  1. Bonds singled off the glove of Mabry and then went first to home on a double down the right field line by Sweeney.
  2. Ramirez singled Mabry and Murton walked Cedeno reached on an error .. one run scores Blanco I think grounded out .. one run scores Maddux poped out trying to bunt Pierre doubled ... on run scored w/ Cedeno on 3rd I didn't hear what Walker and Jones did, but 2 more runs scored Ramirez gounded out to end the inning.
  3. So yeah ... how bout that game? 5 runs in the 2nd inning so far.
  4. I don't know how he's not in there. I had no idea.
  5. Of the 4 teams he's interested in, I would love to see him with the Rangers. I believe he'll end up back with the Astros though.
  6. I don't think that's a fair analysis. They didn't even mention anything about a need in the bullpen or the Howry and Eyre signings.
  7. I have a hard time believing that he'll "recover fully in two to three weeks". My wife had a similar procedure done in June and it took her months to get over it. She's not a professional athelete with a staff of personal trainer looking after her, but I think 2-3 weeks to be fully recovered is insanely optomistic.
  8. A healthy Aramis would be a big boost.
  9. I got my friend who is a huge Mets fan this: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/0060507322.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
  10. I don't feel so bad about JJ now.
  11. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/2005/12/21/contracts.botched/content.1.html Here are just the ones from the MLB: Jody Reed Dodgers, 1993 The infielder rejected a three-year, $7.8 million offer, hoping to get more on the open market. Instead, he got a minor league contract with the Brewers. To replace the departed Reed, the Dodgers traded a young Pedro Martinez to the Expos for Delino DeShields, one of the most lopsided deals in history. MLB Umpires 1999 Frustrated by contract talks with MLB, the umpires union sent in 57 resignations as a negotiating ploy. The move backfired when MLB accepted 22 of the resignations, including Eric Gregg's (left). Three of the umpires were rehired in December 2004. Juan Gonzalez Tigers, 2000 Desperate to make a splash, the Tigers traded for this two-time MVP and offered him an eight-year, $148 million contract. Gonzalez rejected the offer, partly because he didn't like the cavernous dimensions of Comerica Park. He's been playing on one-year contracts ever since. Nomar Garciaparra Red Sox, 2003 He rejected a four-year, $60 million extension, as well as a four-year, $48 million offer, because he felt he deserved "A-Rod/Jeter Money." A year later, Garciaparra was traded to the Cubs, where he signed a one-year deal for 2005 worth about $8 million and is now a Dodger after signing a similar one-year contract. Miguel Cairo Yankees, 2004 Emboldened by a strong season in pinstripes (.292 average), Cairo wanted more than the Yankees' offer of $3 million for two years. The Bombers signed Tony Womack instead, and Cairo had to settle for a one-year, $900,000 contract with the Mets.
  12. Add Wood to the DL and put Williams in a starting spot.
  13. Berkman ... remember when he faked getting hit in the head by Rem at the end of 2004. Then the Astros plunked Derrick Lee in the 9th inning of the last game against them for the season.
  14. http://www.baseball-reference.com/m/mechegi01.shtml whoever sponsored his baseball-reference page also thinks so: "Gil Meche would be a lot better in the bullpen. Let's hope we see him there in 2006."
  15. Look at the Astros offseason ... all they've done is lost Roger Clemens for at least until May 1st. They had much greater offensive stuggles than the Cubs and they still haven't improved it.
  16. How many games did Aramis and Nomar actually play together? By the time Nomar was healthy enough to play, Aramis had gone down for the season. So as long as Aramis stays healthy then we haven't lost anything from last season as far as infield production goes. If anything Cedeno > Nefi!. Also Murton > Todd H. + Dubois + Lawton. 2005 went wrong for alot of reasons and so far 2 of the outfield positions and the bullpen have been greatly improved. I'm pleased so far with what Hendry has done so far, but he still has a bit more work to do. I believe there will be a better and more experienced team on the field at the start of 2006 than there was in 2005.
  17. I agree ... I would rather see him there than some of these scrubs that have been mentioned.
  18. http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/ They update pretty often.
  19. Well when he finishes this contract he'll just be one year shy of his goal ... playing until he turns 50. He's a year older than Sandberg.
  20. lol. that'd be great. i used to live in shreveport and that was a nice town for local sports. Shreveport once had a AA in the Texas League. (Giants affiliate, I believe) That team was purchased and is now in Frisco, TX. There's an independent league team that uses the stadium there, but I think Shreveport could support a higher quality team. It's 90 miles from Monroe to Shreveport, but if the Cubs affiliate were there, I'd probably buy season tickets. I second that idea, Shreveport would be a great place to relocate. It's good to see there's another Cubs fan from Monroe on here.
