  1. I recall thinking (and probably posting) a few months ago that a deep run into the second round would be a successful season for the Hawks. I'm still thinking that's the case. But to really whip up the fan base and create some new ones, they need that matchup in the conference finals against Detroit.
  2. Where are you getting this schedule? TSN doesn't have anything, nor does the Hawks website. I saw some speculation on the Hawks boards that Game 2 would be Saturday night for an HNIC broadcast, which means Game 1 would indeed be Thursday. But it was just speculation. I was holding out hope for a weekend home game that I might be able to come home and catch. As if I'd be able to get tickets.
  3. Depending on the start time, I'm going to miss a good chunk of Game 1. Hopefully it's an 8:30 or 9:00 start.
  4. Why? Cuz I'd rather face Vancouver than San Jose. I think most would.
  5. What a battle! Pavelski!
  6. Brashear has a reputation similar to Avery where he's going to get punished based on his reputation alone. Brashear has been a piece of [expletive] cheap shot artist all his life... he didn't get suspended 6 games just for the hit on Betts... he also got 3 games for the pre-game altercation I believe. However, Avery doesn't cheap shot and intentionally try to injure people. I get the whole reputation thing, I just don't agree with it. If there isn't some set "three strikes" policy or something like that, every act should be treated on its own. Not to start a who's crime is the biggest, but Burish and Camaleirielli not even getting suspensions and Brashear getting 6 does not seem right. The NHL has a huge problem with consistency. This is not me trying to say that what Burish did was as bad as Brashear or what camelaieirwll did was worse that Lucic or anything like that. What I am saying is that they all were cheap shots with intent to injure. That is without question. So how does the NHL determine the punishments? To me it just does not seem consistent. I completely agree. It's got to be based on the resulting injury. Betts had a broken orbital bone or something like that. So Brashear gets a more severe penalty. Wow, brawl in this one!
  7. I see Vancouver as more evenly skilled and probably at a slight physical disadvantage. But I almost like starting on the road. I'm very confident they'll take one up there, then come home and take care of business.
  8. Wow, Anaheim might pull this off. I sure hope they do, for the Hawks' sake.
  9. Haha, Brent Sopel. I'd forgotten about that bum. Ugh, CSN is blacked out for the postgame show too. Crock.
  10. HELLS YES! BIG BUFF WITH THE EN! HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN!
  11. One minute remaining in the third period. One minute.
  12. Excellent work! Not pretty. Just gritty.
  13. No. That's why you take the TO.
  14. I think most Chicagoans will participate in next year's Hawks GDT.... I can't imagine how huge it would have been if Chicago would have wrapped it's arms around the Hawks from the beginning. Again, it's going to take many years of consistently good hockey to make the Hawks truly relevant in Chicago again. I don't mind Q taking his timeout here. The icings need to stop.
  15. Walker looked a little jumpy there, but he's been great. So it's cool.
  16. I'm good with Pahlsson now.
  17. The last 11 minutes hasn't been a clinic, but it's getting the job done. Line 'em up, 4 across at the blue line and let them try to get anything going now. I'm not a fan of the prevent, but there can be no odd-man chances.
  18. Cuthbert just described Kane's stickchecking along the boards as "fencing." Doesn't that about sum it up?
  19. They have gotten back under control in the defensive zone. The next step is actually trying to make some plays through the neutral zone and put some chances on net. If that happens over the next five minutes or so and keep the 3-1 lead, it'll be fine. Once they get around five minutes left, the d-men will start pinching and we'll get a few breakaways.
  20. I pretty much have a permanent cringe on my face right now.
