  1. Is it that they are in this position for the first time, trying to close out a very experienced team? Cuz I can see that. Otherwise, everything leans the Hawks' way in this one. No, I'm not big on believing experience matters. It's ice, there's a puck, and you skate around trying to put it in the net. These guys have been doing it for two decades each, they all have plenty of experience. It's just the way Calgary has played in their home games in this series. They aren't the same team as when we play them in Chicago. I don't think there was that much difference in their play in the first four games. Games 1 and 2 were very competitive and Calgary probably should have taken Game 1. And I'll also disagree about the experience. The pressure makes a difference in how the guys play. The small plays that make all the difference will be made by the guys who don't freak out because they've been there before. I worry about Yarmalsson and Walker, even though both were outstanding in Game 5. That said, I continue to believe the Hawks are the vastly more talented team and that will carry them through, either tonight or Wednesday. But let's just get it done tonight, eh?
  2. Yes. If SJ wins, it's Hawks-SJ and Detroit-Vancouver. And check this out from Kuc. Khabi missed the team bus: http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/icing/2009/04/blackhawksflames-set-for-game-6.html

  4. It was the same way on Saturday night. The directv (which I think you've said you have) guide showed Versus having the Hawks game for an hour, then the Ducks-Sharks game. Is that not what they ended up showing? Either way, I got the whole game on CSN. I think I saw the whole game on CSN. Yeah, I think this will go the same way as Saturday and CSN won't be blacked out. TSN is confirming Phaneuf is out for tonight. Nice.

  6. I really do too. But this is going to be brutal. I definitely don't see another 3-4 goal win here. The most important thing is going to be solid defensive play. Puck gets into the slot or the crease, get it out of there immediately. They were so good at that on Saturday night.
  7. Yes, that is great news. And the Hawks really need to win this game, because I'm going to be traveling Wednesday night and will once again be scrambling around to find a sports bar showing the game. On the Redneck Riviera.
  8. Work might go by faster, but the time between when I get home and game time is going to drag! So much so that I think I might try to stay at work later. Or I could just go to the bar for a few hours. That sounds better. Apparently Phaneuf is questionable for tonight. Wouldn't miss him. I saw it somewhere else, and it's noted in this screed about Kipper needing to man up: http://www.calgarysun.com/sports/hockey/2009/04/27/9257506-sun.html The Calgary papers are funny.
  9. welcome to NJ Devils hockey. No kidding. I haven't watched a minute of that series, and I'm not starting now. Game 7 of NYR/WSH, on the other hand... I'll probably watch game 6 of the SJ/ANH series as well, but so far I haven't watched much of that one either.
  10. Daywalkers. Have they put up any pics of Gordon holding his junk after he hit the three? Sorry if it was posted earlier. I didn't read the thread today.
  11. What passing by WSH. 3-on-1 all the way in. Beautiful goal. 3-1 Caps.
  12. Brashear just destroyed Betts late. The guy could hardly get off the ice. Pretty dirty.
  13. ^Haha, likely. I'm watching with in-laws. Looking forward to a great one.
  14. Huet doesn't start a game in the playoffs, no matter what happens. Q made his choice, it was the right one, and you have to ride it out now. If Khabi fails, perhaps if gives Huet a sliver of legitimacy going into next year.
  15. That was one hell of a fake rally. It's really late.
  16. Huh? If they blow the three goal lead and win the game, that's not very demoralizing.
  17. Who in the hell is Eric Nystrom?
  18. They are playing very solid road hockey right now. Not taking a lot of chances, solid defense. I like their chances if the play stays this way.
  19. Stupid taking the icing there by Brouwer. No reason for it.
  20. Wow, PP time. Bertuzzi is a goon.
  21. Nice first 30 seconds -- picked up where they left off.
  22. $15 for hockeystreams.com has been thoroughly worth it. I can't justify doing that since I'm almost always home. Bad timing tonight. If it's radio for the third, so be it. John and Troy are pretty good.
