  1. That's been true since the day Soriano signed. I'd still rather have Murton in RF than Jones, right now. It's not like Jones possesses a great arm anyway. Why didn't the Cubs try Soriano in RF this spring? Wouldn't it have made sense to try to get the team ready for the future. If Pie, Soriano, and Murton are our future wouldn't it have been best to figure out how they would fit best? Quick question though were would Colvin fit in all of this? I believe he is learning CF, could be wrong. Are the cubs planning on him being the solution in RF in the future? Maybe Hendyr is thinking Soriano, Pie, Colving and Murton isn't even in the picture.
  2. who was the inside threat in the last bulls dynasty? Both Jordan and Pippen were able to post up. Thus taking higher pecentage shots. No one one this current team can post up. Therefore, both Jordan and Pippen were inside threats. Just like at the deadline there was talk of the bulls trading for Bonzi Wells because he was a guard who could post up and could provide a consistent inside threat. How often do you see anyone on this team back someone down like Jordan and Pippen did?
  3. If I recall correctly everyone said we had no chance of going deep in the playoffs without an inside threat. We still do not have an inside threat so how can people now assume we will go deep in the playoffs. My ideal situation would be to work out a deal that would get us Jermaine Oneal in the offseason. Maybe we could give up Duhon, the 10th pick, and do a sign a trade with Nocioni. With no inside threat our steaky shooting will be the death of us. Permieter oriented teams never win. Unless they have someone on the inside who can score when the guards are cold.
  4. We're screwed Wow, Hinrich, you idiot. Why? Because he supposedly said that they can beat the Heat in a 7 game series? Would you rather him say we have no chance? Besides, it's not like the Heat weren't going to give 100% effort in the series, anyways. Hinrich said his quote before last nights game when the Bulls were locked into the 2 seed. It was kinda weird when I read it, almost like the Bulls were aiming to play the Heat. Well now they have their wish. Some of the quotes: Hinrich: Nocioni: Remember, these quotes were made before the NJ game. So you want Hinrich and Noc to just shut up when the reporters ask about the Heat. Heat - Bulls is a much sexier match up than Nets/Wizards/Magic - Bulls. And if Wade or Shaq got trash talking from what Hinrich or Noc said, I don't know how either passed 3 years of college. Well no, obviously they asked them direct questions about the Heat. I'd prefer an answer that shows focus and determination like "We are only worried about beating New Jersey and clinching the 2 seed. We will worry about the Heat if we match up against them" This is a lot like the Mark Prior "I"m just an employee" debate. Pretty useless and lets not read too much into this. This isn't the Bulls year to win it all. Next year will be when Tyrus has another year of experience and we have Roy Hibbert helping out in the middle.
  5. We're screwed Thanks to UMFAN83 I will be attending the Saturday afternoon matchup. Waht a guy!!!!
  6. While we are one this...what would be the preferred lineup vs Lefties and Righties. Assuming Soriano has to bat leadoff. Vs Lefties I believe it should be Soriano (CF), Theriot (2b), Lee (1B), Ramirez (3b), Murton (LF), Barrett ©, Derosa (RF), Cedeno (SS). Vs. Righties it should be be Soriano (CF), Theriot (2b) Lee (1b), Ramirez (3b), Jones (RF), Barrett ©, Murton (LF), Izturis (SS). Just my thoughts.
  7. Cuban, Colangelo, Bill Murray..... I work at CDW and there is a rumor going around that the founder of our company Michael Krasny is looking to be the majority owner of a group to buy the Cubs. I don't know if there is any truth to this rumor. Anyony read anything about this? I heard that on the score. Aren't CDW's losing money. Most I know of are closing down... CDW doesn't have any retail stores. We have our corporate headquarter up in Vernon Hills Illinois. CDW is also the fastest growing IT company in the country, who would have guessed we are second to dell at 8 billion dollars in sales compared to dells 25 million. Wow they really got you guys loving the company over there! Glad you are able to post at work now :) Of course I love the comapny...

Carry on... I started to get a bit worried if that was true.

  11. This is what Paul Sullivan said: It was Sullivan who asked Prior if he wanted to be traded (as seen on Comast Sports Net). That is some good info...I do however apologize for starting this thread.
  12. Why is that? Why would someone who's employed for another team have a better handle on Prior's makeup than any Cub fan who follows the team closely? This is ridiculous. If anything, Prior's taking the high road in not trying to make himself more important than anyone else who got sent down with the "employee" comment. I can't believe how many people are jumping him for this. I just wish he wouldn't have used the "I'm an employee" line. If he would have said something like "This is what is best for the team right now and I understand, BUT i'm going to do my best to make sure this is not permanent." It is clear he was just trying to be the good soldier, I just think that line shows a lack of desire. I know most people where I work say I'm just an employee there is nothing I can do because they are lazy and don't care. Wow that's a mouthfull. I'm sorry he didn't say EXACTLY what you wanted him to say, to make you feel better about what YOU think he meant. My point was simply that the way you word things can have a profound impact on the way fans look at you. I know Prior was being the good teammate. When you know you are going to be scrutinized you need to pick your words carefully.
  13. It doesn't matter either way he'll be roasted by those who made up their minds on him over a year ago. DKWG managed to find a way to frame Prior's "putting his head between his legs" as him being overly cocky. Others will frame it as him not caring.(We call this the Corey Patterson method of hatred.) If he got pissed and said he'll prove them wrong and pitch his way back, well obviously he's a spoiled brat who doesn't think his results should affect whether he's demoted or not. "I'm Mark Prior!!! Do you know who I am? You don't dare demote me!!" I see your point. Prior is in a no win situation here. I just wish he would have said it in a calm tone that he understand this is best for the team and that this has made him more determined to get back to where he was. I don't see that as being defiant. I see it as being honest and respectful to the team.

  15. I don't like when people say I am an employee and I do what I'm told. It shows a lack of interest. If a player gets sent down to the minors he better be thinking, "those bastards don't know what they just did, I'm going to work my tail off to show them that they made a huge mistake." There are only two roads Prior can take here. He can put his head between his legs and accept his fate or he can rise to the occassion and become the pitcher he once was. With regards to Prior being soft that is all a bunch of BS. Prior is a tough son of a gun, who has lost all confidence. Give him some time to regain his confidence and he should be good to go. If he can't regain his confidence he will be gone.
  16. Didn't see this posted anywhere: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070329prior,1,3556410.story?coll=cs-home-headlines
  17. That is a ludacris statement, while I love Mike Brown, this team will not be 500 without him. How many games has he played the last 2 years, and yet the Bears are 24-8 duing the regular season. Last two years Bears 15-3 with Brown 9-5 without. For his career. The Bears are 45-40 with Brown and 13-14 without. When Brown went out last year our defense went from 1st to 13th. Then when Harris went out our defense went from 13th to 28th. How crazy was my statement? As goes Mike Brown so goes the Bears.
  18. Mark it down...If the Bears don't keep Mike Brown we will be a 500 team next year. Lets not forget Mike Brown started off his career as a Free Safety when the Bears had Tony Parrish at Strong Safety. I am against this deal if it signals the end for Mike Brown. Mike Brown for 12 games a year > Archuleta for 16.
  19. I'd bench the defense. Chad and Reggie should easily get more point than Harrison.
  20. My bet is some of our pen will be traded by the start of the season. Most likely Dempster and Eyre. Then the one who doesn't fit best in our rotation will be put in the pen.
  21. Wow!! Thanks for the info. Kind of depressing but good to hear it from a source we all know and trust.

  23. Just to add. I know in no way want Lilly and Meche. I can deal with having one of them at 10 mil a year. Granted I think it is way too much for either pitcher. I would much rather have paid AJ Burnett 5/55 last year then eitehr one of these guys even 8 million a year.
  24. Maybe the Best guy doesn't want to come here? I can dig up quotes where Schmidt has stated that he has interest in St. Louis and Chicago. When I hear that Schmidt turned down 2 years/36m, then I'll believe he just didn't want to be here. Lilly and Meche are lucky to be 8m a year pitchers. The offers for those guys are getting closer to 11m. Instead of giving these guys 3m, add it on to Schmidt's deal and see if he still wants to pitch on the West Coast. If I don't hear that Hendry offered 18m, I'll be convinced he didn't do enough to get him. If St. Louis gets him for between 15m-18m, I'll guarantee you I'll be thoroughly pissed. Isn't it also true that he can be saying he'd go to the cubs or the cardinals to merely help drive up his price? So he really has no intent of coming here but he wants to get as much money as possible out of the Dodgers, Giants, and Mariners.
