  1. I like Robel getting some protection from Heyward in the order. Mills needs to pitch his nuts off tonight.
  2. Atlanta visiting the Brewers for a 3 game set starting tonight. Cubs have a good chance of expanding the lead against the Reds (although tonight is gonna be tough).
  3. so why would it have to be soon? two weeks prior to 9/1 is a month from now I didn’t mean to sound frantic, but yeah - I guess we’ll know within a month. Clock is ticking.
  4. If Zobrist is due back, it’s gonna have to be soon. He’ll need what - 2 weeks at Iowa to get back in baseball shape? If he’s not on the roster by 9/1 - no playoff roster.
  5. I think it was Friday he laced an oppo double off the wall. Well...he needs to do it more then.
  6. Rizzo and Vic going the other way for hits. Would be nice if Schwarber could start doing this.
  7. The Cubs now have the eye of the tiger. They will dominate in the second half.
  8. 5 games over .500. Holy crap they need to go on a run.
  9. More pitchers need to be pushed onto the reliever track IMO. I think the best outcomes for Lange and Little at this point are becoming relievers, and seeing if their stuff/command improves in shorter outings. Underwood looked okay at times last year, but the command may never be good enough even as a reliever. The pitching depth is definitely improved, but it's mostly #4 or #5 starter stuff and potential and low-leverage reliever roles for this group. We don't have the high upside stuff of those pitchers in the Braves' system (with Marquez and Thompson being the exceptions). If after the past few years of focus on pitching via the draft, the farm system can only yield a crop of #4 or #5 at best pitching prospects - who’s head should roll besides McLeod’s? This can’t be their desired outcome.
  10. I can’t believe how quickly this team has taken a horsefeathers, and with no end in sight. The window has been slammed shut (with cost controlled players of course).
  11. Screw you ninnies, Cubs are ROLLING tonight. 10-2.
  12. 2nd highest payroll in the league. This team has no juice. They’re trashed.
  13. He’s got a motivational presentation for all occasions.
  14. Here's hoping to scoring early and often. Lets hope there won't be any fireworks from yesterdays HBP and post game comments ~ which there shouldn't be but we're dealing with crazy pants Puig, so...
  15. Along with Bobby Hill, Hee Seop Choi, Augie Ojeda, etc., etc. Okay, maybe not Augie Ojeda. I learned recently that he just retired a couple of years ago. Roosevelt Brown was also a minor league stud who I had high hopes for Felix Pie...damn it
  16. He went yard again last night for #13. Only 221 PA’s, .786 OPS. Not bad for a cost controlled 22 yo.
  17. Other than Baez and Willson, it seems the other home grown players have either stalled or regressed since 2016. With the young guys, shouldn’t they be getting better with more reps/experience? Schwarber, Russell, CJ Edwards, Almora, Happ (2017) Maybe I was too optimistic looking forward going into 2017 and beyond.
  18. Darvish is dog horsefeathers. Soft dog horsefeathers.
  19. Oh great, so when he comes back, his fastball will kick up a few MPH. He may not know where it’s going though.
