  1. I was wondering the same thing. That's gotta be a TNT thing. I can't imagine it being legal to have it one building and not all of them. And it's really awful. Is that new? I was thinking it was something TNT just does. I agree, it's terrible.
  2. A call on a ball going out of bounds went against the Bulls and Miller appeared to wave his hand at the ref so as to say, "this is [expletive]." And he got a technical. That was all.
  3. Waving your hand at the ref gets you a "T" these days?
  4. I haven't watched much basketball lately and admittedly have been totally fairweather about the Bulls since '98, but this is an exciting game. Seemed for a minute there like they were doing too much complaining to the refs, but then hit a few open shots and it's a solid lead again.
  5. The Directv guide says the same thing. I think they were just planning on having an eastern conference game to show in the early slot. Just set your box to record whatever is on Versus from 6:00pm onward, just to be sure. I assumed that was the issue and also that you can just set it up to record at 9ea/8ct for 4 hours (to be safe). Yeah it doesn't seem that complicated, but it's been awhile since I've had Tivo.

  7. I don't want to start a pissing match because I still identify myself as a Bulls fan (though one of the many who hasn't watched much since 1998 and hates today's NBA), but this article is great: http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=290144 It's the Hawks stuff flying off the shelves!
  8. I'd imagine there's enough Chicago kids going to school up there that you'll find a place with the game on. More than enough. I'd swear there were more students from Chicago than Iowa. Is the Sports Column still there? If so they should have it. Plus there's also the Buffalo Wild Wings. It was the same way in Lawrence. They had a whole building that was known as being the home of all the north suburban kids.

  10. Damn that was a mean left by Eager. I expect we'll see a fight or two tonight to get the pleasantries out of the way. It's gameday and I can't wait for 8:00pm. They need to win one of the first two, or it's going to be a long wait until Tuesday night.

    Trade

Another owner has been trying to get Harang off me for a few weeks now. I have a huge front four (Peavy, Z, Billingsley, Hamels), so he's expendable. He offered Maggs, then Fukudome. I countered with a demand for Corey Hart. Would he be nuts to trade me Corey Hart for Harang?
  12. Yes they do. no offense to Blues fans but they are not as good as the Hawks. Also, even though it was a sweep, 3 or those games were pretty close. I am leaning towards the Canucks winning this series, but it is not a slam dunk. I can see the Canucks almost dominating and winning it in 5. If the series goes deep, I like the Hawks chances. I'm worried about that too, but it's just my general paranoia. And the fact that the last two times these two teams played each other Vancouver kicked the living crap out of the Hawks.
  13. Let them get all worked up about what happened in March. That's fine with me if they are going to be belligerent and take stupid penalties. The sense I'm getting from all the articles is that it's the Canucks who have the axe to grind. And I understand, given Buff's cross-check into Luongo's face. But I think that will work to the Hawks' advantage.
  14. They also slobber over guys on the bench saying the right thing at the right time to make all the difference in the world. I heard it said about a Flames player, Paulson in game 6, and a couple guys in other games. In that guy's mind, telling your team to "calm down" is the greatest thing a player can do in a hockey game. That's just McGuire. He just goes insane about that kind of stuff, I think to sort of prove why he should be standing down there between the benches. It was kind of neat though in the last game when they were talking about Buff and how he weighed a certain amount. Kane apparently heard him and corrected him, then jumped on the ice and two seconds later had a great scoring chance.
  15. The only problem is that watching the TSN feed is that they'll be defenitely biased towards the Canucks. No question. But if they win, I won't mind. :)
  16. Maybe we'll at least get to hear Hughson do some games if Versus just uses TSN's feed.
  17. appears to me they are each game except game 1. I would enjoy getting to see the games on CSN, but not a big deal. TSN is making much of the last game between these teams and the brawl. This is going to be a brutal series.
  18. Was Vignault pulling Secord's hair? Perhaps that's where they learned it:
  19. No matter to me really about the schedule. I just can't wait until tomorrow night now!
  20. Not quite yet. Center Ice guarantees that you'll see all first and second round games, which leads me to assume that there might be situations on a weeknight where Versus will have to choose between two games.
  21. I don't notice that prices are any higher than other places. The beers are cheaper at Wrigley, but it memory serves the cups are smaller. As for it being cramped, I agree. They definitely got every seat in there that they could. And no advertising possibility was ignored. Just like the old place, there are ads everywhere you look. I guess most places are that way now, it just seems like they take it to the extreme.
  22. Well that's good. Then I'm guessing they would prefer a Thursday start and would be less likely to complain about a lack of an extra day of rest. Yeah, I see no reason to not just start on Thursday. I don't think it's a disadvantage.
  23. possibly. Of course this is one of the major problems with the Wings being in the Western conference. They are the number 1 national tv draw. They are an Eastern time zone team. How late are you willing to start their home games to appease Boston or Washington(maybe Pittsburgh)? Also if you are an Anaheim fan it really does have to suck to have your team play at 4. Either way for Friday and Sunday it doesnt make any scheduling conflicts to have Hawks/Canucks playing the same day as Ducks/Wings. They can tweek the schedule after that. If they started the Hawks/Canucks on Thurs than that gives the Hawks a chance to complain about not getting an extra day like Anaheim. I am guessing the NHL would want to avoid that if there isnt any stadium issues. I thought Pittsburgh was the biggest national draw. Crosby is about the only known NHL player out there. It would be a stretch to start any eastern conference game on Thursday, considering both series depend on outcomes of tonight's game. They are probably Friday/Sunday games, allowing them to showcase Crosby again on NBC. I'd bet the Chicaco/Vancouver series starts Thursday. There isn't much difference between 2 off nights and 3. Although I assume they flew home already, and it could be tough to fly right back to western Canada. I'm hoping for Friday, because a Saturday game is going to be a conflict for me personally. CSN reported this morning that the team went straight to Vancouver.
  24. Speaking of Vancouver, I hadn't heard anything about this. Terrible. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=276302
  25. I said all along they had to win a series to really capitalize on the momentum they've built. I still think that is the case. Everything from here on out is gravy. As long as they don't embarrass themselves this round, it's not going to hurt them to lose it. They were the 4th best team in the conference and made it to the final four of the conference. They played exciting hockey, won three home playoff games and generally fulfilled all the promise they had. Obviously winning this series and matching up with Detroit would be a tremendous boost, but they are still in line to improve going into next year and take the next step. Really, though, the Blackhawks were the 3rd best team in the conference, two poor performances against the Canucks notwithstanding. These are two pretty evenly-matched teams, with the Blackhawks having been the far better team in the first half of the season, and the Canucks having been the better team in the second half of the season. Yeah, the Hawks did finish with four more points than Vancouver.
