  1. I wonder what CSN's ratings are like for each. I'd bet the Bulls are still far, far ahead.
  2. I do it was a little kid He was 14, not a little kid. I'm sorry but when you are old enough to be getting HJs under the blanket in your basement while watching Not Another Teen Movie on DVD from a girl with braces, you are no longer a little kid. 9.8 Well done.
  3. LOL at Gretz, Turris and the rest of those bums. As much as I love the violence, I'd really prefer if we don't get anyone suspended over the next two periods. I wouldn't mind seeing a few scraps, and I think Hanzl just bought himself a beating, but other than, let's just play it and out take the two points.
  4. I do it was a little kid Ohhh, look at Mr. High Road here. :)
  5. It really does seem like the Twins' success over the last 20 years, which I think we would all kill for (obviously), happened in spite of this guy, not because of him. If he had any hand in hiring the brilliant personnel guys, then kudos to him. But they're the ones who deserve the credit. I still can't believe they are building an outdoor park up there. Retractable roof would've made a lot of sense, but it sounds like Pohlad wouldn't pay for it. And now it's too late.
  6. [puts on tin-foil hat] The powers that be in MLB and the govt. made sure that Cuban wouldn't own a baseball team.[takes off tin-foil hat] But seriously, the timing of the decision to move forward with his insider trading allegation is really suspicious. I don't think you're in "tin foil hat" territory with that one. That seems to be exactly what happened, and I don't think they would be apologetic about it.
  7. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/chi-tue-problem-06-jan06,0,2612506.column Okay, and maybe I'm just a bad person here, but I don't feel bad for this kid. Not one bit.
  8. I wouldn't underestimate the Coyotes being a bit fired up for this one. I still think the Hawks win, but I expect it to be a tight game. But if the Hawks get up more than two goals, look out. It'll be fight night.
  9. It's just worked out to strangely for Tallon. Khabi has been better than expected. Huet worse. The entire team better. He was supposed to have traded Khabi by now. I still think that would be palatable to the fans in general, if not to me, if he was traded at the deadline as part of a package for a name scorer. Thing is, rebuilding-type teams who might be willing to trade an established scoring vet have no use for a guy like Khabi at this point in his career and given his salary and contract situation.
  10. Throwing your colleague under the bus (apparently dishonestly) is probably not the best way to foster a good relationship that might lead to a deal later on. Unless that's what the Pads' owner told Towers to do because he never wanted a deal to get done. But that doesn't really make sense. Isn't that team being sold? Seems like they'd want to unload Peavy now.
  11. 18th in GAA, 22nd in save %. I wouldn't call that good, let alone pretty good. What was that before New Years? He had a bad start, but I thought he was playing well until the Winter Classic. I felt like for a least a small stretch he played really really well, but that might have only been a handful of games I don't know how to look up what his stats were before or after a particular game, but on November 19th I posted that Huet's GAA was 2.95 and his save % was .900. Not it's 2.55 and .910. So he's improved. I think he takes bad angles, flops, is slow from post to post and isn't good playing the puck. Obviously I don't think we've seen him at his best yet. I really do look forward to that. But for now Khabi should be starting every night.
  12. 18th in GAA, 22nd in save %. I wouldn't call that good, let alone pretty good.
  13. They are only hamstrung for this year, not going forward. It's really not a big deal, especially when they are getting high quality performance at that position. Right, but the problem is they are getting high-level performance from the guy whose contract is expiring. I'm not ready to write off Huet, and perhaps he'll get hot. But I just have no confidence in the guy.
  14. The other thing is, with all these young guys, eventually (and not too long from now) they are going to have to let guys go because they won't be able to resign everybody. I would actually be fine with them trading some of the young talent. They can still keep the core. But you're probably going to see Havlat walk, and big extensions for both Toews and Kane soon. Then there's a question about Sharp and some of the defenseman, and they already have a big contract for Campbell. The new agreement makes it harder to keep young guys around at really cheap rates like in baseball. On the other hand, I didn't even know Billy Guerin was still in the league. I feel like guys that were veterans when I played NHL96 in college should be retired. Who you think Buff again? Probably. But JCF is right. The decision on who to offer in any trade will have as much to do with the salary cap as anything else. They need to clear a few of these mid-level guys. And again, not to beat a dead horse, but they are seriously hamstrung by all the money they have tied up in goaltenders. If Tallon hadn't signed Huet, we wouldn't be having this discussion right now.
  15. Whispers are that Tallon is looking at Bill Guerin. http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/chi090104.html I watched him play a lot here in St. Louis a few years ago. He was really solid. 16 goals, 19 assists this year for a bad NYI team. Thing is, I think we'd be giving up at least one, young current roster player to get him. I think I would judge this trade completely on what we're giving up. I think Guerin would be a great addition though.
  16. If that happens, this could turn into a trainwreck in a hurry...
  17. I just bothered to look at his career batting numbers. Nothing special. I'm not sure how he turned into one of the key OF available this offseason, but whatever. It is an improvement, I just don't think he's gonna be an impact guy. I hope I'm wrong.
  18. I think they said during the game last night that his 20th came last year on New Years Day. So he's behind his pace. The guy is solid. As I said last night, he has to be an All-Star. 6th in the league in scoring, though only 13 assists and an overall +1 on such a good team might hurt him.
  19. Again controlling the puck with the other team's goalie pulled. 20 for Sharpie! Gotta be an All-Star along with Keith. Good night folks. It's almost like the last two games never happened...
  20. The defensemen are a bit shaky right now. Too much playing the puck rather than playing the body.
  21. Wow, mics a bit close to the ice there. Burish has a foul mouth! :) Nice to see him jump in there though and protect Toews.
  22. Khabi is playing very well tonight. Very aggressive... Not to look too far ahead, but I just saw a promo a few minutes ago for the Hawks next game. At Phoenix. That should be interesting...
  23. Eddie O just made a great point. That incorrect whistle got us the goal!
  24. It's a small thing, but wth did the refs blow the whistle there? We would have started the 3rd with a full 2 mins of PP time, rather than losing a bit of it here. Wow, nevermind! Buff! Awesome!
  25. I've gotten really tired of hearing all the Calder talk focus on Mason and Berglund with no mention of Versteeg...
