  1. Can the Cubs make trades to gain additional IFA signing bonus money? $300K is so low.
  2. If his AB’s are not consistent, I would think he’d have a hard time with the pitches he’s seeing. It may force the hand to choose one or the other.
  3. Is it a forgone conclusion that he’ll go to the team with the most IFA money to spend (ie Yankees)? If not, how would a deal be structured for a team like the Cubs?
  4. I assume they would offer a few options - the more the Marlins eat of the contract, they can select 2-3 of the following players. The less the Marlins eat, they get 1-2, and so on.
  5. Given that the Cubs aren't getting him, I could definitely live with Stanton in San Francisco. Wait...you're gonna live with Stanton in SF? :) If he goes to StL, the contract would impact them for many years, especially if they have to give up a couple pitching prospects. They wouldn't be big on any future FA signings either. He also needs to stay healthy.
  6. Either way, its a very lackluster off season, in my mind. The main point was, what if that IS our off season? Its not beyond the realm of possibility, with no trades and looking towards the 2018 class. I'd be okay with it, tbh. I'd make some different choices after Cobb, but I think that still puts us as favorites in the division. I'm sure they'd make some additions at mid-season. It really, really makes me wish we had moved on Verlander, though. I’d be ok if these are the only moves the Cubs make, if the Cards and vaunted Brewers don’t make many moves - but we know that’s not gonna be the case.
  7. In a straight up trade scenario, why would the Cubs trade a cost controlled player from the roster (Happ) for Britton? Britton is arb eligible in 2018 and a FA in 2019.
  8. I’ve read a couple articles that say something to the effect of: StL is willing to send their top pitching prospect (Weaver). Well no horsefeathers - I would think it’ll be a minimum of 2 top pitching prospects + others.
  9. Yes. Done. Money aside, also complicated due to all 3 have some form of NTC.
  10. It seems like JHey hits the ball hard and on the ground a lot. How hard is it for him to change the loft angle?
  11. Crazy to think that Kershaw could opt out after next year (age 30). He's making $35M per. If he opts out, how much more could the guy want to make? Obviously a longer deal but still, these numbers are getting crazy, I sound like my grandpa.
  12. My preference would be to swing for Stroman instead of Archer, although not sure if the BJ’s are ready to deal.
  13. I don't see the FO trading a player like Happ with 5 years of control for a 1 year rental in Corbin. Seal boy? Yes.
  14. Major cajones and on live tv
  15. Happy for Verlander
  16. 2 straight bad outings for Darvish. Going into age 31 season, what’s he looking at for a contract - 3 years $45M guaranteed + option?
  17. Judge just made a helluva catch.
  18. I always looked forward to his candor in the weekly interviews on the Score.
  19. Would love to see some impact arms from within as either SP or RP - but if Tseng is it, well then. Any chance of someone developing at a quicker rate than expected? Like to a couple of the college arms from the ‘16 draft?
  20. Isn’t there a ridiculous Joey Votto bat flip? I couldn’t find it, if someone could repost - thanks.
  21. Cardinals 2011-2014 so 4 years. F’n Cardinals. It had to be. Thanks.
  22. Besides the Cubs, when was the last time a team has made the LCS 3 years in a row?
