  1. Not really. They were going to foul him if he drove.
  2. Complete game, 8 K's, 1 ER and his ERA went UP
  3. Just last year the Rays and Dodgers had losing steaks of 7 or more. Step back from the ledge.
  4. Because that was what he said. I'm pretty sure he was simply commenting on the fact that Rasmus hadn't done much against lefties since he got to the bigs. And the fact remains that the 2 pitches he's hit hard this series were both hanging curveballs, which ML hitters should hit hard. He used the Baseball America ranking as a crutch for one guy. I showed it meant crap for another. Rasmus has a MiLB OPS of .826 against lefties FWIW.
  5. Former 1st round pick with power, speed and good D, but terrible pitch recognition.
  6. He did throw a sim game the other day and I've heard he'll be on a 75-80 max pitch count. I don't know how accurate the PC number is, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me to bring him back to pitch 4-5 innings with an already over worked bullpen. Over worked bullpen? Are you crazy? He really needed to use every pitcher in the pen except mop up guy Thompson in last nights 8-4 loss. Huh? All I was saying is that the Cards starters have had some short outings of late and the relievers have seemed to been picking up a lot of innings in the last week. Unless I'm terribly confused by your post. I think your terribly confused by his post. Hes being sarcastic about Larussa bullpen management. this
  7. STL Lineup 1. Brendan Ryan, SS 2. Colby Rasmus, CF 3. Albert Pujols, 1B 4. Yadier Molina, C 5. Chris Duncan, LF 6. Nick Stavinoha, RF 7. Brian Barden, 3B 8. Joel Pineiro, P 9. Joe Thurston, 2B This is going to be a long game.

  9. I read the first paragraph and stopped. If Juan Pierre was working every hour of every day for the year he would be making 1,110 an hour.
  10. I don't think you want Pujols take make any more throws than he has to with the shape his elbow is in.
  11. The Cards are a mess right now. Yep. Sucks that Ludwick had to go and get hurt when Pujols was slumping. And don't get me started with the roster. It's just constructed piss poor right now. 6 middle infielders. SIX! And TLR is still playing the worst defensive 2b in baseball at 2nd instead of the outfield where he is a plus defensively. And that outfield spot is being taken by a guy that has a minor league OPS below .750. Oh yeah, our starting pitcher filling in for Carpenter had the lowest starter ERA on the team and was yet to lose was sent down to make room for Brendan Ryan. Why didn't you move Skip back to the outfield and call up Wallace to play third, sliding Thurston to 2B? I know there are concerns about Wallace's glove. His bat is obviously going to translate. He was just called up to AAA today. I really have no idea why Skip isn't in the OF right now. Moving him to the OF, having Thurston and T. Greene or Ryan platoon at 2nd and playing Barden at 3rd makes too much sense I guess. Barden may only be a .750-.775 hitter, but he is gold glove caliber at 3rd. Super frustrating watching Tony trot out a shitty lineup everyday and what might be the worst infield defense in the league as well. K. Greene and Schumaker are the worst in the majors according to UZR/150, and it's not even close. They're like -60-70 put together.

  13. CG 8IP 4 H 5K 0BB 1ER and that's a loss, oh, and it raises his ERA. I have a feeling we're watching something special this year. Pedro 2000 special.

  15. oh come on. ibanez ws a 37 year old .830 OPS corner outfielder with terrible defense. don't act like it was some stupid decision to pass on him because he's been awesome for the first month. and lol at the abreu comment. he has 5 xbh's total so far, and none of them are homers. he's hitting a flukey .343 and still only has a .799 OPS. when that average drops back to normal levels, his overall numbers are going to look really really bad, especially for a guy with really bad defense. mmm...you must have not read my responses on this signing of bradley before it WAS a stupid decision, and i guarantee you that he will have better numbers than milton at the end of 2009... so you knew before the season that he was suddenly going to go from mediocre to awesome? It wouldn't take much foresight to think that Ibanez would be healthy and produce well, especially in a hitters park with a good lineup. Bradley was an upside signing, everyone knew it. I like Bradley much more, but the health factor is still there and meaningful. I have no doubt that if Bradley remains healthy he will outproduce Ibanez, however, that's a big if.

OPS at AA in 2008 - .891 OPS at AAA this year - .883 On the Ryan Ludwick scale that should equal to at least a .950 MLB OPS. Don't worry about him. At his best he is Theriot.
