  1. Janssen just destroyed somebody. Hadn't seen him out there for awhile.
  2. What a goal! Backes to MacDonald! 2-2 in St. Louis.
  3. Mason should've made that stop. They need to pick up the pace and start hitting again.
  4. i didnt see the opening minutes today, but the canucks got away with a cheap shot at the end of their 3-0 victory friday. i expected the blues to come out angry. Somebody definitely pissed in the Blues' Cheerios this morning, especially Walt and Winchester. And Crombeen. And, of course, Janssen. I don't think Hinote was hurt, but either way subbing in Janssen for him was brilliant by Murray. They needed that energy, and Janssen really fires up the crowd. Good first period. Could've been great if the PP wasn't so inept.
  5. What a quick shot by Malkin.
  6. Just my luck. If Philly gets a bit bigger lead this one will get real fun later.
  7. Philly looks like they have six Matt Walkers on defense.
  8. What is that chant? Crosby sucks? I can't quite make it out.
  9. Dammit, I just turned it on and apparently just missed a mini-brawl.
  10. 38-24 Game 1 35-37 Game 2 73-61 Overall It doesn't feel like they have had the edge in hits and physical play. Maybe it's just because I'm used to bitching about that part of their game. But I have noticed guys like Havlat and Toews working very hard and throwing hits. Kane is still doing his lame stickchecking. But he did get a few good scoring chances in the last game.
  11. I just finally had a chance to watch the end of Game 1 again. What an atmosphere. I haven't seen the UC going crazy like that since the '98 NBA Finals, if then.
  12. 2-2-1-1-1 Oh alright so the Hawks need to take at least 1 of 2 in Calgary and finish it off at home. Exactly. And right now, I don't see Calgary taking two straight games from the Hawks anywhere. I really hope my travel schedule allows me to see Game 5. I know I'll be on radio/online feeds for Game 4 unless my hotel has Vs. I'm starting to feel like Fred.
  13. Just the Havlat harassment alone should have resulted in AT LEAST 4 minutes of penalties. The thing that pissed me off was that he didn't even retaliate, he just took easily 4 crosschecks and 2 punches to the face without retaliation and nothing was called against the Flames. Yet another reason that I believe in the NHL BIAS. I don't know about that, but I do wonder how much of that the refs were going to put up with. After awhile it became painfully clear that they knew they could get away with a few jabs and were trying to draw retaliation penalties. You can't just keep letting it go. That's what I was pissed about. Havlat getting a penalty there was just ridiculous.
  14. That was awesome. I'm scared to get too overconfident, but it's clear the Flames can't match the Hawks' skill level, and they aren't even doing that great a job at playing more physical. Hassling guys like Havlat and Kane after whistles doesn't count. And I have to say, I'm really glad that the Hawks aren't retaliating. They could very easily jab back and might even get away with a few considering how the Flames have gooned it up. But it's not worth the risk at this point. Just keep doing what you're doing. And Khabi is a beast. The second goal was obviously soft, but I'm very confident with him in net.
  15. Dude I wish I could be there. The atmosphere on Thursday night came off on TV as just insane.
  16. I completely agree, I could care less if the Cubs win or lose on any given day. Of course that will change in a few weeks. I keep an eye on the games and watch a few innings here and there. But yeah, for now, it's all Hawks all the time.
  17. No faith in the Flames from this writer: http://www.calgarysun.com/sports/hockey/2009/04/16/9130321-sun.html They treat these guys like the NY press treats the Yankees. Man I can't wait for tomorrow night now. I'm visiting friends this weekend. I don't care if it's Saturday night and you guys want to go see Observe & Report. Better yet, you go ahead.
  18. In the late 1990s/early 2000s, yes. Absolutely. But now, the way the rules are, you actually have to impact the goalie's ability to make the save. I don't think that happened. Keenan argued it, and I would too if I were in his shoes. But the shot went to the opposite side and Kiprusoff was not impeded by Ladd at all in leaking like a sieve. As for Camallieri's antics, it was called. 2-minute minor. The call was high-sticking, so clearly the refs didn't actually see what happens. He needs to be suspended for that. I think 2-3 games is appropriate, at least. It was clearly dirty and a clear intent to injure. I'm all for hard, physical, even edgy play. But sucker punches? No. If Havlat wouldn't gotten seriously hurt, Camallieri would be done for the year and probably then some.
  19. Awesome. Watching the replay, Marty appeared to be tapping his stick on the ice to get Bolland's attention when he was still back in the neutral zone. And Bolland waited until just the right moment. Havlat's vision out there is just amazing. But, I have to say, Barker's goal and the winner were sort of soft. Kipper made the tough saves, but I'm sure he wishes he had those two back.
  20. Great outcome. Can't call it a great game because the Hawks were so outplayed most of the night. The crowd was really fired up and into the game. Kane needs to pick his game up. Bourque showed him what playoff hockey is about. No beefs with anyone else, save for the usual bad passes by Yalmarrson and Matty Walker.
  21. Good finish, great game. Luongo did what he does. Oh man, on the replay Cola had a chance to bury it at the buzzer.
  22. Vancouver is laying back without even looking like it. They are playing great hockey right now. And they are clearly the more talented team. This is still going to be a brutal series though.
  23. Pipes have been Mason's BFF tonight.
  24. Should be one hell of a 3rd period. And it's only the first day of the playoffs, but I'm ready to stay up all night watching a 4OT game. I can sleep in a little tomorrow...
  25. YEEEEAHHHHH BOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!
