  1. The dumbest part is that now Paul can't be traded at all. I don't see how it can be justified in any way. So the NBA owned Hornets get 66 games of a disgruntled player, and that's it.
  2. This is really messed up.
  3. The Cardinals and Pujols both did what they should have. The Cardinals went as far as they thought they could go without dragging the franchise down and made a very competitive offer. Anaheim straight blew it away. He didn't give them any sort of discount. At the time his contract was the largest ever for a first year arbitration eligible player and one of the biggest contracts in MLB. He outproduced the contract, but he did not sign for a discount. Sure, it will look bad for the next 4-5 years, then it won't look so bad and then it will look smart. That's the way it goes signing a 32 year old to a 10 year contract. Take a look at ARod. I personally think Pujols will come fairly close to the value of the contract, but all it takes is one injury to turn gradual decline into aggressive decline and you have an all time albatross on your hands. That's not how it works. He deserved 116 million dollars, because that is what he signed for. And anyways, he just signed a [expletive] 10 year 250 million dollar contract. He's getting the money you think he deserves. It's basically a win and a loss for everyone involved on some level.
  4. That's assuming he's going to live in Anaheim.
  5. well, now they're complaining about large markets and how the system is broken
  6. Oooh this could get Cards fans to hate Pujols. That'd be outstanding. Could've been a Cardinals legend like STAN THE MAN NOW YOU'RE JUST A HIRED GUN LIKE THE REST OF EM! BERKMAN WILL DO BETTER THAN YOU ANYWAY It's already happening. A post from GRB: meh Meatheads are gonna meathead
  7. yep, all of this. Very true. I'm not mad at him at all. The Angels offered him like 30 million more than the Cardinals would. The end.
  8. They won't. Yep. They'll do something stupid and lock up Molina for 5 years and 60 mil or something and insist that Fat Matt Adams will hit at the MLB level (he won't.)

  10. Offer him the most money while being an already loaded team coming off of a World Series win and NLCS appearance?
  11. the contract structure is hilarious 10 10 16 22 22 22 22 (option) 4 mil buyout Can you guess when he'll be traded?
  12. I don't know. Would you want to stay in St. Louis if you could help it? Even if someone paid you a crapload of money? winning is actually pretty fun
  13. Very unlikely. They'll just put Berkman at 1st and Craig in RF full time and then hope that Matt Adams is for real for 2013.
  14. They had to come up with the schedule 5 months before the preseason even started. And? Everyone knew those teams were probably going to suck. I didn't include the Colts because that was something they couldn't have known. The only team everyone knew was going to suck 2 months after the Superbowl last year on that list were the Jags.
  15. Vikings/Packers, Pats/Chiefs, Chargers/Chiefs, Ravens/Jags, dolphins/Jets, Colts/Bucs, Rams/Giants have all been MNF games this year. ESPN needs to rethink their strategy for picking games. A lot of 2010 playoff teams or contenders on that list. Looking at ESPN's pre-season power rankings, I'm seeing numbers 29,27,25,24,23,22. And that's not counting the Rams. They had to come up with the schedule 5 months before the preseason even started.
  16. I'm confused now. He's been very, very good over his last 67 regular season starts, and good in his 3 WS starts, which is "when it counts." But you wouldn't want to give him a 5th and 6th year because of 6 ALDS/ALCS starts spread out over 2 seasons? Sounds logical.

  18. Career 54.00 ERA against the Brewers. Nothing but red flags with this guy.
  19. So, something in that 10 game sample size makes you think he won't be any good in years 5-6, but fine through 4? It's a lot less risk is all I'm saying. The guy hasn't proven to be a gamer when in postseason competition; that's a big issue with me. It's great if he can get you there, it's not so great if your number one starter can't perform when it counts. He has a 2.95 ERA in the World Series. Looks like he has no trouble performing when it counts.
  20. He couldn't have held it that long. He retired after 1972 with 586 and Brock ended the 1973 season with 635.
