically still under Cardinals control.

  6. I think he doesn't want Ramirez due to a lack of bunting practice.
  7. BA had Martinez at #18 in MLB in their mid season update. Consensus seems to be that he has better raw stuff and upside than Miller but there are concerns about his frame and he's not as polished. I didn't read that other guy's post, but saying that Martinez is on Miller's level as a prospect isn't really a stretch.
  8. He had to face some pretty good Cubs pitching 01-04 that Fielder didn't.
  9. AFC West teams schedules are brutal this year. I picked the Chiefs to likely go 6-10, and really wouldn't be surprised if that's what they finish at. Although with the Tebow Broncos they might go 7-9. They have... Dolphins (I have bad feelings here) Broncos @Patriots Steelers @Bears @Jets Packers Raiders @Broncos Week 11-15 is gross.
  10. The amount of animosity Braves fans had for that man was palpable. Combine that with the fact that the Braves have superior options coming up through their system to replace him (Teheran, Delgado, Minor, etc), and the fact that they would've ended up moving him to the bullpen, he was an obvious bet to get dealt. No point in having a $15 million long reliever on your staff 1 - Braves fans don't really exist 2 - They definitely could have gotten more in terms of players and money for him.
  11. They're maddening. Really, it's amazing that Norv Turner has his job.
  12. First place Chiefs!
  13. JESUS KICK THE [expletive] FIELD GOAL ALREADY HALEY
  14. Tamba Hali is such a [expletive] beast. Really sucks that the Chiefs are missing Charles, Berry and Moeaki for the year and Baldwin for 6 weeks. And that Cassel is their QB. A lot of great young pieces on the team. I'm beginning to think that while I love Haley's ballsiness, he's just a bad coach.
  15. Wait until you get to see the horrible call on the McCluster fumble.
  16. Never really had much zip. Just really accurate and a super fast release.
  17. Baldwin could be a [expletive] beast! And was also a nice little fantasy pick up for me before this week. I'm also the only person watching this game I think.
  18. Chiefs just got [expletive] hosed on a replay. Unreal.
  19. Which is kind of funny because Tony never, ever, ever uses his backup catcher to pinch hit. To the point where Adam Wainwright pinch hit 3 times in 2010. Yes, 6 WAR, top 3 Cy Young finisher Adam Wainwright. Jason LaRue, the backup catcher, pinch hit twice. The 20 inning game last year he let a pitcher hit with the bases loaded twice while the catcher was on the bench. Oh and the pitcher was batting behind Pujols because he switched Matt Holliday out of the game. [expletive] like that, every game.
  20. Hot damn Arrowhead is [expletive] electric right now!
  21. Teams don't like doing anything in Willis' direction.
  22. It's not one game. It's really just about every game. You know that NLCS and WS MVP David Freese guy that hit the walkoff HR and game tying triple in game 6? If the Cards had even a 1 run lead in the 8th, he's not playing because of defense. Think I'm exaggerating? He started 19 games in September and finished 4. He finished 7 of 18 postseason games. Obviously he's just a butcher defender to be pulled like that right? His UZR and DRS are both better than the guy who was replacing him in the 7th,8th and 9th in 2/3 of games. Goofy bullpen management non stop, anyone can play 2nd base, allowing Corey Patterson to play baseball on his team, etc. The postseason was Tony at his absolute best, and nearly all of his moves were just common sense moves. And even then he had to fail the first time before getting the point. Here's a good link for you... http://www.gatewayredbirds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=35375 The key to his success over the last decade has been having arguably the best 1b to play the game being underpaid and an ownership group willing to spend for elite talent, Rolen, Edmonds, Walker, Holliday, Berkman etc.
  23. Not looking forward to watching the brutal beat down the Chiefs are about to get.
  24. No chance. I find it amazing that for a such a hard worker dedicated to being the best he can be he is yet to make any fundamental change at all. He is exactly the same player he was the day he was drafted.
  25. Where does all that stand in relation to the rest of the league?
