  1. Would someone please tell Wells to stop walking everybody?
  2. Agreed - perhaps be broke ARam's thumb
  3. No, like I said. If you read the quotes from Hendry, Randy Bush, Lou and others it sounds like the org wants him gone. Not too far of a stretch considering the treatment that Zambrano has been given this year (bullpen - twice). My guess is just that - a guess but I'm basing it on how I interpret those quotes. For the record, this team is going absolutely nowhere this year and a LOT of changes are needed to become competitive. If Zambrano can be moved in the right package I'm 100% in favor of it. Same goes for Lilly, Soriano, Fukudome, Dempster, Theriot etc. No, I don't like Z and I would love to see him fail elsewhere but it has to be in the right deal.
  4. i'm 90% sure he'll still be a cub. I'm betting he's a goner by the end of the season. How? He has a NTC. And he earns a million bazillion dollars. He's not going anywhere. Pure speculation on my part and I may be reading between the lines but it sounds like the whole organization is tired of his act. I am fully aware of the money involved and I'm also aware that he has a no trade clause. I am saying that despite that, I can see the club eating some salary, I can also see Zambrano waiving his NTC to play for his friend Ozzie. There are several scenarios that I hope to see happen.

  6. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-spt-0627-bits-cubs-city-series-chi20100626,0,3803108.story After I read that Zambrano had dinner with Ozzie after the blowup game, I have to admit that irritated me a little. According to the story above there are member of the Cubs front office and coaching staff that didn't like it either. He's gone
  7. Pierre did the exact same thing to Castro during the last series. Unbelievable.
  8. So do I. Other than Konerko the whole organization is classless trash. Same as their fans.
  9. 7 pitch inning - ugh Did Danks just say sh-- on the air?
  10. I hate this team, yet here I am.....watching another ballgame just hoping there isn't a fight in the dugout to embarrass the organization further.
  11. I couldn't disagree more. The fact that they have been teammates for so long has nothing to do with it. Zambrano has shown up teammates on the field before, he did it again yesterday. He's sucker punched his catcher and gone ballistic in the dugout before. Someone needed to stand up and tell him to shut the [expletive] up. Others were probably afraid to do it. IMO sending Z to the pen at the start of the year was a shot across the bow but the message is clear to me - if you're going to act like a ass you're responsible for the consequences.
  12. I'll admit I'm worried about Ricketts' as well already, especially after hearing some of AZPhil's comments about future plans(although we don't know how plugged in, Phil truly is) As far as the draft goes though(and I wasn't all that happy to begin with) I'm at least thinking that out of Crum, Harper, Harman, Geiger, Cox, Pinckard, Wells, and Szczur, one or two of those guys will be a surprise sign that's for alot more than what we were thinking.......Not to mention, Golden hasn't signed yet either, so he could conceivably cost us alot more than what we were thinking as well. I'm still hopeful we spend 5 mill or a tad more, which would at least make me feel a little better about Ricketts...... I'm not really worried about the Ricketts in general. But I do think our budget for the draft is fairly low. I think the only way we sniff $5M is if we overpay a bunch of guys. I just don't see any of those guys being worth the $500K it would take to push us towards that total from where we're currently at, unless my math is off (which it could be). I'm a day late here but I agree. Sure, they can spend a lot of money but they'd be on guys who are probably not on anyone's radar to earn that type of bonus (e.g. Huseby and Watkins)... Ricketts talked a big game though about spending in the draft and building the team from within. If that were me, I would make absolutely certain that my words were followed up. It is easy for me to say that though not having to write the checks. I don't hold Ricketts responsible for the team on the field, but the draft was his first real opportunity to prove his words and I didn't see it.
  13. Honestly, part of me wants to see the team tank so some big salaries can be moved at the deadline (assuming that Hendry can bring in some good prospects - a HUGE if). I just can't see this team going on any kind of run. I bleed cubbie blue and I would love to be wrong.
  14. My two cents: I have absolutely no problem with DLee's reaction and if I had to guess I would say that he is sick of Zambrano's act. If Zambrano were pitching as well as he has in the past, I think the team overlooks this tantrum. This year is clearly different. I think the team has coddled him a lot more than anyone knows. When Zambrano pinch hit a couple weeks ago and was swinging for the fences when he just needed a single - I think that was a manager giving in to the guy and letting him do something that makes him happy. What bothers me most was his comment "If you won't play hard for me, I won't play hard for you." That tells me that maybe he grooved the inside fastball to Rios, and the even more hittable pitch to Quentin to make a point to his teammates. If that is the case....man.....that is beyond words bad. Wasn't one of Bradley's blowups last year at the cell? Throw in this incident and Barrett punching Pierzyhfdlkankdfi! and sox fans have to be loving how this team consistently falls apart in their house. It is embarrassing, it really is.
  15. At this point I really don't care what the Cubs get for Z. I am waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond tired of his act. Seconded
  16. Pierre started off the game with a double past Lee that he could've gotten a glove on, but didn't. White Sox then swarmed Z for four runs in the inning, and Z yelled at Lee in the dugout. When you say he could have gotten a glove on it.......did he give an effort or was a tough play he didn't try to make?
  17. Not watching What was Z mad at? Was there an error in the first?
  18. Unbelievable Z is at the core of most of the dugout tirades The guy is a [expletive] clown Period
  19. Going on a golf trip with some friends next week. Two of the guys are wsox homers. The sox are playing the best they have all year and always seem to be up for this series. Cubs can't hit and play like they could care less.. Much of the pen was used last night. I have a bad feeling about this series and a worse feeling about this golf trip.
  20. Kazmir is sitting at 93 pitches. Anyone know offhand if the Angels pen is any good?
  21. Naturally he gives up a homer to Hunter. Kazmir getting out of the jam has killed any momentum the Cubs had.
